Thanks for your review. We have not been on Carnival since 1993! We typically stay with RCCL but did try Princess in February. I was happy to read the ship is in good shape with good service. This is a surprise birthday trip for my husband so keeping it a secret is tough until we leave in May. You convinced me to add the drink package and tip as we go. My husband usually takes care of all of this, but with all of the planning/tipping on me this time, I need to be prepared. We have been to Mexico several times and probably won't get off.

Thanks for the advice. I decided it would be more relaxing to hire a driver. I was quoted a price of 160 euros for the day (7 hours). I haven't booked yet, but think this is the way to go.

Has anyone rented a car from Avis in Katakolo? Or should we just hire a taxi as we get off the ship? We have 2 private tours set up about an hour away at a farm and winery. My husband will be fine driving, but wonder how quick the pick up and drop off will be.

Any idea the cost of a taxi for the day?
