  1. We will be sailing on the Harmony of the Seas is just about 3 weeks.  My dad has been recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and needs to sleep with a cpap machine which requires distilled water.  Is it available on board?  We tried calling RCCL and we tried requesting it but my husband wasn't sure the customer service rep really understood him.  We can stop a buy a gallon before we board but we weren't sure we'd be able to get it on board....

    Thanks in advance

  2. Yes this is someone onboard. The person is actually called the Loyalty Ambassador and Future Cruise Consultant. They are in the office where you would book a future cruise. If you cannot find it, just ask Guest Services.

Oh! I didn't realize it was the same as the future cruise person... We've booked future cruise's on the Freedom before so I know exactly where it is. Thanks!

  3. You don't really earn the points until you complete the cruise. However, it is up to the Loyalty Ambassador onboard if you will get Diamond benefits. Speak with them about your upcoming change of level, but don't be surprised if they decline to make any changes.

Is this someone that is on board that I would ask for? It can't hurt to ask right?! :)

I guess my daughter is lucky in that her status is actually earned... she doesn't have to worry about it when she turns 18...she earned those diamond points ... Though I think she'll have to get to Diamond+ on her own though :D Not that we'll stop bringing her on cruises...but it took us 10 years to get to Diamond....

  4. I thought I'd post this in here since it is related to "turning diamond".

We are currently Emerald and just 3 points away from turning Diamond... We're booked on the Freedom in August so we'll be turning Diamond on that cruise. When we turned Emerald a couple of years ago it was during a cruise and we received the Emerald benefits during our cruise...we received our pins in our state rooms and got whatever coupons there were at the time (I don't remember...loosing brain cells quickly...turning 50 this year...sad..I know..)

So, I was wondering since we'll be turning Diamond during this cruise, does this meant we'll get the Diamond benefits during this cruise? Has anyone experienced this? Just curious... Been reading about the Diamond lounge, etc.. Sounds kind of cool. We actually weren't planning on taking another cruise this year but my parents wanted to take a trip and a cruise is the easiest thing for us to do with them so...

    Thanks for the info!

  5. We got an email about that also but it said suite guests, pinnacle, diamond and diamond plus can show up at any time after 12:30

Hope it's just to stagger boarding times and has nothing to do with the noro virus.

We didn't get a call but our friends who we're traveling with (who are on the same deck as we are) did. We're on deck 9 and they were told to arrive at 2.

  6. On day 4 of our Independence cruise, the dress code suggestion in Cruise Compass was "Smart Casual (Suggested Black & White)"

I was collar and tie, and wife was white dress. Many chose to ignore this and had open collars and different coloured dress.

    Hope this helps

Thank you!!! When I had read it before we had assumed it was a formal night - well that sure does change things :)

  7. Can't wait to read your next post! We will be boarding the Indy on the 12th!!!

I would love to hear about the Black and White night... I had read about it on another post. Has that happened yet?? We were wondering if that was one of the formal nights....still trying to decide on what to pack!!!

    Thanks!

  8. Ask your stateroom attendant when you can expect the bag. Don't be surprised to be offered the bag whenever you want.

We're just 30 days away from our 14 day cruise and are starting to get a little worried about how much to pack too. This is great to know!

  9. We are going to be on the cruise just before yours... We'll be getting off as you are getting on... This will be our second time on the ship... we were on the IOTS back in February and loved the ship and are looking forward to sailing on her again. This will be our first time sailing on her in Europe - there is someone on our cruise that this will be her 5th trip on her! That says something!

I think you will always find people who like to complain... Do I love absolutely everything about it .. well no... but do I love it overall... a big YES!!!!

  10. I'm not Off2China, but they posted elsewhere that their ship's departure from Southampton in late Oct. was delayed by three days because of that massive storm that hit the UK and some of northern Europe. (We had left England a couple of days prior and sailed south into the storm as we approached the Bay of Biscay.)

Vigo is very do-able on your own in terms of walking around, and the ship docks right in front of the old quarter of the city. You can find a number of walking tour maps and other info here:

    http://www.turismodevigo.org/en

However, imho, Vigo is not the most interesting of places. If you haven't been to Santiago de Compostela, I would strongly recommend taking a tour there, even a ship's tour, rather than spending the day in Vigo.

We have heard lots of great things about Santiago de Compostela, but unfortunately this is going to be the last stop on our trip...and based on all the other things we're doing I think we're hoping to keep this day as less $ as we can get it... especially since we're planning on spending 3 days in London after the cruise... So I think we've decided to just spend the day walking around Vigo. Thanks for the link!

  11. Well, it doesn't really matter now. The cruise is over and the ship missed Vigo (and Le Havre, and Ponta Delgada) anyway. :(

Do you mind me asking why you had to miss Vigo and where you stopped instead? I had tried contacting Brendan last year and never heard back.

That is the last of our stops on our cruise this summer... We've decided to "do nothing" at this stop since the only private tours I could find were way more $ than we wanted to spend.... and we really don't like doing ship tours. We're sailing on the Independence of the Seas.

    Thanks

  12. That's too bad...he had gotten such great reviews in here. Do you mind me asking - did you go with another tour? I did contact another tour operator recommended in here who did get back to me with a quote and it was way more than we wanted to spend...

Looks like I have to go back to the drawing board for this stop...

    Thanks

  13. I was wondering if you ever got a response from him? I've tried sending him several messages but never received a response. We're actually trying to book him for a tour for August of next year since he's gotten such great reviews in the past. Has anyone heard from him recently?

    Thanks
