  1. We are flying from Chicago to Amsterdam (layover of 2 hours) to Barcelona. I was wondering how long it takes after landing to arrive at a taxi stand. We get into Barcelona at 10:15 Sunday morning. Do we go through customs here or in amsterdam? We want to schedule sagrada familia tickets for that afternoon. We will take a taxi to Liceu metro stop area on Las ramblas where our hotel is to drop off our luggage. Then take the metro there. It says taxi rides are about 30 minutes to hotel . Drop of luggage 30 minutes. Metro to LA sagrada familia 30 minutes. I was planning on a 30 minute buffer. So 2 hours after getting out of the airport.

  2. Was wondering on the time it takes to see the Vatican and if afternoons are okay. I am taking a cruise with one day 8 am 7 pm in Rome. After the cruise I am taking a train down on a Monday to Rome from Venice with hopefully a stop in Florence over night so we see the accademia and David the next day first thing in the morning at 815 because it is closed on Monday. I figured if we left the accademia by 930 we could take the 1038 train to Rome getting us to the Vatican after checking in about 2 pm. Will that give us enough time to see the Vatican museums and St Peters? I know they close earlier, I think 4, but if you are in the museum they let you stay till 6. One possibility is we could go to the Vatican the day of the cruise and just do pantheon and coloseum Spanish Steps that afternoon but there were about 12000 cruise passengers there that day and the port lists no cruise ships the later Tuesday so I figured the Vatican would by way less crowded. Any advice would be appreciated. We fly out the next day which is a Wednesday at 2pm from FCO.

  3. Has anyone used John Hancock Insurance? I was considering their silver plan or Travel Guard Gold that everyone seems to like. The John Hancock plan seems to have better coverage but never having purchased trip insurance maybe I am missing something? We are young and healthy but need primary medical and 'what if' peace of mind for accidents. Also in case of missed connections etc. Thanks

  4. I have been on 2 cruises before but I was young and with my grandfather and didn't really pay attention to details. I was wondering if you really only get off the ship 2 hours after arrival and need to be back 2 hours before. So if the port times list 8am to 7pm. We would only have from 10 to 5? It doesn't seem like that would be right especially with how long the shore excursions say they take.
