Any word on the couple who were downloaded, with police escort, in Kodiak? Heard they were the ones who had the fight in the Observation Lounge.
Man that threw punch dispatched in Kodiak, along with wife. That's SOP, the offender goes along with anyone else in same cabin. A costly place to get tossed.

I never understand these threads. Viking competes with Azamara and Oceania, why compare it with Seabourn, Silversea, Regent or Crystal? It’s a different product. If you’re happy with 4 stars, consider it. If you want a real luxury product, avoid it.
Because Viking is sucking employees and customers from Seabourn. Also, as each month passes, SB is much closer to 4 stars. You cannot maintain a product with such rapid expansion within a company within a rapidly expanding industry. New products coming online to compete with the market SB helped create and trying its best to distance itself from.

Is it $500 per person or per suite?
per suite
-
The offer of $500 OBC which can only go back into Seabourn’s coffers is almost an insult.
$500.....the unused portion returned in form of credit to your card on file at end of cruise.

David, when did the seabourn experience you describe happen?
-
One big difference. Gentlemen wearing jackets after 6PM will be the norm this year.
-
WOW! Quite the upgrade.

We were on the Wind 12 days after the inspection and had no idea that they had received such a low score. I thought the CDC report was a little harsh. Anyone who read my voyage report will realise that there were other, far more significant events impacting guests that took place on the voyage.
Sent from my iPad using Forums
Please tell us what could be far more significant than bad water. We were on Wind at same time. Rule number one for me is to never let ship's water near my mouth. Any ship, but anything Silversea in particular. I would never trust this company regarding sanitation issues.
-
Both advertise to be ultra luxury. Neither are either.
I see huge differences between the two. For starters, good employees seldom go from Seabourn to Silversea.

Post 1) Simple question
Post 2) Correct answer
Now, sit back and see if this thread dies a natural death.

Thank you Silver Spectre for your diligence - the number of 350+ Day Venetians is indeed very impressive - In any Scenario they must be regarded as true ' Repeaters ..
The majority being repeaters until they could no longer repeat.
Thanks Silver for the great posts/pics. We were on during your first segment doing some repairs.

I think and hope we will hear a success story about the value of dealing with a good TA.
-
So sorry I am bothering you sharing data points that I have that I think may help people, If that information is wrong I apologize for relaying it from the sources that should know. I guess this a case that you know more than Seabourn res agents and Amex Travel Cruise sales reps.
I enjoy reading your posts. Hardly a cause for a hissy fit on this item. Am speaking of my own experience, TA charges on SPG AMEX and plat benefits received.....but this was on a recent Silversea booking when I wanted the bottle of Dom tossed in. Used to do this quite often before CSR arrived. From my dealings with Seabourn agents, yes I do know more.
Of course, we can have different experiences with faceless companies.

But then again, I don't have 100 days yet, so my thoughts / observations / feelings / suggestions are clearly inferior and irrelevant.
.....and I'd say SS is depending on you for their future success.
-
Both the deposit and final payment must be on the Plat/Centurion card. Those two cards are the only Amex cards that participate in the Cruise Privleges Program and offer the OBC. If any part of the deposit or final is put on another Amex card you will not receive the OBC.
You have stated this twice. As long as you are holding a plat/cent card, you can use any other AMEX card to charge the cruise and receive same benefits as though you used either of the mentioned cards. Unless something has recently changed, Dave has it correct. marazul, too. In so many ways, CSR is the way to go nowadays.
-
Interesting....three cards, zero Carnival offers. One card had MSC and Regent. Still, thanks for posting.

Its all very sad and will I regret to say result in the dismal demise of a once great Ship - what Silversea was originally about, true luxury for a small number of Guests.
It's 2018.....what were you thinking in 2010? Ahhh, the mantra of SS veterans "we had a good time anyway."
Recently on Wind, spotted at least two European maintenance engineers resolving problems that years of Filipino crew applying duct tape could no longer hide. It never had to be this way.
-
Dave.....great post. Thanks!
-
I believe it has more to do with purchasing bandwidth. Eight months ago, speed was good enough (for me). Since November it has been bad and getting worse. It's not like the crew that has to file constant reports to Seattle does not notice the difference.

Why grill expensive cuts if you can distract the punters with potentially cheaper food?
Love your sense of humor. With the exception of TK, we are eating from the same bucket of food as HAL passengers. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Take a simple thing like ice cream. Remember when it was made aboard ship and had a positive flavor? A few low usage items are still made aboard, so they proudly say nothing has changed. Reality is any popular flavor is supplied by San Bernadino. The cheapest of cheap ice cream that is the supplier to all cheap cruise lines (and Silversea). Same idea with the meat suppliers. When it comes to food, I trust Crystal above the others. Oh, I know....most folks top ice cream with sauce, so who cares about the underlying product. Like ordering top shelf booze and adding water or soda.
The Seabourn you know has left the building. I went through this with Silversea beginning in 2006 and watched it go deeper into the sewer each proceeding year until it reached bottom a few years ago. The number of loyal passengers on these lines is amazing.....and laughable.

Enjoy your sevruga in QG. Looking forward to reading your comments after this trip. For whatever reason, I find the best value in PG. My fault for failing read the fine print that mentioned separate shower/bath only in the upper tier of QG cabins and the part where I had to fork over $$ to maître d' to secure a decent table. Happy to have had the experience, but once was enough.

You are correct........an odd remark based upon peculiar and biased assumptions.

Without looking, pretty sure your analysis is close to accurate. Personally think Scenic will be taking market share before RC is ready. YTD 25% of Scenic bookings come from USA. Signed up this week for 4th quarter. Frustrated that companies we're accustomed to have abandoned the market they created. Oh well, the bright side is SB will probably remain the affordable option.
-
It's not an apples to apples comparison and based on price alone, Seabourn had better be delivering the superior product. Viking does not tout itself as "luxury" where as Seabourn does.
True and true. Worse, SB and SS add "ultra" in front of luxury. Days that have long passed.
Viking ocean cruises vs Seabourn?

That's great news. Did I report something, anything regarding your experience with SB?
