We have sailed twice with Celebrity and did a Mediterranean cruise and a river cruise with Viking.  We are now very spoiled by Viking and will only cruise with them. We are leaving soon on the Viking Homelands cruise.   

I went to the excursion desk as soon as we got on the ship and requested 8 spots on a sold out excursion.  The agent put us on a wait list.  We had tickets in our room that afternoon.  We were split into 2 groups which was fine.

I was able to get lattes from a bar on one of the lower decks.  I think deck 2.  They were complimentary.  I’ll be sailing soon on the Sea and am looking forward to the lattes and waffles with berries at Mamsen’s.

Thank you for your replies and tips.   We have decided to take the Flåm and can’t wait to see Norway.

Sounds wonderful.   Was it a problem getting seats on the right side of the train (which I read has the best views?)

Thank you!  Flåm Railway was originally my first choice but some of the reviews scared me off.  I will definitely reconsider.

We will be booking our excursions next week for the Viking Homelands.  Has anyone done the Voss, Geilo, Bergen Rail or the excursion to Gudvangen from Eidfjord?  I am looking for the most scenic tour.  The Flåm railway will probably be sold out and from video I’ve seen I felt it was not worth the price.   If there any other can’t miss excursions, please share.

FYI, the booking time on our given date was 3:00 A.M. EST or 12:00 A.M. Pacific time. Our group of 8 all got up during the night to make sure that we got the excursions and times that we wanted. Booking was easy and we all got our first choices. One couple adjusted a few times later that morning and had no problems. To be safe I would book as early as possible.
