  1. Placencia is not an island. It is the mainland.

I am aware of that fact. My question was about the ferry ride from the island of Harvest Cay to the mainland town. Thank you.

  2. How was the boat ride? Rough water or smooth? Did anyone get sick? ( I had a bad experience on the jet boat ferry from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen) Thanks very much!

  3. Has anyone taken the boat from Harvest Caye to the mainland for an excursion? Was the water rough? Was it a jet taxi? I had an unpleasant experience on the jet taxi from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen that I don' t wish to repeat, but I would like to book the Mayan ruin excursion that NCL offers. Thanks!

  4. Do we bring towels from the ship or are they supplied with? Is there water in the cabana or that is a purchase for as well...Thanks!

When we went last November the cabana was supplied with water and towels. There was no charge for these items.

  5. We gave the concierge/attendant $20. We gave the golf cart driver $5 each way for a total of $10. The only thing the concierge did for us was show us around the cabana and take a few photos for us. We didn't order food or drinks. There were 3 of us. Have fun & enjoy your cabana!

  6. The air conditioning worked fine...but my husband and I wanted to use the fan & open all the doors to catch the tropical breezes. But, no worries , a/ c was great! Check in details: we walked onto the island. There was a building on the right. We went to the window marked "cabanas". We were given wristbands. We (3 of us) were driven to our cabana in a golf cart. As to your visitors.. I had no visitors so I don't know if they are allowed.

  7. Just back from our Dawn cruise! We had a cabana on Harvest Caye and enjoyed it very much. We were supplied with beach towels in the cabana, a cheese plate, fruit plate and 6 bottles of cold water . The check in went smoothly and we were brought to our cabana in a golf cart. We didn't order food or beverages, but if we had wanted to, there was a butler and concierge and a menu in the cabana. The fan didn't work in the cabana... That was the only bump in the road ... But a minor annoyance. We were told to expect some things that were still being worked on. All in all it was a great beach day and we were happy with our cabana!

  8. Do tell! I'm sailing out the Mississippi for the first time on the Dawn 11/27. What are the sights - and how far out from sailaway? I'm clueless as to the timeline - it looks like a short jaunt out.

As you sail down the Mississippi toward the Gulf, you will have a beautiful view of the French Quarter & Jackson Square. After you pass the French Quarter you will see an area of the city called Faubourg Marigny. Soon you will pass the Battle of New Orleans site with an old plantation home on the river. It takes several hours to reach the Gulf... I have never been able to stay awake long enough to witness it. On the way back up the river, I love to wake up early enough to see the sail in... It's beautiful to see the city in the early morning! Enjoy your cruise!

  9. When we first cruised almost everything was included in the cruise fare...the only exceptions were alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. The service was exceptional and , as mentioned previously, we were treated royally. ... As a small example, dinner consisted of 5 courses...now three.

I also remember fondly the beautiful buffets... And the high teas with string quartets playing.

  10. We are on the 11/20 Dawn sailing and I was able to book our Beach Cabana yesterday as well. I was not able to make it work on line... Had to call Shorex. I was also told I could use our $50 shore excursion credit. Was anyone told anything about a food credit on the island or champagne or water included?

  11. The ferry ride was so horrible that I would never do it again. I have been on 40+ cruises all over the world and this was the worst. They handed out sickness bags as we got on and they were well used by almost everyone aboard!
