  1. For those of you who have used the mini bus service, do you know how late it runs until? We're thinking of going after we do a dive excursion, so we wouldn't get there until maybe 3 - 3:30pm so not sure if it pretty much shuts down around 5, where we wouldn't be able to get mini bus or even a taxi. Thanks!

    Curious about this also.

  2. How reliable is the room service breakfast? We enjoy a small breakfast before setting out, but want to get off the boat early and not take the time to go to a resturaunt or buffet. I know NCL can be a bit slow. Does breakfast room service work like a hotel where you specify a time? Is it reliable? Do you order in the morning or the night prior?

  3. My wife and I are going to Bermuda on NCL Escape in June. We are not overly active hike 10 miles a day kind of people, and not sit all day at the beach either.

Day 1: Jolly Roger fishing charter (9am-1pm), eat somewhere, taxi/bus to Crystal Caves (do both tours), taxi/bus to Hamilton, Hamilton Sunset Cruise (7:15pm-8:45pm), spend a while at Harbor Nights, ferry back to cruise ship.

Day 2: Ferry to St George, snorkel at Tobacco Bay, eat somewhere, taxi/bus to Horseshoe Bay and Jobson cove, rest of day??

    Day 3: Hidden Gems tour.

Anything it seems like we are skipping? More ideas for day 2?

We would like to also do the aquarium if there is time. Would be very interested in a snorkel boat tour, but looking for a boat with a ladder easier to use than a typical folding ladder off the side of a small boat. Have not yet found a tour that has anything better, or at least says so.

    Thanks!

  4. Our email seems to be a time change...........

    Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for choosing Norwegian Cruise Line and Norwegian Escape for your upcoming cruise vacation.

Our records indicate that you have made reservations for FOR THE RECORD on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 7:30 pm.

We have made scheduling changes and would like to inform you that this show time is no longer available.

Please go to www.ncl.com to book an alternative show time. Or you may visit the Box Office once on board.

We're very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

    Sincerely,

    Norwegian Cruise Line

I received the same email for the same time and date. I called NCL and they said it actually wasn't cancelled. It still shows in myNCL. I made an additional reservation for the next day just in case.

  5. How far off the beach typically is good snorkeling? 10ft, 100ft, 1000ft, more?

My wife and I enjoy snorkeling, but are not interested in swimming long distances to reach the snorkeling sites. We have done snorkeling from boat tours and have no problem swimming around once at the snorkeling site. If far from shore we will probably opt for a boat tour instead of just doing beaches.

    Thanks.

  6. Snorkeling is up to you. Keep in mind you will have that included from a beach on the Hidden Gems tour (in Cooper's Island Nature Reserve). You will see plenty of fish if you stay near the rocks and coral as opposed to just sand.

My bro and SIL did the Restless Native Catamaran and snorkel and had an awesome time. Their pics made me wish we had even more time to have done this too.

Thanks. We were debating the Restless Native, since it looked fun and easy to get in and out of the boat, or one that visits a shipwreck site.

  7. Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Interested in Frog and Onion as it has the Dockyard brewery, and we always try to go to a local brewery wherever we travel.

We did book Hidden Gems for the third day, so that is locked in.

Now rethinking snorkeling a bit. Not sure if we should try to do that from beaches, or take a boat tour to snorkel.

  8. Hi all. My wife and I are visiting Bermuda for the first time on the NCL Escape in June, arriving on a Wednesday morning, departing Friday 3pm. Would like some experienced input on this plan. Too much in one day? Missing anything critical?

    Day 1:

    Ferry over to St George

    Explore city

    Snorkel at Tobbaco Bay

    Bus/taxi to Aquarium

Bus/taxi to Crystal Caves and Fantasy Caves

    Bus/taxi to Hamilton

    Explore city

    Harbor Nights, or sunset cruise

    Ferry back to cruise ship

    Day 2:

    Jolly Roger fishing charter

    Lunch at Frog and Onion

    Bus/taxi to Horseshoe Beach

    Snorkel

    Bus/taxi back to cruise ship

    Day 3:

Hidden Gem tour (booked via cruise ship)

  9. My wife and I will be visiting Bermuda soon and are planning full days including snorkeling and other activities, where we expect to bring a change of clothes, cash, camera, etc. All things we do not want walking away while we are snorkeling. Reading other posts here the consensus seems to be lockers are not available on the beaches in Bermuda, or at least few and far between. What do other people do to keep their valuables safe while snorkeling? We would really like to snorkel together, and not have to leave behind the digital camera. Cash and keycards I can keep on me while snorkeling. Anyone have experience locking their backpack to a tree, etc? Or maybe lockers are a newer thing, the posts I read were a few years old?

