  1. Cruised on the DAWN 12/15 before the refurbishment, liked the ship a lot. We were in a mini suite. Just booked again, for the 12/0/2017 sailing out of San Juan, never been to San Juan or to any of the other islands, so I will be keeping my eye on this thread as well. The Dawn is a great little ship and I am looking forward to seeing the improvements. We were lucky enough to book the same cabin that we were in last time!

  2. I just returned three weeks ago from a cruise on the Breakaway out of New York! I was in a spa Haven Suite! This was a Comp through CAS! That was my first time in a Haven! It was awesome! I have another comp in the Haven on the Escape next May, so I am excited about that as well! I am VIP on Norwegian in the Casino, so I guess you can say, I really pay for those cabins! LOL ;):D

Wow...you must be a high roller!

  3. If you are a Diamond or Seven Stars at Harrah's, New Orleans, you can park for free for the time that you are on the cruise. You can take taxi to dock.

Thank you for the info. I will not be driving, but my brother will be driving out from Atlanta to meet us after the cruise and wil be staying with us at Harrahs. It's good to know that since I am a diamond member he'll be able to park for free. Man I can't wait for our cruise! We are also thinking about taking a day trip to Biloxi to check out Harrahs Gulfport. Has anyone been there

  4. You will find an envelope from CAS in your room when you board with your players card and attached 'free drinks in casino' card. They usually invite you to a cocktail party that first evening so they casino hosts can meet you. They also usually send a treat or two to your cabin like chocolates or cookies. If you got your CAS certificate from Caesars Entertainment you might want to check with Harrah's New Orleans to see if they can comp you a room night before the cruise, or give you a good rate (depending on your level with them.)

We have gone on many Dawn cruises out of NOLA and it's so nice to stay there the night before, and the night after cruise. It's close enough to the port that we usually walk off the ship and roll our luggage over to the hotel. Have a great time!

We got our cruise through Harrah's SoCal. We are going to be staying at Harrah's New Orleans and yes our rooms are comped! We get in on the 11th into New Orleans and then we are staying for two days after the cruise until the 22nd! Nice to know that the hotel is so close to the dock. Do you have any tips on what to do while in New Orleans? My wife has never been and I have only been once and that was a long time ago.

  5. Hello All!

This will be my first time on a NCL cruise and I am really excited! I just upgraded to a mini-suite and I just wanted to know how large the closet is and what size suitcase we should bring. It is just my wife and I and I am a bit of a over packer! I don't want to wind up sleeping on the balcony because there isn't enough room because I packed too much. Also, I was reading that there isn't a lot of counter space if any in the bathroom...suggestions for luggage and bathroom space would greatly be appreciated!

  6. Just got back from a cruise to Bermuda on the Dawn (6/26 to 7/3).

My normal morning routine is to drink a large Dunkin Donuts coffee which is about 20 ounces.

On the Dawn we ate breakfast in the buffet on most days. One small source of aggravation was that the buffet has very small coffee cups.

So I would get a plate of food and a cup of coffee and then find that the coffee cup was empty in a about 3 sips. I'm not sure of the size of their coffee cups but if I was to guess I would say that they hold 6 ounces.

Its very inconvenient to head back to the coffee machine 3 or 4 times for coffee and it is also a little tricky walking with coffee back to your table while the ship is moving (without spilling the coffee).

Lastly it would have been nice to have a mug to be able to take my coffee to go (either back to my room or wherever I was off to next). The little cups they provide don't hold very much coffee and are easy to spill if they are filled almost to the top.

So if you like to drink a lot of coffee in the morning and you want to be able to take it around with you, pack a good sized coffee mug to bring with you.

NOTE 1 - On one day in the buffet, a crew member was rolling a coffee cart around the buffet refilling coffee cups for people but this was very rare (I only saw it one day) and couldn't be counted on for keeping your coffee full.

Note 2 - I went down to the java bar one day to see if I could get a 20 ounce coffee to walk around with but from what I could see their menu only listed pay for coffees like espresso and cappuccino. There was a line so I never asked the staff if they had regular (free) coffee there.

Thanks for the tip...my wife thanks you more, she is the coffee drinker in the family and it sounds like you two drink the same amount of coffee!
