  1. Most of us, myself included, learned the "cruise lingo" right here at Cruise Critic so I think it would be a nice way of letting newbies learn the correct terms when asking questions about their upcoming cruise.

     

    I'll start. Please feel free to add to the list.

     

    A floor on a cruise ship is called a DECK.

    Rooms on ships are called cabins or staterooms.

     

    The bathroom is called, The Head.

  2. Since my time in the Navy does not count this will truly be my first time on a real cruise. My wife passed 2 years ago so I will be traveling solo.

    When she was alive we planned to go on an eastern Caribbean cruise but things happened, she became ill, and here we are. That's enough about me, so here's some questions.

    Which cruise line is the best for solo travelers?

    How much extra will I have to pay for a double occupancy cabin?

    When is the best time to cruise when you're on a budget?

    I know you have pay a deposit when you book a cruise but when do you have to pay the rest?

    My target date to sail is the weekend after labor day. Can someone help a brother out?
