There are beautiful beaches in Barcelona. Just look on a map. Buses go right to the beach. Rome is not on the water. No beaches there. Cannes has nice beaches, but I wouldn't spend time on a beach in these beautiful historic cities! A beach is a beach. If you haven;t been to these cities before, I would suggest doing at least a walking tour that will give you the highlights of the city ( For Livorno I mean Florence or Pisa). BTW, Pisa is much more than the Leaning Tower.

I want to swim in the Med at least once but there is so much to do I don't know if I will :)

  2. Hi

We are cruising in a few days and I was wondering if anyone could answer my last minute questions.

    1. What time is the earliest they will start letting people on the ship in Barcelona?

    2. Would you recommend any good beaches for swimming at any of the following ports: Naples, Rome (Civitavecchia), Livorno, Cannes, Barcelona?

    3. Is anyone else booked on the 3rd Sept cruise that has booked a (non-NCL) group tour for Rome and/or Livorno? Is there room for more people (3)?

    Thank you

    Fiona

  3. Hi

Has anyone been on the Western Med cruise recently that can tell me what time we will be able to get off the ship in Rome (Civitavecchia)? I am trying to arrange tours and transport from the port to Rome center but cannot until I know what time we can actually be off the ship by.

Any tips on the quickest way to get into Rome would also be greatly appreciated.

Note, we are not ending our cruise there like some others will be, so no bags/security etc. Its just a port of call for us.

    TIA

    Fiona

I agree, this is a wonderful review ( we loved our MSC cruise too) As for the "what to wear thing" they do give you a warm cloak... not a coat but it's hooded and you can snuggle into it, however the one thing I recommend is to wear socks and closed toe shoes (running shoes work well) and long pants... but that's just me.. I love to be warm.

It really is a fun experience if you're ready for a chill.

    Enjoy,

    Connie

    Awesome, thanks Connie.

We are doing the Epic Med cruise two weeks from today and I was wondering does anyone remember what time you can get off the ship, and what time you have to be back on by at each port for Naples, Rome, Livorno, Cannes, & Palma.

I am trying to book tours and in ports like Civitavecchia and Livorno it seems it can be 1-2 hrs travel from the port to get to the destinations (Rome/Florence) which might make it difficult to book tours.

    Thanks :)

  5. ICE BAR - unexpected fun

Okay, so I wasn't expecting to even consider going to the Ice Bar.

However, our solo host proposed it on the board as a group activity and a few of us decided to go. There is a EUR 25 charge, tax included, which gives you 30 min inside plus 2 (very strong) Vodka based drinks.

OMG, it was unbelievably fun, we had a blast posing, taking pictures, and jumping up and down to keep warm. It was worth every cent!

Hi. Love this review. Can you please tell me, did they provide you with anything to wear in the ice bar or do you need to bring warm clothes if you plan on going in there?

    Thanks :)

  6. Hi

After reading other posts that there are new perks, I checked NCL site for my cruise and cabin category. My cruise date (which I might add is now the most expensive out of the options!) and cabin category has the flag for the 'Eurpose Promotion' and 'Free at Sea'! Although I can only get one or the other and I think I will stick with the free drinks.

  7. Hi, DH and I are taking the epic for the eastern itinerary that leaves on Saturday and I still have several questions. This is my first mega ship and I'm a little nervous. I appreciate any help you guys can give.

    1. Has anyone done the new escape room activity? If so how was it run? Cost? Where do you sign up?

    2. How early do you need to be for the big shows if you have reservations? What about smaller shows like the comedy acts?

    3. Are posh passes still sold at guest services? What is the fastest way to get there?

    4. Anyone have recent dailies for the eastern on epic.

    Thanks for helping!

Good questions! I didn't even know about Escape the big top until I read this thread :)

    What are posh passes?

    TIA

  8. Hi

I got 250 minutes free as a perk but I think I will upgrade to unlimited.

Do the 250 minutes apply to everyone staying in the cabin i.e. can both my partner and I use it?

    Same question for unlimited.

I am guessing with unlimited noone else can use it e.g. a traveling companion staying in another cabin?

This is probably a silly question but does it work all over the ship?

    TIA

  9. I think it's a Flight Centre/Cruise World (NZ travel agencies) thing. We have has similar at Hotels when booking through them before. This is the perks we get with NCL:

"While cruising like a Norwegian you will enjoy the following exclusive My Time benefits:

    · Exclusive My Time branded electronic luggage tags.

    · Exclusive My Time expedited luggage delivery service.

    · Exclusive My Time check in area.

    · Exclusive My Time branded guest keycard.

    · Exclusive My Time Signature Spa Treatment Discount. Book any Signature Spa Treatment on any in-port day and receive a 20% discount. Normal Spa age restrictions apply. "

  10. ..... the new everyone can upgrade for a price thing ......

Where can I get more info on this?^^^^

Is it available to everyone regardless of country of residence?

Is it a discounted price or do you still have to pay the difference between you booked room and upgrade room?

    TIA :D

  11. It does have a smell, terrible one. And it produces so much smoke / vapour

Not trying to start an argument here but my e-cigarette juice is cheesecake. It smells like cheesecake and can only be smelt for moments after vaping. My sister who HATES the smell on smokers lets me vape in her car and house. I wouldn't vape in the cabin but I don't see why there is an issue with vaping on the balcony where noone else would even see it.

For the smokers: I don't smoke but DH does' date=' so here's where you can smoke: Spice H2O, port-side near the bar on the main pool deck, in the cigar lounge on 7 (go through Shakers), and in some areas of the casino.

    [/quote']

Thank you for all the great tips! In regards to smoking, are you allowed to smoke in the casino if you are not gambling? Also, is it true you can't smoke on balconies on NCL ships? My partner and I vape so not the same as smoking and it seems a bit strict considering we can't do any damage or set fire to anything with e-cigarettes

  13. Definitely take a euro adaptor for your ghd.

The euro voltage is 220v compared to US at 110v, so it's much closer to our 240v we use downunder, therefore works twice as well:)

As for tips, if you have the beverage package, it already includes the 18% tips in the perk if booked in Oz or NZ, you shouldn't need to pay any extra at all.

Thank you I will definitely invest in a euro adapter :)
