  1. Ok sorry i just know parts of it are correct they must have switched some of it around then... Because we are on an upcoming Dream cruise and Brandon will be our CD he left the conference to transition with Hennie after having been in the Elation...

  2. It is true we always buy cheers but the people next to us in our last cruise were voicing their annoyance quite loudly to the casino host that their drinks on us in the casino should not count towards theirs cheers cards as in cruises passed. To which the manager replied it was a new policy. But inthe fine print of your cheers program people do not always see that if you reach your limit you can still purchase drinks as long as a bartender does not or has not cut you off... Personally I reached my limit with cheers on the Magic but was still well in control of myself so I was allowed to purchase per drink after 15.. But on same hand I have seen people be cut off after 4 drinks on the cheers program(same Magic cruise)

  3. We have done both as well independent and booking with csrnival and for the money the carnival booked dolphin swim and buffet all inclusive was hands down the most bang for our for buck!!! The food was good time in the water with those wonderful creatures in a small group setting was phenomenal and given the opportunity we wouldn't hesitate to take this excursion again. But our next cruise is with a group so we are seeking out something a little different like Mr Sancho's still all inclusive but close to the port so no chance of missing the ship:D

  4. We took the Magic out of galveston last year in the same time frame... That is Mardi Gras week so get ready for crowds on the island as well as in the ship!!! Hotels will raise their prices that week and they will be hard to come by also traffic in the ferry as well as the roads leading to the port will be jam packed.. My advice book a room now get there early enjoy the sights and prepare for a fully packed ship as some schools are out for the Mardi Gras holiday

  5. We were on the Elation in July and ATD will be in the MDR Front of ship and you will enter through the atrium. The elation maybe a little older but she is amazing! I'm sure you will enjoy yourself. We always went through the casino to the front elevators and down to the atrium for the entrance. That way I knew we wouldn't get lost lol!! Enjoy your cruise!!!

  6. We were on the Magic the first week of February traveling to cozumel and progreso and the temps were in the upper 80's low times the whole trip! We did however where wind breakers the first evening and first sea day morning as there was a light nip in the air. It was fun to be in the beautiful tropics and then wake up the last morning to boots jeans and long sleeve shirt to disembark lol. However you will LOVE the Elation and cozumel and progreso in January beautiful weather. If you get the chance the dolphin swim and lunch in cozumel with unlimited buffet and drinks is well worth the money!

  7. If you enjoyed the Breeze and have time to wait, when the Magic makes her transition to PC this is the ship you want to consider! Having cruised recently she was amazing! The upgrades coming to her will only make her better as she was the newest ship in the fleet prior to the arrival of the Vista which hasn't even had her inaugural sailing yet. The decor, amenities, and entertainment are top notch and her staff is unbelievably friendly and personable in every aspect of their job duties.

  8. The port that you stop at in cozumel is owned by csrnival though if I'm not mistaken... Everyone seemed to be somehow csrnival employed when we asked a vendor why they couldn't haggle he said the had no room to price drop because they had to pay for their spot at the dock.. Again just could have been a tactic to keep prices up

  9. We are firm believers in the cheers program! Being from Texas we can tell you that the Texas sales tax along with regulations on what they can and can't sell while in the channel prevent carnival from selling the first day. However, you WILL NOT have to pay for the full length of the cruise on the second day. It will be prorated and also will not include the morning of debarkation as they will not be selling anything that morning... On all other sailings DW and I have always purchased CHEERS imediately upon arrival, we learned our lesson leaving out of galveston, we decided to drink drink by drink that first night and decide in cheers for the next morning... 6 drinks a piece later between embarkation and bedtime including tip and we had paid for CHEERS for one of us (on a 5 day cruise). Cheers pays for itself if you deinks 5-6 drinks a person per day that may seem like a lot but I like a Bloody Mary or mimosa and the DW likes a mimosa with breakfast, something fruity on the deck in the after noon, cocktail before dinner and wine with dinner, drinks at a show and a drink or 2 in the casino and you have made you limit for the day! ALSO IF YOUR SHIP HAS A STEAK HOUSE consider dining on the first night of the cruise as you will be treated to a free bottle of wine! It will not be the highest quality wine but a decent wine none the less and so not have to open it immediately and you can take back to your cabin to open at your leisure!!