  10. The way an NCL rep explained to me, for Cagney's and La Cucina (and Le Bistro), you can pay a la carte, OR pay with 1 meal from your specialty dining meal plan. If you use one of your meals you can order anything but limited to one entree per person. If you want more than one entree then you pay the a la carte price.

  11. Is there any reason you can't book the cruise a week or two later so that this would not be an issue? Just curious......

Yes, needs to be booked as soon as possible. However, even waiting two weeks wouldn't guarantee anything, just reduce from a small chance of the school year extending to a slightly smaller chance.

  12. I believe that for this type of cancellation, the only insurance will be "cancel for any reason". Generally, with this coverage, you will get a credit good towards a cruise in the next year.

When would you know that the schedule has been extended? Usually final payment is due 60 to 75 days before you sail. After that the penalty amount increases until it is about 100% the last two weeks before sailing

Thanks. I did look a little more, a lot of policies have a "cancel for work reasons" coverage, but I'm not 100% they will cover a teacher who has to make up snow days.

We are planning to book the cruise tomorrow and the full payment has to be made at that time.

It looks like a lot of these insurance policies do not have to be made right away, so possible we could wait a few weeks to purchase insurance? Would have a good idea if we need the insurance then.

  13. My wife, a school teacher, and I are booking a cruise for June, very close to her last day of school. It should work fine, but in the off chance there are extra days added in to her school year for snow, power outages, etc. I would like to be covered for the cost of the cruise. This possible work related issue is really all I am interested in insuraning against. Medical coverage while out of country (Bermuda) would be nice also, but not my primary concern. Does anyone have recommendations for plans/companies?

  14. We are booked in15870 for THIS Tha ksgiving..

two concerns- I've been reading about the overhang but can't envision. Was it a problem?

Was noise from cafe right above or H20 an issue? We usually love aft or angled balconies but after looking at deck plan got nervous

How was it? Looking to book this same room. Thanks.

  15. For the Manhattan Cruiseport folks have been using the park, sleep, cruise packages at the Hampton Inn and Hilton Gardens in Ridgefield Park NJ which provide a room, parking and round trip port transportation.

Thanks, that looks like a great option. Cost of the room is basically the same as parking near the port.

I will see if any IHG hotels in the area offer similar.

Do you think a hotel here would also be good for post-cruise touring of NYC, or better to go for a hotel in Manhattan?

  16. My wife and I will be driving to NYC from Indiana to cruise on the NCL Escape in June. This leaves from the Manhattan terminal. I would prefer not to drive through NYC, and looking for recommendations for hotels outside of NYC that are easier to drive to, easy to take public transportation or uber/taxi to the cruise port, and I can leave the car parked at for 7-10 days.

Also, best yet if it is through IHG, as I have a lot of points.

    Thanks.

  17. Looking to book an Alaskan cruise for summer 2018 and looking for advise on cruise line. My wife and I have been on one cruise together (Caribbean on NCL Jade) and I have cruised alone prior (Bahamas on NCL Sky). Open to NCL again, as we liked the casual environment and dining options. Was not a fan of the long waits at the bars and restaurants (though that may be common on all cruises?) I did feel the second NCL cruise felt repetitive (same feel, restaurants, etc), so interested in trying another cruise line also. Can anyone make recommendations on which lines to look at, where we do not have to dress up to set specific times for dining, and overall fun feel (thought the less kids and crowds the better).

We are looking for a 7+ day cruise, preferably one way to maximize number of ports. Also considering the cruisetour options, though they seem quite expensive. Might do a few days on our own in Settle or Vancouver and in Alaksa on either end of the trip. I have miles on British Airways, and want to make all the flights with miles, and I think it gives me good options for flights.

Trying to keep it cost down, hopefully under $2500 total (2 people, fees, taxes, tips, etc), to save money for excursions. As much as we would like a balcony room, understand that likely wont happen.

    Any recommendations are appreciated!

  18. As SuiteTraveler said, unless you are in a suite, your mini-bar items are NOT included. There is a charge for anything consumed. You can ask your cabin steward to empty the mini-bar when you arrive on the ship. Then you can fill it with your soda.

    Thank you!
