Thanks to everyone that responded. Simcorner.com looks interesting.  I didn't know you could send/receive texts with Whatsapp when your phone is on airplane mode.

We are in Greece right now and have been doing it for about 14 days.  We were told to make sure we turned "wifi calling enabled on" on our phones before we left home, and then just leave phone in airplane mode through your entire trip.   We had wifi on the ship for 7 days, are on land now for 2 weeks and then back on a ship.  We have found everywhere we go, every little cafe etc... offers free wifi so seems to be working great.

Has anyone done this? I used my HSBC World Elite Mastercard for our upcoming T/A but the trip limit is 31 days and I just realized we are actually going to be away for 33 days. We are travelling in Europe for 2 weeks until the cruise which is only 16 days but the policy kicks in as soon as we leave Canada, even though that part of the trip is not prepaid. Sooo, we are 2 days short. I will call HSBC insurance department on Tuesday to see if I can add a couple of days, but wondered if anyone has come across this.

    TIA

I did it with the Royal Avion Card - just asked to top up 9 days from my 31.

  3. When we cruised the Mekong 2 years ago the Cruise Director was there from day one to getting you to the airport to head home  There is different tour guides from Viet Nam to Cambodia, if I recall correctly it was because of the language difference between countries.  They were all so knowledgeable and proud of their countries and cultures it was great to get to spend so much time with them.

  4. Funny, only sailed 6 months ago and neither one of us can remember the wine. I am going to say there was very limited selection poured at meals, but nice wines, not amazing. Comfortable shoes a must, the walking was not difficult, but lots of walking to enjoy everything on the river, and the shore locations were very lovely spots to be able to walk around the towns. Ensure you have a light sweater for the temples, always asked at the gates if what we had was sufficient, once got told we were fine, only to reach the temple and be told no, some areas would say a shawl was fine, and then we would get inside and they wanted a full sleeve, wish I had just always packed a light sweater to cover my shoulders. For some reason, a fellow traveller was carrying 3 sweaters at one stop and bailed 2 of us out! Overall an amazing experience, and hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
