  1. Hi everyone! My cruise ship leaves tomorrow from Bayonne and it docks in St. Martin on Monday, August 7th from 12:15pm until 8:00pm. I REALLY want to go into Anguilla because I have been to St. Maarten a bunch of times. I'm a little nervous about taking a cab to Marigot, then getting on the ferry to Anguilla, then to a beach and then back. Has anyone personally done this/ would or would not reccommend it? Is the public ferry reliable?

    Any advice is helpful :)

  2. Hi, Thanks so much for your reply! I have a few beaches in mind for Anguilla that we'd love to visit. Do you recall what the public ferry costs? Should I take a cab from the cruise terminal to Marigot?

We did this a few years ago. We have relatives in both St. Maarten and Anguilla, so it was a breeze to get there and back, plus we had definite plans on each side. Do you have plans for Anguilla? My husband mentioned this as I was reading your post. Unless you have specific plans, it's kind of a rushed, expensive day. ;) Just saying.

But - the ferry was great, no problems.

  3. Hi! I did look up the ferry times but I wanted to know if those prices were correct. I reached out to Calypso ferries and they wanted $90 per person plus taxes and fees. Once I disembark at noon, should I take a cab to the marigot and get onto a ferry? Is there a way to preorder tickets on the ferry? Thanks so much :)

Here is a link that gives some information. My husband used to work on Anguilla so we've done this a few times. You will need to take your passport with you.

    Public ferry

    • These run every 30 - 45 minutes. The Blowing Point (Anguilla) departures begin at 7:30am and run until 6:15pm. The Marigot(St. Martin) departures begin at 8:15am and run until 7:00pm.
    • The cost is $20.00 US per adult ($15.00 per child) each way. A $20.00 US departure tax applies to all tourists departing Anguilla through the Blowing Point Ferry Terminal. The Departure Tax for day trips is now $5.00 US travelling either direction. Rates are subject to change.
    • Marigot is located in Saint Martin, the French side of the island. Travel between the ferry (french) and the airport (SXM) (dutch) is effortless.

  4. This is interesting. I sailed on the Anthem a few months ago in April and I found out on the LAST day that they had fresh squeezed juices in the Solarium... I am hoping to take advantage of that as I leave thisw eek on the Anthem again. I never once saw stands for fresh squeezed OJ in the promenade or anywhere else though.

Trying to grasp all the locations that we can get the freshly squeezed juices and premiums coffee's on Anthem. Getting the drink package so if I'm paying for it, I'd like to make sure I get it.

Can someone spell out the locations for these on Anthem? Trying to make one list.

    Thanks so much.

  5. Honestly, I am an avid cruiser and the Grandeur is one of my favorite ships. She may be old, but she doesnt show it and the food and service were second to none! I'd go again and again!

Whoops, I think you meant to click on a live Harmony or Anthem thread and not this review from a 21-year-old grimy Grandeur gondola. Silly you. Nobody sails on the little 'ol Vision class anymore, let alone does a live review from one. Do they even have wifi or electricity on the older vessels?

If you haven't left yet then I assume you are as crackbrained as we are and have a sick fetish for dodging shower curtains on pre-Titanic era cruise ships. If that's the case then stay tuned because we are about to party like it's 1996.

Here's the #1 hit of 1996 to get you fired up:

I kinda think that the girls in the Macarena video look just a tad bit better than the average cruise crowd doing the same dance on the pool deck after a big Windjammer lunch.

  6. I've had this debate with myself numerous times and I've found on Royal Caribbean that it is absolutely worth it. Just being able to order a drink whenever you want rather than arguing with yourself over the $12 bloody mary, makes it worth it :) I say go for it! You can even buy the package and split it with someone!

    hi all,

I am travelling on the independence of the seas in October 2017. Is the deluxe drinks package worth it? It says drinks up to $12, are there plenty of cocktails in this price range. Views appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Louisa

  7. Hey everyone! I was just wondering if anyone has ever taken the ferry from St. Maarten to Anguilla. I've been to St. Maarten a bunch of times and really want to go into Anguilla but we are in port from 12pm-8pm. I believe the last ferry back to St. Maarten is 6pm. Has anyone done this before? How much does it cost and where exactly do I go?