  10. This is wrong on many levels. Instead of graduated comps based on winnings should be based on losses. That way everybody can come away from the casino with something besides a hole in their pocket.

By the way what was your game slots, black jack, poker?

    Congrats.

We played the slots all and all we spent close to 2000 in the casino everything else was take home so we didn't really gain anything for winning. And also a pet of my first post didn't make it in the thread!!! Wierd!!!! When we asked about the free cruise at guest services it was a gift to a group of fellow cruisers including us who broke the 3000-3500 point threshold during the cruise. So in a since we gambled enough that the cruise to Jamaica was paid for on the July cruise lol

  11. My wife and I were recently in the Elation July2015 and had an unexpected yet delightful expirience! First evening in the casino I hit for $2500.00 thinking cool good start! Next morning my wife and I were both well over the 1500 points required for free drinks in the casino but both having cheers card the perk was a moot point we said not a problem and kept playing. I hit for another $1000.00 the manager comes up and says Mr. Leasman we realize you have the cheers card so we would like to offer you and your wife a steak house selection dinner and a bottle of wine compliments of the casino!!! We said thank you very much that it was most kind and above there requirements as it was a $100.00 value. After dinner that evening we went back to our room to relax before the show, diner was amazing by the way wine we saved for a later date, and there were chocolate covered strawberries and a note from the casino manager for my wife saying he hoped we enjoyed dinner and our wine. The next evening I hit another $1000.00 pot in the casino and life was great! We placed all our winning on our S&S account covering all purchases on the cruise and basically paying for the cruise and hotel itself! When we re entered our room that night there was a letter from the hat trick casino saying as a valued guest of the casino please enjoy a free cruise on them (inside cabin) so the wife started dancing!!! So we are going to Jamaica in November for the cost of port fees it will be a nice getaway for us in between family cruises this next year!

  12. We took the dolphin swim through carnival to dolphinarus and for us it was pay by picture or a CD with the whole group in the pool and the video was everyone in the pool at time you were.. As we didn't know anyone other than our selves it wasn't worth the price to have to edited to the size of just us after purchasing it! They attempt to get the pictures with each individual and not with family members together to sell more pictures but they some times slip us as was in our case. We selected 3 pictures for $75.00 one of reach of riding/swimming with the dolphin and one of both of us petting the dolphin at the same time (their slip up lol). We were happy with what Howe got as it is a memory you will cherish for a life time! And they are good quality pictures developed onsite that you can take back to ship immediately. A few others bought the CD which was a burned copy for $150/200 only to find out the disk was blank a quick call to the dolphin sanctuary and all thermir pictures where mailed to them in hard copy! I hope this helps!!!

  13. Thanks everyone we are just trying to feel everything out usually we book directly through carnival when it is just my wife and I. I contacted carnival via their web page for a group quote and was told a rep would contact me in 24-48 hours... That was 6 days ago lol we are not in a hurry so I can be patient. But we realy enjoy all the forums and reviews on the legend and think Alaska will be a fun family adventure!

  14. Hey everyone my wife and I are planning an entire family(both sides) cruise to Alaska next year. We are looking to cruise carnival as we prefer the pricing and the fun ship atmosphere, however we will be needing 8-10 cabins and input on transportation (airfare vs driving vs Amtrak). And of course since we will be footing most of the bill we prefer to get the best deal possible any tips hints or prior expiriences from yall would be much appreciated!!! Also for those that have traveled in large groups is it possible to get all the cabins side by side so we don't have to hunt each other down? Which dining is better with a large group? Again thanks for any and all input

  15. Carnival is usually very accommodating to cruisers whom have early flights on disembarkment day. Notifying guest services upon arrival of your flight itenorary as well as notifying them by phone ahead of time will ease your mind. They will assist you in every way they can to make sure catch your flight
