Thank you everyone. I do love Berlin too and hope to go back one day. Berlin is such a diverse city. I found it to be so fascinating. Yes I would love to see the markets at night when they are lit up. The photos are amazing. I will be cruising with AMA in April and if I like it we may do a Christmas Market Cruise with them. I was thinking of doing Budapest and Prague independently too. So much to think about.

I am sure this question has been asked before. What line would you recommend for a Christmas Market Cruises? I would like to Cruise the Danube. Avalon seems to be a popular choice. I am sailing AMA in April who also offer some nice looking itineraries.

I have not sailed AMA but sailed Emerald. I booked a tulip cruise with AMA next year. From reading reviews of AMA and through reviewing their itinerary it looks like AMA has more choices for shore excursions which have no extra charge. With Emerald they mostly offered walking tours only on the Rhine/Main cruise. I was a bit disappointed with food on Emerald. AMA has a good reputation when it comes to food. I do not eat meat but I do eat fish. The fish on Emerald all seemed to be poached and not flavorful. We ate several lunches in port (very enjoyable) but may have eaten on the ship more if the food was better. Emerald closed the sun deck for the entire Main, not sure if AMA does that. I would ask them. I must say I really enjoyed the indoor pool on Emerald and the crew were wonderful.

I sailed on Emerald last year. At 46 I was probably one of the youngest passengers. Overall I enjoyed the experience. I guess the only thing that as a younger person I found the cruise to be a little too structured. I would rather spend time in port than eat lunch on the ship. What I loved was the pool on Emerald. I am going to cruise with AMA who have more tours in each port which includes cycling. I felt very comfortable with all the passengers on Emerald. They were all lovely, I made good friends.

Thanks everyone! It looks like we would be spending very little time at a port on this cruise so I'm not that worried about rafting. My husband loves being outdoors on a boat even if it is cold so we are going with the double balcony.

My husband and I are planning on booking the AMA Tulip Time cruise shortly. I am leaning towards a double balcony room. Do you think the double balcony is worth it when compared to the French balcony? My husband is 6 foot 6 which is a factor in our decision making. Your input is appreciated.

I traveled with Emerald last July. The atmosphere is very relaxed. There is no real dress code although some dress more causally than others. I was a bit younger than most of the other guests but I never felt out of place. Everyone was really nice.

Thank you everyone for the information. It is all helpful. I think I want to go on this cruise because by March I am so sick of winter. I just want to see flowers.

My husband and I are considering the Ama Tulip cruise. My husband has a couple of questions/concerns. The first question may be the easier of the 2. Do they close the sundeck on this cruise. This was a huge disappointment on the Main River cruise.

My second question is does anyone know exactly which bodies of water this cruise follows, the brochure is a bit vague.

Finally, do people use the pool in March and April? I know it's chilly that time of year.
