I believe (if I understand everything correctly) you can use 1 certificate if you are in an inside or oceanview room. You can use TWO (2) certificates (for a limited time from the sound of the email I received) if you are in a Balcony or above.
I think the certificates are applied to the cost of your cruise. Because when you sign up for excursions, don't you pay for them upfront ... even if you have a pending cruise balance ?
p.s. I am booked on the Pearl TA 04/28/2019 also. I used 1 certificate because I am in an inside gty. cabin.
When you are on board and you buy a cruisenext certificate, you get on board credit for the cruise you are on. When you put a deposit on a future cruise you use your certificate (sometimes 2 can be used if the special promotion is going). If you are on a cruise in early 2019, the TA itinerary may not be available to book for 2020 (I tried to book a spring 2020 TA cruise and it wasn't available in 11/2018 as they had not published it yet). You can get extra perks if you book a cruise while you are on a cruise. The certificates can be transferred to family members (and others) too, which is why you can buy them on e-bay, but they must be used when you put down your deposit, not after you have already booked the cruise.

I bid and haven't heard anything. Was in the lowest level suite. All suites are showing sold out at present. Still have 70+ days left until sailing. Gonna be patient and be happy with whatever, including staying in the booked cabin, because...hey... I will be on vacation and in a tropical setting. I don't have to make the bed or cook my meals. Everything is wonderful.

We are on the POA on Sept 1, 79 days away. Didn't receive an email and no messages in myncl. Does that mean the agency I booked through doesn't participate or could I still get the opportunity to bid. I've been following this post and was looking forward to doing it

I am on POA Sept 1 also; in an obstructed oceanview suite and got the email to bid last week. All categories above mine were available in the e-mail even though some show as sold out. I would be happy with any of them as all have a balcony, but I would really like a hot tub on my balcony. Will be happy in my oceanview if my any of my bids (low to medium) are not accepted. I booked through NCL when on a cruise last fall.

My bid for a family suite (SJ) was just accepted for the Dawn on 10/27. Do I get all of the perks associated with this cabin just like as if I booked it or is it just an upgrade of the room only?
You get the perks for the room, but not any other promotions (like dining/drink package or free internet different than what you got for the original room).

Does anybody know whether they ever send another e-mail after the first one? Meaning, if you don't bid the first time but suites remain unsold later, do they e-mail again?

It came up on MyNCL whenever I signed in. I don't think they sent another e-mail.

I'm packing for next Sundays Breakaway cruise from NYC to Nassau and back and got everything in a 26 inch hard side rolling suitcase and a rolling backpack (pulse the purse, you know). Used the packing cubes and cut down on stuff, a lot. Wonder what everything will look like Friday am when I leave the house for NYC?

Just returned from a Caribbean cruise and didn't use half of the clothes I packed. I will wash the ones used and repack them for my cruise in 6 weeks, then I will add a few cold weather clothes as we will leave from NYC!

Where is the "LIKE" button. Your granddaughter is beautiful. She will enjoy cruising with Grandpa. Enjoy her, they grow up too fast!

When my boys were little and I sent them to camp, I packed a days worth of clothing (tee shirt/shorts/socks) in a ziplock bag (quart or sandwich size) compressed the air out and put one in for each day of the camp (14). He came back with 2 used and 12 unused bags! I now put stuff in the small bags and compress the air out to fit more in a small bag. I always bring extra bags, they are great for damp/wet clothes, leaky bottles, etc. Prior to my last cruise I gathered stuff and packed my bag 2 weeks early. 2 days before leaving I unpacked everything and left half of it at home! Still didn't wear everything on a 7 day cruise! I am getting better and only brought carryon size bags, although I checked them (for free) on the way home and took only those things you shouldn't pack on the plane with me.
Can't wait for my next cruise to refine my packing skills.

Recently, I was on the Jade and they offered even more credit if you booked the new cruise while on the Jade. Maybe that will be offered in March. You cannot use the certificate if you already booked the cruise, must be used at time of booking. I plan on knowing what cruise I want to do next time I cruise so I can book my new cruise while at sea.

We did water bikes in Ketchican and Train/bike in Skagway. Both were independent tours booked online before leaving. Did the dog sled/glacier tour in Juneau through the ship. The helicopter up to the dog sled camp on the Glacier was amazing. Research every option before booking. Next time I go to Alaska I want to do the land/cruise tours. One week is not enough!

We took NCL out of Seattle end of May 2015. We were lucky with good weather and were able to see the Tracy Arm glacier. Bring layers, gloves/mittens, hats, scarves, long johns. It gets cold near the glacier even if it is "nice" in the port. After doing a round trip cruise I would suggest looking into one way trips. You get more ports. See if the airfare works. Hotels in Seattle are pricy, as is transportation (unless you use bus/train). You may want to take your whale watch out of your start/end port and spend some extra time there. We did not see whales on our cruise unless you went on a whale watch excursion. NCL has kids clubs that get good reviews. Cruises out of the US need to have one port in Canada (in order to traverse Canadian waters) so you may get more Alaska ports by leaving/arriving from Vancouver. We had to stop in Victoria which is a hop, skip, jump away from Seattle. Have fun planning. It is worth the effort.

Maya Key may have already been sold out. Only available through the cruise line per their web site and they fill up quickly. Very popular excursion. Maybe they can put you on a wait list. They stop advertising it when it fills up so you don't see it listed as an excursion. Have fun on your cruise. Mine leaves in 5 days!

Hi LuciC, I will be on the Jade Sat Feb 6th also and am signed up for the meet and greet. See you there. I enjoyed this review and looked forward to each installment. I don't think our weather will be as volatile as Oakman58's, it looks like 60's in Houston and a little rain maybe, coming and going.

Please keep the review coming. I am leaving for this cruise in 10 days. I may bring an extra sweater or two, and long pants, if the weather is as cool as you say near Houston. Please tell me it warmed up.

Interesting questions. I don't know about yellow fever specifically, however many vaccinations need booster shots if one is not exposed to the thing being vaccinated against. We get flu shots every year so that we have a strong immune response when exposed to the virus' in the vaccine. It takes a few days to weeks for the body to ramp up after exposure to prevent the illness. Perhaps yellow fever is one that needs a booster after a few years. Some vaccines, like rabies, can be given after exposure because it takes so long to become symptomatic. I don't think I'd take the chance of visiting an area where the illness was present without being vaccinated, however I understand some people cannot be immunized and some refuse vaccinations.
