  1. Don't go a terrible waste of time and money. Royal Caribbean should be ashamed of themselves... Needs some serious cleaning up!

When you say needs some "cleaning up," what are you referring to exactly?

I took the tour in 2016 and felt that the island had a lot of trash on it. Did you find this to be true as well?

  2. I took this tour with family in April 2016. We loved it.

You board a motorboat right off the Labadee dock and Amiga Island is about a 20 minute ride from there. Our tour had about 30 people. Once on the island, most people claimed a chair. There is plenty of seating and hammocks. At the time of our trip, one free drink was included on the island and more for purchase from the little bar. Drinks were good and they offered a 2 rum punches for $5 special.

The water and beach was beautiful. You can easily walk completely around the island in about 5 minutes - it is very small. When we went, there was a small out-house for a restroom.

We explored towards the middle of the little island, through the brush and trees, and found that there was a small area full of trash, almost like a mini landfill. It was somewhat sad to see, considering the serene beauty of the island. If you stick to the beach area, you won't see it, nor will it bother you, but my Dad and I both were surprised to see it trashed like that.

The trip could easily be longer, only about 3 hours, because RCCL attempts to cash in on the excursion by running a morning and afternoon tour to double up on revenue.

All in all, it was a great excursion. We loved the beach, drinks, and the ocean. It was nice to be away from the crowds at Labadee and it truly did feel like a scene out of a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. My family is taking a cruise in 2019 that includes a stop at Labadee. Barring something unforeseen, the popular opinion of our group is to take this tour again.

  3. Took this excursion when on Allure OTS in early April. Best excursion of our cruise. We took the early trip, as I find weather conditions to be more pleasant in the mornings. The crew was friendly and professional. Drinks were cheap and tasty, especially the rum punch (had several of those). The beach was perfect and the water (at least on our day) was clear and warm. I'd rebook this excursion in a heartbeat. I attached some pics.

  4. You won't regret it. Actually we ended up choosing Amiga at the last minute as Malfini cancelled on us at the last minute, with less than 24 hours notice. We literally came back from our Jamaica excursion to find a note on our bed that Malfini cancelled on us. We were so angry at the time, but so happy with what we ended up getting at Amiga island that it more than made up for it.

Was your Malfini excursion cancelled due to weather???

  5. I've been very curious about the Amiga Island tour. My family will be in Labadee this April. We are currently booked on the "Castaway at Malfini" beach tour, but we were considering switching to the Amiga Island tour. It just seems slightly more exotic and unique. Perhaps someone, maybe Purplegrapefruit, could steer us in the best direction. At this point, we are pretty torn! Any suggestions?

  6. This excursion looks very interesting. I'll be sailing to Labadee early April on the Allure of the Seas. We already booked the "Castaway at Malfini" excursion, however we are now considering taking the afternoon tour to Amiga Island. Have you been able to find out any other information/feedback about this tour?