    Thanks so much :)

  8. Hi everyone! how are you? I am about to embark on my Anthem of the Seas cruise this upcoming Sunday. It is an 8 night cruise leaving from Bayonne. I LOVE eating in the MDR but I HAVE to try Wonderland... of course, I'd never want to miss a formal night though. Could anyone help me out & tell me for sure when the formal nights are? My itinerary is as follows:

    4/9- Cape Liberty

    4/10- Sailing

    4/11- Sailing

    4/12- Orlando

    4/13- Coco Cay

    4/14- Nassau

    4/15- Sailing

    4/16- Saiing

    4/17- Cape Liberty

    Thanks so much!

  9. Hey everyone! Just had a quick question as I am embarking on the Anthem of the Seas on April 9th for an 8 night cruise. I've been contemplating doing the BOGO 2 night speciality dining package which requires you to eat in a specialty dining for the first two nights of the cruise because I want to eat in Wonderland. However I would hate to miss a formal night in the MDR. Does anyone know when the formal nights are on an 8 night cruise? Thank you!!! Has anyone done this BOGO 2 night package?

  10. Hi! I'm sailing out of Baltimore for the first time this December on a Christmas/ NYE cruise. This will be my 11th cruise but anytime I have sailed in the winter, it has been from Florida where the weather is superb. I was wondering if you can tell me how many of the sea days will be cold? My cruise is 12 nights and the first 4 days are sea days. I'm really hoping by the 2nd/3rd day that I will be able to sit in the sun. Thanks so much

  13. I was just wondering if anyone has been to Galley Bay Beach or to Halfmoon Bay! If so, how did you get there and how did you ensure a ride back? How much did it cost and how far was it from the cruise terminal? Any information would be very helpful! Thanks

  15. Hi! I was just wondering if anyone has ever been to Half Moon Bay or Galley Bay Beach? I really want to go there but I am not sure how far it is from the port and how to ensure a ride back. Does anyone have any information or have visited there before? Thanks so much :)

  16. hi! Im setting sail on Monday, Dec 14th on RC Independence of the Seas and have never been to Falmouth. I went to the blue hole last month when I was docked in Ocho Rios. I really wanted to enjoy a beautiful beach this time. I was wondering if anyone has been to the rose hall Hilton in Montego bay and how far it is from Falmouth port? In addition, did you feel that the all inclusive package was worth the money? And was it difficult to get a ride there and back?

    Thank you,

    Jackie.

  17. hi! thank you so much for your review on the Independence of the Seas. It was comforting to me as I will be sailing this Monday Dec 14th on it. I actually am so glad that you also went to Rose Hall in Falmouth. I am about to book the all inclusive excursion there. Overall, did you feel it was worth the money? How was the beach and the food/drinks? In addition, did you have trouble getting a ride there and/or back?

    Thanks so much :)

    Jackie.

  18. Hi everyone! I will be on the independence of the seas on Monday, December 14th and I was just wondering if anyone has been to a really nice beach in or near Falmouth before! Last time I was in Jamaica, I went to a private waterfall called the Blue Hole but am looking into a beach or an all inclusive this time. Am considering the rose hall Hilton but would love recommendations !

    Thank you :)

    Jackie.

  19. This upcoming Monday, December 14th, I will be setting sail on the Independence of the Seas ship. After reading many reviews, I am a bit concerned. This will be my 10th cruise and I am 23 years old. I have sailed TWICE on the Explorer of the Seas and it was the best experience I have had thusfar. The food was incredible as well as the service and staff. The ship was overwhelmingly amazing and did not remotely compare to the other 8 carnival ships I have been on. Yet, online, many people are complaining about service, drink prices and entertainment. Has anyone had a positive experience on this ship?

In addition, this is the first time I will be docking in Falmouth. I've recently been to Ocho Rios where I went to the Blue hole and had an AMAZING time. However, I am considering going to the Hilton and paying $85 for an all inclusive day in Montego bay. Has anyone done this before? I'd appreciate comments

    Thank you,

    Jackie
