I normally bring a 6 pack of soda and a 6 pack of water with me on every RCCL cruise and have never had an issue. In fact out of RCCL's port in Puerto Rico they have their own store at the pier that sells 6 packs of water & soda that you can bring on board.

We are going out of Sydney - wonder what the deal is there..

I am going on ovation early next year and was wondering from anyone who has been on board already.

The policy says you can brig 2 x 750ml bottle of Wine or Champagne - however what is the deal with brining a tray soft drink or a tray of water?

True, if you cancel 3 days before the cruise. Not true if you cancel once on the cruise.

Thats what Royal Caribbean told me. No mention of anything different about once your on the cruise.

If we book the excursions - on our credit card - and we cancel at the last minute - i.e.. 24 - 48 hours before - how do we get the money back - OBC or refund on the credit card?

Anyone know?

Why would you expect Royal to be the same as Princess? At the end of the day what does it matter you still have to pay for the excursion.

Simple answer - what if we aren't able to attend due to medical reason or the ship can't attend the port...

Based on our experience of getting refunds from RCI so far .... i have no interest in prepaying something months in advanced - when they can't even get my refund for the cancelled Ovation Cruise ... their admin area - has a lot to be desired.

I don't want to pay for it today - I want to pay for it when I am on board - as pay for it - with my OBC I have.

As for Princess - if they can do it - then RCI can do it - I am sure they have the same customers and same issues.

If you book now through RCI and the port is missed you will get refunded the amount you paid. Also, I believe (unless things have changed since we last cruised) that RCI reserves a certain % of excursions for booking on board. You can go to the Excursions desk when you embark and book then and it will be charged to your on board account.

 

Not sure what your complaint is though-if you book your own excursions with independent vendors they are going to want payment now as well so…...

In short - I am annoyed that we can't just reserve and then use the OBC for the excursions. I will book onboard and hope for the best.

As for independent - I mean catching a cab and looking around myself.

No, I didnt. I actually much much prefer the duvet over a blanket.

Royal requires payment in full for anything booked through the cruise planner. This helps stop people from booking and reserving many things and then cancelling them later.

 

If by chance the ship didn't make it to port all your money would be refunded.

Oh well guess we will arrange our own Excursions - pretty piss poor - esp when Princess doesnt..

I am looking at booking the excursions for the Ovation Cruises we are on - but they seem to require payment now.

Wee are used to Princess and they just take the booking - and reserve it and payment is made on the ship.

Am I missing something?? Does RCI only accept immediate payment? What happens if the ship doesnt goto that port ? Full refund??

Why are they taking payment when someone like Princess doesnt?

Am I right?

I´ve sailed on the Ovation and the bedding is the same as on all other ships, though I think the duvet was not as heavy as I´ve seen it on some other ships.

 

We sailed in very hot weather and I felt the duvet was very comfortable to sleep.

Did you ask for a blanket?

While I have not been on Ovation, my guess is that they will have the exact same bedding as every other Royal Caribbean ship I have sailed. There will likely be sheets and a doona/comforter/duvet that in my opinion is way too heavy for the temperature of the cabin. You can ask your cabin attendant for a blanket. I have done that many times.

and they got the blanket for you without a problem??

For anyone who has been onboard so far - do the beds have doonas (as seems by the pics) and do they have blankets in the cupboards for those who dont like the old doona??

Tony, you do not register specific devices. Yes, you can log in and out on different devices. You can only have the number of devices in use simultaneously as you have purchased a package for. (one, two, three, etc.)

Awesome - just what i wanted to know - only issue now - is that we are on 4 cruises - from the 28th Jan to 6th march and I have to purchase individually and pay individually for the internet - rather than putting them all into my cart and pay for it once..

Arghh - has anyone had any experience in doing it in one go rather than multiple?

Also- any idea - do they take the money out of my cc now- or when we cruise??

Can someone tell me - you purchase by device - 1, 2, 3 etc.

Can someone confirm - does this mean - you can only have one device online at a time - or one registered for the entire cruise?

ie. If I have a iPhone and iPad.. if I connect on my iPhone then my iPad is offline - but when I go back to the cabin - I log off the iPhone and connect the Ipad..

Can I do that??

Can you post the details - we can't see it in Australia.

What I got from the press release is that they tried a new Propeller design which was supposed to reduce fuel consumption, but it didn´t, so they are now changing Propellers to the "old" design.

 

Sounds to me like it´s not a change of Azipods, but just the Propeller.

thats how I read it too Paul. Sounds like they tried to use a different propeller on this ship compared to the Quantum and Anthem - to get a better speed - clearly it didn't work. so they have to go back and replace it.

thing i don't get - is that doesn't it have to go to dry dock - doesn't it take 3 or 4 days to empty dry dock and 3 days to refill???

Thanks for that - I guess the question is more - when are they going to tell us - and why delay it to Mid 2016 - for Feb 2017 - not much time to make arrangements - bookings - book leave etc. etc.

First time poster here.

I have booked on ovation for 14 days Syd to Syd in Jan 2017 and then the repositioning cruise to Singapore.

After that the ship seems to vanish off the schedule.

I asked RCI what's happening and they said they won't know till Mid 2016.

Seems a little short notice to leave that late for Feb 2017.

Anyone heard anything about where they are going after Singapore in Jan 2017???
