  1. I am hoping it is good as I will be on the eclipse starting June 9.  One year after your question.  I had great success on the Celebrity Summit in April.  And great success on the Celebrity beyond in December.  I think I win more on Celebrity than I do on Royal.  I am almost Sapphire level on Celebrity and will get there this next cruise.

I would like to know what new slots they have on the eclipse.

To piggyback off this, it states: "*Until further notice, due to limited capacity only guests Sapphire and above sailing in a Suite category will have access to the VIP Lounge" so they at least give you the illusion this benefit may come back

The current pdf language regarding VIP lounge access says this:

"VIP Lounge Access is granted to Michael’s Club and/or Retreat Lounge wherever applicable."  it no longer limits it to suite guests.  Someone may have pointed out the ludicrousness of the requirement since suite guests already have access.  I will test it on the Eclipse in August.  I will make it to Sapphire in June.

Definitely pack your sea sickness aid of choice.

We did a Sensation cruise to Nassau 15-20 years ago with another hurricane with a similar track between the US and Bermuda and the return trip to port canaveral from Nassau was rocking and rolling quite a bit.

Wasn't too bad at sea, but when I went into a store back on land on the way home the next morning, it felt like we were still on the ship the night before.

Last track I saw had it going nowhere near any islands in the Caribbean or Bahamas and cutting directly between us here in Charleston, SC and Bermuda, heading towards a windy, rainy day somewhere north. (where if it hits in NY/NJ as a thunderstorm, it wil be called superstorm Lee)

15-20 years ago the ships didn't have the stabilizers they have now.

  4. take your jewelry to a local jewelry who does appraisals and have it appraised.  we bought a ring on NVL Bliss- not effy.  The designer was from India and runs his own Gem business there now.  I since ordered a custom made diamond rings - white and chocolate diamonds in an infinity pattern and we had it appraised.  It appraised several hundred  dollars more than what we paid. (we paid 1200 and it appraised at 1700.)  I don't get those people who go on a cruise, buy stuff, then complain about it.  don't buy anything if you are just going to complain.  We buy stuff we like, stuff you won't find elsewhere.  The cost be damned.  If you are worried about not getting value for your money, stay out of the shops.  Effy is a New York based company.  go visit them there.

  5. makes one hesitate to book early.  No real benefit except in cabin class.  NCL's policies have changed for lots of things (like bringing on bottled water or drones) and although after this year I will be close to Platinum, I am seriously considering moving my cruise line loyalty to Royal Caribbean.  They seem more passenger friendly.  Any thoughts?  I have not yet sailed with Royal.  We generally always get a suite (Haven on NCL) and Royal seems to have some nice suites and suite amenities.

  6. NCL Bliss Trans-Atlantic april 21, 2018

B1 room 9922 with the biggest alf B1 balcony paid 3113$ CAD or 2395$ USD per adult, double occupancy in march 2017

Upgraded to Aft penthouse H6 deck 13 (narrow depth balcony, one of the smalliest) for 3225$ CAD or 2480$ USD pp.

It's the same price per day as what we payed on the Gateway in april 2016 for an H5, and this time, we have a separate room + a bigger balcony.

Total cost : 528$ CAD or 406$ USD per day per person with Beverage package et dining package.

Share your upgrade if you have the guts ! *wink*

    Sue

So you paid $4960 in addition to the $4790 already paid? $9,650 total for two? Not bad, only a little less than the original price back in October. I will share mine if I get it, but already paid about $13,000 for three of us in a forward penthouse connecting room. The two rooms I had a chance to upgrade to are the two bedroom family villa and owners suite. I am not feeling very confident.

  7. Diane, my wife and my 23-year-old son will be on the Breakaway with you I think (August 21-28) staying in the haven. My son is pretty quiet and respectful, but he and his brothers grew up as military dependents and learned respect along the way. Maybe we will run into your family during the trip and compare notes.

  8. i like 'what' you reviewed and how you did it. little things like the embark info mean a lot to newbies to the terminal.

i'm also considering self debark. however i do not see myself waiting in line over 1 hour to get off like you saw those others. id prefer to sit on a comfy couch somewhere and wait that hour.

you stated you did breakfast in the dining room. would it be fair to say every day was less crowded than the buffet there? id definitely prefer a more relaxed bfast experience than fighting buffet lines. also i dont really want to fill up at a buffet as there's free food all day everywhere

Yeah, we are sailing on Aug 21-28. I figure I will sit on the ship until they make us leave- by then it will be less crowded. We are going to and from New York by train from Washington DC so no hurry to get off.
