  1. I see so many posts about people traveling from Miami to POrt Canaveral for a cruise. I honestly do not understand why?! There is port of Miami and Port Everglades ...why would someone spend so much money to get from Miami to Port Canaveral? Is it just because they prefer Fantasy or Dream (is Disney Magic not as good?).

    Thank you.

  2. I do not know any trans. company that would do that in Miami, but in Orlando we use a company that provides luggage storage.

They will pick you up from the port or any other location and take you to any destination (attraction or mall). They will store your luggage in the office for as long as you need. When the driver return to pick you up and take you to the airport the luggage will be already in the vehicle. Very convenient. And the storage itself is only $35 - $45 for the whole day.

See if you can find a similar service in Miami.

  3. Everyone is different but renting a car makes sense to me. A rental gives you flexibility and options. You are not limited to someone's schedule or spending a day only within walking distance to a hotel. I usually have the address before I leave home. I then use the GPS on my smartphone and Insurance is covered through my personal insurance and credit card. I plan on dropping my luggage off at the pier before dropping off the car. This way I'm not dealing with bags.

If you are not comfortable driving in new areas or waiting on others (for the shuttle to fill) renting a car may not be a good option.

I did opt for the cruise line shuttle to get me back to the airport because it was only a few dollars more than a shared shuttle.

No, you did not understand me. If someone is staying at one of the hotels in Cape Canaveral or Cocoa Beach...renting a car makes sense. But there are people who arrive the day of their departure and rent a car just to get from the airport to the port.

  4. This will be our fist Disney cruise. Our oldest daughter is extremely excited. Most probably we are traveling with another family (they have two kids: 5 and 7 y/o). The transportation company we use offers special meet & greet at the airport.

What do you think would be appropriate? They told me balloons and Mickey / Minnie ears are the most popular items.

My wife was thinking to order three gift bags (would be placed in the vehicle prior to our arrival...that would be very exciting / would keep them occupied for 45 min).

    Any other ideas?

  5. I am very curious why do people rent a car just to get from the airport to the port????

You arrive to Orlando airport...then you have to rent a vehicle, get directions/find the location on GPS, drive yourself, fill up the tank before you drop off, drop off the vehicle and then wait for a shuttle to the port...

Isn't it too much "work" for just a 45 min trip?

    Am i missing something?

I know that many people do that, but why?

If the price is not an issue - book a private car. If you are looking for a lowest rate - book a shared shuttle.

I might be wrong, but i just don't get it.

  6. Thank you.

Last time (staying at the resort) we had a huge suitcase with just kids clothes. We used only 1/3 of it.

But i guess i'll let the mommy do her thing. The worst thing would be to hear "i knew it! ...i told you!" when we get there : )

  7. Hello, cruise fans :)

I would like to know your opinion on shared cruise transportation.

My family of four (kids 1.5 and 3.5 y/o) is sailing in two weeks with Disney. I can't decide between a shared cruise shuttle and a private transfer. What would you choose if the price is not important? I think maybe the cruise shuttle would be fun for kids (first time on the bus, excitement, meeting new friends). Or am i wrong and it will be mostly ...waiting in long lines, crowds and screaming/tired kids??? I have never used a shared shuttle before. Any advice?

  8. Hello, everyone. We are planning our first family cruise with Disney.

My question is...what to pack for kids (we have two girls: 1.5 and 3.5 years old)? We are leaving in two weeks (from Port Canaveral).

My wife packed so much for them. ..."ohh...we need this in case it rains...and this in case its cold...and this in case its hot..and this too..."

I would like to get an advice from someone who traveled with kids before (October/November). I hope to get rip of one small suitcase :)
