  1. When I was on Divina (which is a smaller ship) they came in nose first and spun around 180 degrees to put the starboard side of the ship against the dock.   It may be that Seashore, being bigger, cannot rotate, and has to back in.

  2. No one is gloating over you being wrong.   I am simply saying that the cruise I just booked has a 30 day window to complete your on line check in.   Newer people may be looking up this thread and we owe it to them to provide the latest up to date info.  These threads are here to help people, not to pick on anyone.   Try to keep the info 100% accurate.  Its for everyone's benefit.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen a recent thread on the reopening. Can anyone on board in the next week or two confirm that Ocean Cay is actually open again?

also on an unrelated topic, does anyone know which side I have to be on to view the lighthouse from a balcony cabin on board?

You want to be on the STARBOARD side of the ship.  They aim the bow towards the lighthouse when they dock.

Thanks, I heard that only 1 person needs to go and can bring both cards.  Did you see or hear of anyone doing that?

It would seem to me that both people would have to go.   The purpose is to make sure you know where your station is.   If you don't attend, what do you learn?

To the best of my knowledge, there has been no "banning of filming" by MSC.  There have been two occasions, on two different MSC ships where one pair of vloggers were told to cease and desist video recording for some yet to be documented reason.  There are plenty of MSC review videos on You Tube, including several by the hotel director on the Seaview.

As I understand it, the two vloggers were asked to stop filming because a guest in the Yacht Club didn't want to risk being filmed on the cruise.   It immediately made me think someone was cheating on their spouse and didn't want any evidence being recorded!  Who knows?  There are plenty of videos on YouTube recently so I do not believe MSC had banned filming.

One of my pet peeves, and this is not directly related to my question, is when the semi-professional vloggers create clickbait misleading titles just to get views.  Some "shocking" headline, perhaps with a photo of the vlogger's face with an astonished expression, and then you get into the video and it's nothing shocking at all.

Again, doesn't specifically relate to my question, as I find some of the videos quite helpful.  I've done brief reviews of cabins on MSC, Celebrity, NCL, Pullmantur, Carnival, and others and I've been told those were useful.  But when they try to mislead me, I find that to be annoying.

When someone does that on a video I immediately give them a thumbs down and block them.

  7. If the grandfather was not the grandfather, but instead, a child care worker, or a nanny, he would be getting the **** sued out of him for negligence.  We all feel bad for the family but it was an accident caused by STUPIDITY! Call it for what it is.  Its not the cruise line's fault.  People have to have some semblance of intelligence and responsibility.  The lawyer should sue the grandfather, not the cruise line.  They are just looking for money.  Sorry state of affairs.

  8. Parking at the pier is super convenient but its also pricey! It costs $20 a day. I used Global Airport parking and it was a mile away and it cost $6. They shuttle you back and forth with their vans. I travel by myself and I found it was a good way to save money. They had at least four vans and it wasn't a big deal. With Global you need to show up early to get the covered spots otherwise its hit or miss.

  9. I've been reading a lot of complaints about the Port of Tampa and the ships being delayed. Understand this-years ago a ship hit the Skyway Bridge and knocked it down. Since then safety has been the #1 concern for all ships passing under the bridge. As the weather turns cooler, the water temperature in Tampa Bay and the Gulf are still high. This creates fog and as long as its foggy the ships are not allowed under the bridge. If you are planning flights when you get off the ship you need to allow a lot of time to get to the airport. Booking a flight anywhere before 2 pm is crazy at this time of year. You have to allow time for the fog to burn off before the ship even gets past the bridge. On the other side of the coin, if you are going onboard, realize that you are probably going to have a significant chance of a delay. they cannot put you on board until every gets off! I am reading a lot of complaints from people who obviously didn't know this. If you get to the port early and get delayed, hand over your luggage and hop a taxi to International Mall or Westshore Mall (about 4 miles away) and kill some time, or go go east to Westfield Mall in Brandon (10 miles away but a direct route) and you can even hit a movie. Just be patient! Good Luck, Ken
