  1. Hi Everyone:

Next summer we are doing a B2B Alaska cruises with RCCL on the Radiance. Turn around day will be in Seward. We arrive at 5 am and leave that evening at 8 pm. This is our first B2B, so I'm not sure what to expect on that day in Seward. We are in the same cabin for both sailings, so we don't have any issue there. We would like to do some sort of excursion that day, but there are none schedule through RCCL, so I found one online. It leaves at 1130 and returns at 530 pm going to Kenai Fjords National Park Glacier and Wildlife Cruise. Is this doable? Again, I'm not sure the check out/in process for repeaters. I'm also not sure what time we have to be back onboard for muster drill. What has been your experience? Will this work or do I need to find something else to do that day?

    Thank you in advance.

  2. Unfortunately we didn't take any menu pictures when we were on the ship two weeks ago. We recall the prices being between $7 and $25 (the higher price point being the meal for two) for ala carte pricing.

I was looking forward to eating here, but was very disappointed. Before you sit down, ask if they are out of anything. Our sailing on the first sea day had no crab legs and no peel and eat shrimp. What??!!! Seriously! I ordered the seafood chowder. I thought it was very fishy and watery. Yes, it's a seafood chowder so it should be fishy but I couldn't finish it (and I eat fish!) My husband had the crab cake burger (I think they call it the surf and turf) and he LOVED it. I wish I had ordered what he had, he enjoyed it that much.

  3. Thank you for this info. Will be taking this itinerary in Sept. Never been there so will it be an easy to understand walk into Venice?

    Feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Thanks for any tips you can offer.

Once you do it, it will make sense to you. It's easy, but can be overwhelming the first time.

Ships dock in different places. However, from reading Jane's review, when you dock, you will walk a little ways (follow the crowds) to a people mover. The people mover costs a few Euros one way. When you get off of the people mover, you can then walk everywhere. But if you want to get to SMS directly, you will want to take either the vaparetto or the Alilaguna. You exit the area of the people mover and walk toward the water. You then take the vaparetto (basically a bus on water) to whichever stop you want. If you research where you want to go and how many times you may take the vaparetto, it may be more reasonably priced to buy a 24-hour pass. Make sure to validate your pass each time you get on the vaparetto. It's a very expensive ticket should you fail to do so and get caught. I've never had an issue, so just a reminder. I've also bought the day pass just for the convenience of not having to worry about buying a ticket later. If you get stuck somewhere and there is no ticket booth, you can either find a tobacconist or a self service machine. You can also tell the conductor as you board that you need a ticket. If you go to the website, europe for visitors dot com, they have good information on using the water buses.

  4. Can anyone tell me bc I'm new to this...can we rent a hotel in Venice if it's over night? Or do we have to be back on the ship at a certain time? Going back and forth would be tedious. I'm going end of October of next year and prices of Venice hotels are pretty good. Thanks for any answers.

I know a few people already weighed in on your question. thought I'd throw in my two cents. The one hotel is not located on the main island of Venice. If you are taking the vaparetto to SMS, it may take you a lot longer than if you had stayed on the ship. If it were me, I'd save the points and stay on these ship. It won't take you very long to walk to the people mover and then either walk from there or grab the vaparetto and head out for your day. I believe there is also an Aligilaguna stop close to where the ship docks. They are a bit more expensive for a day pass and have fewer stops but, if I recall correctly, have a bit less of a hike than getting to the people mover and then the vaparetto.

  5. Good luck with that! The ship is showing "sold out". If I were you, I would call 800-526-9723 (the C&A number) and politely ask if they have your cabin assignment in their computers, even though it isn't showing up in your My Cruises.

    :)

Took your suggestion and called. And…….still no cabin assignment. She promised me I'm not sleeping in the Solarium or in a life boat, it just hasn't yet been assigned. As a side note, it's been showing sold out for probably a month or maybe a smidge longer, which is why i don't understand how cabin assignments haven't all been given yet. We also only got our cruise documents about two weeks ago which was about two weeks after everyone else on our roll call. They initially told me once the cabin was assigned we'd get docs. So when the docs showed up i was surprised we still had no cabin.

  6. Hi Donna,

When we booked final payment was due immediately so that feels like it's been done forever, although in reality only a couple of months. We sail in less 10 days and still no cabin assignment. Someone else on our roll call is in the same situation so I feel a bit better that we are not the only one without a cabin. Hopefully this only means good things.

  7. Booked at the end of July for an Oct sailing. First guarantee ever. Still haven't been assigned a cabin and we are less then two weeks out. I know that we might not have a cabin assignment until we board the ship but they are driving me crazy with anticipation. Just want to know which one is ours for the week. The ship has been sold out for weeks. Others on our roll call had assignments quite some time ago. My fiancé is concerned that we might not actually have a cabin. I teasingly told him we'd be sleeping on deck chairs in the solarium and showering in the spa. :p

Why do some cabins get assigned quickly and others not so much?

  8. When you cruise in Europe, do you always change your money to their currency, (Euro's)? My DH believes they will take dollars and I am unsure. For those who use a credit union, do they offer exchange to different currency?

As of last night $1 equaled 1.15 Euro.

My credit union does not handle foreign currency. I had my father who uses a big bank order it for me. I don't like to arrive with no money In case I have credit card or ATM issues. Use a money belt due to pick pockets. Only carry what you need that day or for that outing. Notify your bank ahead of time that you will be using your credit card and ATM card. As others said, Google currency for each country to see what they use. A euro is a euro regardless of which country is pictured on the particular bill. If you get euros ahead of time try to get smaller bills. Using $50s and $100s or larger aren't great for small purchases if you need change. Very few places will take the US dollar in the places I traveled.

If You go to places other than euro zone use a currency converter app or make a note of the exchange rate so you can figure out how much things actually cost.
