  1. We booked dinner on the edge for our cruise to Norway next month. We had drinks out there before and felt it would be a nice dinner experience, even at the cost. My bigger concern is what night they hold it depending on other plans we have since it shows up as first day at noon on our itinerary.

  2. We just got off the Silhouette in a Celebrity Suite.  Food in the Craft Social was only included as a paid option.  We did go down to Luminae and ordered a couple of Fish and Chips ( which were on the MDR menu) and the Maitre D delivered it to our table in Craft Social.

  3. I think it becomes a matter of the sustainability of the cruise lines offering and value. I am an older cruiser and I too, do not need a go-kart track, sky-diving, etc. However, I realize my cruising years will come to an end eventually and the lines future viability is dependent on attracting the next generation of cruisers who will evolve very differently than my generation did. Their likes and interests will vary widely from mine just as mine vary from my parents. While my DW and I are Princess Elite, even today we forgo the "perks" and look to RCCL or NCL when selecting our multi-generational family cruises. Princess will have to innovate eventually if it hopes to preserve its place in the cruise line hierarchy.

  4. The Club Class menu is the regular menu plus one or two additional items at each dinner--typically one main and one either appetizer or desert. We found the regular menu to be good' date=' but we ordered several of the CC entrees. On at least one occasion, the same steak was listed on CC and regular menus, but we were told that the CC was better quality.

If you are asking about Royal vs Caribbean Club Class, I can't answer that part.[/quote']

Thanks. We are in a suite on the Royal Princess to the Britsh Isles. We did the Regal to the Baltic two years ago and the MDR dining was the lo-light of the cruise so excited about the Club Class dining this time.

  5. For a week or longer I wear on a pair of casual walking shoes and pack running shoes, flip flops, black dress shoes, brown loafers and clipless bike shoes for the spin classes in the fitness center. Less than a week and I skip either the dress shoes or loafers and the bike shoes.

  6. Took Uber FLL to Miami cruise port last Feb ad was great. However, on disembarkation it was a different story because we did not know where to pick-up the Uber. Coming off a RCCL ship we ended up in area with large buses, embarking passengers dropping off, traffic officers trying to direct traffic, had mix-up when we grabbed the wrong Uber (same make model) and just the general chaos of the debarkation/embarkation process.

If anyone knows if/where there is a designated pick-up point at Miami cruise terminal that would be helpful.

  7. You would be very hard pressed to not admit these are extraordinary circumstances. They did not just cancel or change a port...they restructured the entire cruise that they marketed and sold four shiploads full. In fact they eliminated 3 of the 5 ports of call and replaced only 1 with a much inferior port.

All I am suggesting is that understanding this is an extraordinary set of circumstances they should make right to their customers by waiving cancellation fees. It would even be fine if they just opened a window of say 48 to 72 hours to allow people who sign up for one thing and are being deliver another to make up their mind.

Believe me, I have been on the phone to Viking 3 times today. The CS agents there are overwhelmed and inundated with angry passenger calls. This is not doing well for their reputation as a top-tier cruise line, irregardless of the cancellation fee issue.

  8. We had 3 cabins on the 12/1 sailing and cancelled them all today. As CC1943 and TCNH expressed, not everyone is happy and in fact many are very disappointed and upset. When calling into Viking today on 3 different occasions to discuss the cancellation options, I experienced 30 minute waits due to the massive amounts of calls. The agents I spoke to were very candid about the number of people calling regarding cancellations and having to deal with one call after another from angry, disgruntled and sometimes not so pleasant vacationers.

The emails and literature Viking has put out has tried to put a positive spin on this to fend off the mass exodus but apparently it is not working so well. I have noticed in looking at the Viking booking site that the 4, what are now called Cultural Cuba (there's that spin again) cruises that were formerly sold out, now have plenty of cabins available with more to come. I cancelled over 8 hours ago as of this writing, and have yet to receive confirmation of my cancellation and my cabins are still listed as sold. I inquired back to confirm they received my email notice to cancel (Viking's process for these cancellations) and the agent said the cancellation backlog may take several days to clear out.

Whatever the business side of this becomes of this for Viking is TBD (I imagine they will be losing money on these undersold, over compensated cruises), but for those of you sticking with them through this unfortunate event, the good news is you will likely have much more room on the ship to enjoy for yourselves.
