  1. Just got off Breakaway this morning. I was in boarding group 8. Grabbed my husbands key card & ran to guest services once I got through to board. I got pass numbers 28 & 29. They were $99 each. I was told they were selling a total of 70 passes. I think it was well worth the money.

Thanks for posting. I'm leaving on Sunday. I saw that they had the Sunday night NFL game in the dailies but didn't see the Thursday night game on them. Do you know if they had it playing anywhere on the ship? My husband is a Jets fan & Mom is a Bills fan they play each other on Thursday & don't want them to miss out seeing the game. TIA

  4. My family & I (5 of us) are leaving in 2 weeks on the breakaway. We have a family oceanview cabin. My question is we are thinking of bring a 20" suitcase per person after I empty them out, will they all fit under the bed for storage? If not will 2-28's & a 20" fit under? TIA

  5. Allow a "little" extra, extra travel time this weekend - the Papal visit tomorrow & Friday will be over, but the annual United Nations GA will be in progress (haven't check the POTUS schedule) but other heads of states/VIP "packages" will be moving around the city with their protection details (i.e. spouses going on visits & shopping errands, etc.) so don't get caught or be surprised with moving road blocks and/or frozen zones. Avoid going thru or passing the East Side of midtown Manhattan, from E. 23rd Street/FDR Drive up to 96th. Street.

If you can, use mass transit to get to the MCT - those coming from Westchester & points north & east (CT) and NJ should be okay, for the most part - the #7 subway line extension is now open, with the last station stop in Manhattan stretched to 34th Street & the JJ Convention Center (the closest exit/entrance is 10th Avenue at 37 to 38 th. Street ... which is within walking distance of the pier (elevators provide access to the tracks & station concourse deep below ground/street level)

Tunnel to Towers (9/11 tribute run) is this Sunday. Not sure what time it's at. This may mess up some peoples transportation, just wanted to give a heads up.

  6. I have 3 boys ages 17,14 & 9, they would never pick up a glass & drink from it. They don't even drink from each other's glasses or anyone else's in the family. I taught them from day one never to drink or eat from someone else's plate or glass. Never know what germs they will get (a cold, a virus etc). I don't know how lazy people are leaving their glasses all over. It's not that difficult to leave at a bar or bring back to your cabin empty it in the sink & stack them for the cabin steward to grab while cleaning or bring them back to the bar when you leave your cabin. Even while walking around I'm sure there are enough responsible places to leave them or even empty them while in the bathrooms.

  7. Thanks nydrogers! I will check about the nfl network but I do not remember it before only espn international but they usually have national games televised as last thanksgiving we watch all the games that day.

Thank you. We are from NY & would like to watch the Jet game. By us it is on NFL network & another station. Just want my husband to be able to watch it. Again have a great time.

  8. A question probably not for this board but was wondering if you could find out for me if they have the NFL network. My husband & I will be sailing on the November 8th cruise to Bahamas & Florida. We are interested in watching football & there is a game on Thursday night. Thanks in advance & looking forward to your live report. Have a great vacation & Happy Anniversary!!

  9. There will be plenty of photo ops on the ship aside from any private session you might book. The package for pre purchase is probably totally seperate from any pictures which would be offered from the private session I'm sure.

The Pre Purchase Pkg would include pics from any of the photogs stationed around the atrium with backgrounds set up. These photos are lovely and look very professional. Also, there will be casual photos taken at embarkation, and in ports at the piers. Photographers circle the dining rooms, etc and offer to take photos which sometimes turn out very nice.

All your photos will be stored in binders in the Photo Gallery. A number on your Room Card designates your binder, so they are easy to find. We usually find a few worth purchase ( can't imagine buying 30 large photos ) and have never spent even close to $250. I doubt your savings for pre purchase of a package is that much and I believe they offer discount packages on the ship as well.

Thank you for the info. I'm having my TA look into it. If the private session photos aren't included in pre packaged photos, we will probably not do the package. Thanks again!

  10. We had a private photo shoot done on the Pearl last year. They had a small inside studio set up on Deck 12 near the spa. There were backdrops, props, etc and the entire session lasted about an hour. I have to tell you these were some of the best photos we have EVER had done. The photographer carefully framed each shot, including ones of us running, laughing etc., it was outstanding! If Prestige Studios is the vendor, we highly recommend!!

Thank you for for the info. I will have to find out if that is the company on the Breakaway. Just wondering if pricing is better to prepurchased or will they be better on the ship. Pre purchase price is $249 for 30 pics & they give you 5 free.

  11. I saw Private photo sessions advertised on the Getaway. No sitting fee. So I'm sure it will be on the Breakaway as well. But why pre purchase? Is there a substantial discount?

From some of the comments here, it sounds like your best bet is to forget the pre purchase, get the free session, view the results and then negotiate a price for what you want.

On the MyMCL section they have a package of 30 pics for $249 & you get 5 free. Never been on a cruise so I'm not sure if they will be cheaper on the boat. Not sure if we will Ike 35 pics or if we will even get that many taken. We normally go to Beaches & they have photographers walking the resort all the time. We usually have over 200 pics to choose from & we usually find a bunch that we love.

  12. My family be be traveling on the Breakaway in November (Our 1st cruise) I would like to pre-purchase a photo package, but not sure if it is a good idea. I was wondering if any past cruisers have had a private family photo shoot? We have been on several all inclusives that we were able to have a photographer for about 30 minutes take photos of all of us & then we had a lot of options to choose from. I don't want to waste money buying a package & not have enough photos. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

  13. Thank you for all the info. It will really help me & my family (husband, 3 sons (17, 14, & 9) & myself. We are going on the Breakaway on Nov 8th (will be our 1st cruise). We got an oceanview family suite The only scheduled excursion we have is Atlantis Aquaventure. Was looking to get a small cabana on the private island but they are all booked. I have a question will I be able to possibly book one on the boat?
