  1. Prior to boarding I type out a list including our cabin number, showing what days and hours I want reserved for dinner. When you board go right to the Coastal Kitchen and give your list to the restaurant host.

You can order almost anything, we order burgers ,what ever and they get it for us. If they cannot they will tell you. You also do not have to book your shows, just show the boarding card and they have VIP seating. You can book the Coastal Kitchen ahead of time on line only on the Harmony and any new ship.

To leave the ship tell the concierge what time you want off, they have set times, make sure you get the right tags for your bags.

  2. Continental breakfast is still no charge. I would guess this has been in place more than a year. Others can correct me if wrong.

Speaking of breakfast . . . has anyone who has stayed in the Owner’s Suite on RCI been offered the breakfast menu exclusive to suite guests???

  3. The Coastal Kitchen has its menus on line. You also get to sit in the VIP area for all the shows and you do not need to make reservations. I still make the on-line reservations, but change anytime we feel like it. You need reservations for the Coastal Kitchen as well. You do not need reservations for breakfast or lunch. When we travel in an Owners suite we never see the main dinning room or the Windjammer!

  4. The Coastal Kitchen staff get no tips! I even tried to move my tips in the MDR to CC, It was explained to me the CC staff get paid more but get no tips. I got this information from the cruise line and staff on board the ship. If you give the maitre gets all the money they will pool it. You can do what feels right to each of you. I keep in touch with one of the Harmony waiters via e-mail and he told me about the higher pay and no tips except those customers give them. I basically take my MDR tips and give it to the CC waiters.

  5. On our Oasis cruise we tipped at the end of the week, but on the Harmony we changed to daily so who ever was our server would get the tip. We found that to be a better system. It also created a desire of all the waiters to want to serve us. When we got to the check in desk the waiters would come to the desk and fight for us. Never had to wait. Tipping up front always brings better service.

  6. You have a choice to make driving! When you reach Fort Pierce it will be Turnpike or I 95. I 95 from Palm Beach to Miami closes about 3 times a week due to crashes and has heavy traffic. The turnpike has about 1 crash a week and is not as heavy on traffic, except rush hour. The turnpike turns into I 95 at the Dade County border, however you can use the Sunpass lane. I take the ride south many times, as I live in Florida! My suggestion is to use the turnpike to Miami Dade. Then put on your NASCAR outfit, including helmet, mount a machine gun on your hood and take the SunPass lane! It is the quickest and safest! Safe some ammunition for the return trip.
