As a relatively new Bourbon drinker, I would appreciate some feedback on what the more seasoned Bourbon drinkers think about the following, all of which I have tried. Pappy Van Winkle is not a must try for me.

    Buffalo Trace

    Elijah Craig

    Four Roses

Knob Creek - 9 year and Smoked Maple

    Woodford Reserve

Ciroc and Belvedere are my favorite Vodkas.

Buffalo Trace - Agree that when you can find it, its a good bourbon.

Elijah Craig - Also good and easier to find with a good price point.  This is one of my go-to glass on the weekend bourbons.

Four Rose/Knob Creek - I have never been a fan.  I've tried both a few times and they just don't impress me.  My personal opinion but I know a few people that really love them.

Woodford Reserve - Another go-to brand for me.  Easy to find and a solid bourbon.

My personal favorite - Eagle Rare 10 year.  Hard to find but I always keep a couple of bottles.

  2. I took a solo cruise last year on the Escape and will be on my second on the Getaway in 20 something days. They are a blast. Like many people have said, go to the meet and greets, you can see if there are any people there that you want to hang out with. The people cruising solo are usually a blend of ages so you will likely find a group close to your age and personality. Have a great time.

  3. In just a few short weeks we will be escaping the winter in Ontario Canada, sailing on the Dawn out of NOLA:cool: This will be our second cruise and our first time in New Orleans and on the Dawn. We will be staying at the Drury Inn 2 nights pre cruise as well as 2 nights post cruise and in a mid-ship balcony room on the Dawn.

Here's what I'm asking of all of you who have either been to NOLA and/or have sailed on the Dawn, I want to know what you know:D

Tell me what you loved, didn't love, can't wait to do again, wouldn't spend another minute of your life doing, what you've been craving to eat again and any secrets/tips you've discovered.

You mention craving to eat.........Acme Oyster Company just off of Bourbon St. I don't eat much seafood and had the chicken/Sausage Jambalaya there and it was awesome. Other guests that like seafood though the seafood and oysters were great. I would make sure I stop there if I had a trip to NOLA.

  4. my husband and I will be cruising our first NCL cruise on 2/19/17-2/26/17 and wanting to ask about anybody's personal experiences at any of the ports we will be visiting, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Roatan? I have looked at the given links about each port but we were wanting to get some recommendations and opinions on the most fun and best snorkeling and beach excursions.looking for best ideas and bargains. Book though cruise ship or directly with excursion operators?

You should start a new thread instead of "hijacking" the thread from the OP. You'll get more information from the community who can answer your question specifically.

  5. I was on the Escape right after they switched to a paid restaurant. It was easy to get a table and the cost was that terrible. I got the Volcano nachos for $6.00 if I'm not mistaken. UBP worked here so the drinks were "free". I think they are open for breakfast also, not a 100% sure on that.

  6. looking for best location for a studio cabin with least amount of noise (either for overhead/under) or outside hallway (no crew/housekeeping closet, high traffic, etc.). thanks, Elaine

    Elaine,

I was on the Escape and they have a similar layout. I was in a room comparable to 11515. You couldn't hear much of anything above, below, or in the hallway. As mentioned, just make sure that you stay away from a connecting room and you should be fine.

The way the Studio area is set up, the only people coming in are guest staying in the Studio cabins. There is no real traffic other than your fellow Studio travelers.

  7. I was on the Escape earlier this year and found that the food quality was tiered.

The buffet was OK. Quick meal to not miss something I had plans to do. It will fill you up, but it wasn't anything to rave about. It had the benefit of fast and not changing out of my bathing suit.

MDR - Better. I went there 6 nights with a group of solo travelers. The group made the experience better but food wasn't out of this world good.

Teppenyaki/Cangney's - My experiences here were incredible. The meals (steaks) here would rival some high end restaurants. Some foodies may disagree, but I know I will have plans to visit both on my Getaway cruise in Feb 2017.

Also ate at Margaritaville one day for lunch. Big fan of the Volcano Nachos and they were as good onboard as in mainland stores. That and a couple of margaritas made for a great sea day meal.

    Great review by the way.

  8. I was on the Escape back in February and while I didn't notice any big motion movement, there was a shaking to it. Like a shimmy of some type. I didn't think about it later in the cruise, but I didn't notice it when I was sitting a table for meals. Probably won't contribute to motion sickness, just a curious observation.

  9. New to the forums, so hello everyone. I'm on the Escape at the end of February and I was hoping someone had the dailies. It's going to be my first vacation where I can turn off my cell phone and be away from my kids in a decade. Love them, just looking forward to alone time. Anyway, I would like to see what activities they have onboard, just to get a skeleton of a plan together. I appreciate the help. Safe travels folks.
