Sorry I have absolutely no animosity towards gays, but why is there a need for this gathering?

It seems double standards to me where gays complain when they are singled out, but I would have thought it would be better just to ‘blend in’ with others on the ship.

When it comes to diversity etc, they say they want to be included with everyone else, but at the same time have an event(s) like this that excludes other people, or do many straights attend.

It seems a bit hypocritical to me.

I don’t know, it would be good to get on a ship and be free of politics, religion, race even diversity and treat all fellow guests the same for that short period of time we are together, and just enjoy the sights, sounds and food that come our way.

Perhaps it’s an age thing, but can someone enlighten me where my thoughts are wrong.

Totally agree for what it’s worth.

Sorry but it might not have been Covid he had. Who knows he might have the dreaded cabin cough from the air conditioning, maybe he had gone for a meal else where but was joining friends or something.

The mentality now is that it is a cold we never tested before for a cold so why do it now... A lot of colleagues I work with and myself feel the same.

Myself would still go to a restaurant over a cough and make sure I cover my mouth when I am going to. I no when I am ill. If I am to the point I feel really bad then I do stay in the cabin.

Unfortunately that’s just common sense in a world without any.

When in Shanghai some years ago for work, many restaurants used electronic booking through an app called WeChat. This is the Chinese equivalent of WhatsApp. You booked your table through the app, arrived in time and joined the inevitable queue. Once in the queue you scanned a QR code displayed on the wall, this opened up a page in the app telling you how many bookings in front of you, and the approximate waiting time. Once you were down to the last few the menu was sent to the app so you could order. You then went to your table once it was available and the food was delivered by the waiting staff. After the meal was over you scanned the QR code on the table and the bill was paid via the credit card linked to the app. All seamless, and unfortunately soulless. It reduced the waiting staff to background automatons. I really hope this is not the future for P and O.

China is the blue print for the world I’m afraid

  4. How are things on Ventura now? Was it sorted?

Was on Ventura over Christmas & new year. Sad to say it was as bad as ever. Food in self service area was served to you by staff. Tea & coffee was cordoned off and also served to you. This was not done from the start of the cruise which considering there was problems on previous cruise we felt that this would have contributed to it. Not sure there was ever a deep clean before we boarded ship. Been on Ventura before & although we enjoyed the cruise felt it was not as clean in public areas as it should be. Ventura will Limp into its refit in March. Maybe 5 years between refit’s is to long.

  5. Was at ocean terminal yesterday morning having just got off Britannia. Passengers were going up escalator at 9:45 for the next cruise. So anything P&O do to improve embarkation passengers just ignore. It's a bit like when your on a plane and as soon as the seat belt sign goes off everybody jumps up as if there is a cash prize for first 10 passengers who get off first.

  6. Just back from Genoa to Southampton like eddie11. I would say given she is an older ship the crew work not stop & is immaculate. Did the galley walk through & was unbelievably spotless. Enjoyed Oceana as much as Britannia & she was just in service for 3 months when we sailed on her.

  7. Recently off Ventura at Christmas and would highly recommend loro parque Tenerife. Not to be missed.

Madeira - toboggan and cable car

I was on this cruise too. Would recommend these two trips also. Do cable car and toboggan on your own not through P&O.

  8. I would suggest grabbing a nice lunch in Southampton and then wander down to the docks nearer your boarding time. You could drop your luggage off earlier if you want.

This is definitely the best approach. Why wait in the terminal when you could be in a bar restaurant or shopping. If you stick to your checking in time you should be on the ship within 30min.

  9. Been to the Epicurean restaurant twice now & think it is well worth the money. If you think you would not get the same service and quality of food on land for £28pp. Give it a try I don't think you will be disappointed.

  10. Not always possible I know but we booked a Christmas cruise on Ventura whilst on Britannia this month. While the cost of the cruise was the same as online we got amazing on board spend. And P&O are happy to pass deal to your travel agent if you wish. So if there is a future cruise you fancy when on board it may be worth an ask.
