  1. It looks like the Sensation and the Fantasy are the ships with the most dates available,

Between the Sensation and the Fantasy, is there much difference?

The Vista and the Ecstasy are the only two Carnival ships I've been on; so if those older ships are similar to the Ecstasy, I'll know what to expect.

The sensation, fantasy and ecstasy are all fantasy class ships... They look almost the same inside and out

  2. I think I'm going to pick the Upper deck. Something next to all the suites. Maybe 71 or 72?

those rooms are turned sideways so the door is on one of the long walls and not the short wall they are set up different.. not bad, just different look on youtube for a video of the room that are turned like that

    found one!

  3. if you are going to pick another room on the empress deck, stay away from the atrium area.

I have stayed in E144 &148 and have not heard the galley at all.. but if you are close you WILL hear the people in the atrium, all hours of the day and night..

the bar can be loud, but the people who are in line at guest services are even louder

    E60-80 should be avoided imho

  4. My first cruise when I was in 7th grade was rough because my girlfriend (who was my twin sister's bff) forgot her birth control pills. When we got to Mexico we tried to buy some at the pharmacy and my Great-Grandma overheard. It was pretty awkward getting anti-sex talks from a 90 year old in public places for the next 5 days:(:(:(

I thought it was a parent asking about it for their child, I would certainly hope a parent isn't condoning alcohol use by a 20 year old. There is soooo much misinformation about alcohol out there. The legal drinking age from a public health perspective should be raised to 23 or 25 because it is well known alcohol use for those below those ages is terrible for brain function. Yet Carnival told my life partner that she couldn't drink while pregnant and the health negative effects are extremely negligible for mother and child.

    drinking at 23 = bad

    sex at 12 = ok

maybe grandma was right to scold you

  5. The theater is perfectly safe at night. I have no idea why you would think otherwise.

    http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2013/12/600-people-involved-in-movie-theater-brawl-5-arrested/

No, I meant that it is not always safe in the area surrounding the airport,

I frequent the mall where the movie theater is and have eaten in all of the restaurants that are there.. I always aware after it get dark to be extra vigilant.

I constantly get panhandlers asking for money

My house was robbed, and all the neighbors in the neghorhood where I moved from still report continual drive-bys of teens looking for optimistic theft. My neighorhood was 2.5 miles from the mall.

So ducklite, that is why I think otherwise

Just like any other place where there is crime. If you are smart and don't look like a target you will be fine. If you look like a tourist with loads of cash on you, someone may notice you and decide to rob you

  6. If you go to that theater. Go before dark.

My Father and I eat at the Ruby Tuesday right infront of the Hilton. We like it better than longhorn.

On the other side of I-95 ( the mall side). There is a BJ brewhouse. And a Carrabba's / outback. Right next to each other...

  7. We went to the excursion desk with a list in our heads of which cabana's in order we wanted.

With 11 then 12 being first. 13, 14 & 15 are so close together I don't think it really matters.

I read that the crew tends to gather right past 15 and can play loud music. We saw some of that. But they were a bit down the beach.

If you want to hear the music from bar, and be near the restrooms, I might try 7 or 8. But the lower the number, the closer to the dock, the more people between your cabana and the water.

We had prob 50 or so chairs in our vicinity.. Maybe 10 had people in them.

  8. here are a few more pics i took

sorry this is so backlit..but it shows you how close the next cabanas are

  9. We were on the Carnival Victory from Canaveral.

    Our first stop was HMC.

The Victory was scheduled to leave Canaveral at 6pm, due to ship ongoing ship improvements. I purchased FttF, so I could get on board early enough to pick a cabana far enough down the beach away from the crowds..

We were able to get #13 with#11&12 being our first choices

we were on the first tender and on the island by 8 am

They drove us to our cabana in an open air truck, then slowly they brought the supply's to the cabana

exactly what we expected from seeing other reviews:)

    yes Im very sunburnt:eek:

the only downside was that the shower did not work

someone broke the pvc pipe to the spray fan so they turned off the water. I tried turning it back on (small valve just past hose bib) but the water streamed on deck towards the electrical outlet..

so no shower.. one of the reasons i booked :( I wanted to be able to wash the salt water off me then change into shorts and not wear a

    saltwater-infused wet bathing suit

beautiful Island going back on our feb cruise

would get a cabana againt to have relief from the sun

someone who goes there, please tell me they fixed the pipe..at 2:30 pm they were looking for something to repair it, but they were on island time

  10.

If you are assigned the aft MDR for dinner, wait upstairs in the last lounge on the Promenade. The staircase is open and you'll see the crowds entering. The lobby for this MDR is puny and becomes sardine like

    Great advice

I live in Jax and have been on it twice

There is a small staircase in the back from the emperess deck to the serenity deck, that was originally for staff.. It is open for guests

It was my little shortcut to my fav place.

  11.

scottie, what was below you? I only considered those 3 as I had read they have cabins above and below - just starting my research.

Do these cabins go fast - do I need to book as soon as the schedule opens? I'll have to make a list of the standards and triples so I know which ones to look for.

Thanks everyone! Any more insight would be great.

The aft dinning room was below us and I never heard anything. What I liked the best was the stairs down to the outside deck on 3. Goes all the way around the ship. But on an Alaskan cruise the places to be able to see was our main concern. Deck 4 was close to the water line and watching the wake go by was great.
