  1. Sorry if you misunderstood. I just want to give it away for free instead of throwing it away. I'm not trying to sell it

Please note this post from the moderator -

"Sorry folks but I'm going to have to ask you not to post ads to sell or buy the Toursaver books... we don't allow posts from tour operators/guides etc. and these fall under the same sort of category.

    Your cooperation will be appreciated!

    Thanks!"

  2. I have a Northern Lights coupon book good until the end of 2018 for anyone who wants it. Barely used any of the coupons and there are so many I'd love for someone else to use them if you are planning to go anytime before the end of the year. I live in Maryland (close to DC) for easy pickup but could send if you want to pay to ship it. Up for grabs!

  3. We might be able to stay one extra night.

We are trying to figure out if maybe we just stick to the Seward/Anchorage region and do the 2 nights/3 full days in that area. Or, do we do one day in Seward and 2 more nights (basically 2 1/2 days) in Denali and leave out of Fairbanks so there is less driving.

Other factors in making this decision include, what excursions will we do on the boat. Our itinerary is:

Start in Vancouver, cruise inside passage, stop in Ketchikan (not sure what excursion we will do); stop in Juneau (will likely go see Mendenhall Glacier); stop in Skagway (not sure what we will do); Cruise Glacier Bay; Cruise Hubbard Glacier.

So, keeping all of that in mind, if we stick around Seward, are we seeing more of the same thing or will we be seeing different things. Is Denali something completely different that we shouldn't miss?

If we have 3 full days or 4 full days, where should we spend our time, taking into account what we are doing on the boat too?

    Thanks for all the advice!

  4. We are a family of 4 (10 and 12 year old adventurous girls) and our 7 day Alaska cruise (NCL from Vancouver) ends in Seward on a Monday in late August. So far, my plan is:

Monday - spend the day in Seward - see Kenai Fjords and Exit glacier and maybe a dog sled tour at Seavy's. Seavy's offers a day tour that includes a trip to Exit Glacier and lunch and a dog sled tour.Has anyone done this tour? Is it worth it? Will we see the important sights?

Also, Having trouble deciding if I should rent a car in Seward for $327 to drive to Anchorage or if we should just take a bus there. The bus costs $65 per person so it's cheaper, but will we miss things along the way? I don't mind the driving so if there's a lot to see/do along the way, driving might be worth it.

Stay overnight in Anchorage - any must see/do things there?

Tuesday - pick up new rental car, drive to Denali. Do rafting trip in afternoon

    stay overnight

Wednesday - tour Denali park - not sure if we should do guided tour or just the park shuttles. Any thoughts?

Afternoon drive to Fairbanks for 9:30 pm flight home

This is a once in a lifetime trip - I don't forsee being able to get back any time in the next 10-20 years after this trip. That said, this trip is already costing a lot more than we thought and we do need to find places to save, but still being able to do all the amazing things. Would love some advice . . .

  5. If we flew out of Fairbanks instead of Anchorage, does that give us more time in Denali? Then, on day 2 we could drive up early from Anchorage to Denali, spend the day there and overnight and the whole next day (day 3). We would leave on a flight out of Fairbanks at 9:45 pm on day 3 so we would not stay overnight.. It will cost an extra $200 on the car rental to not return it to Anchorage, but if it gets us more time to do the things in Denali we want to do, such as a tour and a rafting trip, then it could be worth it (without the cost of an extra night of hotel and another rental car day if we stayed a 3rd night). Any thoughts?

  6. I definitely underestimated the time it will take to get to Denali. I rented a car from Seward - we arrive early on a Monday morning. I figured we would spend the day around Seward and then drive to Anchorage later in the afternoon, stopping for dinner somewhere and stay overnight in Anchorage. I will change rental cars in the morning on Tuesday and drive up to Denali early. I think we will stay overnight at Denali Fireside Cabins and Suites. We can spend the next day there as well and drive back to Anchorage in the afternoon. Our flight out would be at 9:45 pm. I'd love to stay longer but I don't think we can do it. But we really want to see Denali. Any ideas of what we shouldn't miss?

  7. We are a family of 4 (2 girls 10 and 12) and are trying to figure out where to stay after our 7 day NCL cruise from Vancouver to Seward in August 2018. I was thinking of spending the day around Seward (maybe seeing the Kanai fjords), renting a car and driving to Anchorage. Staying overnight in Anchorage and spending the next day in Denali. Trying to decide whether to stay in Denali the second night or drive back and stay in Anchorage. The 3rd day, our flight leaves at 9:45 pm, so we have all day. Any thoughts on where to stay? Do you go with hotel or airbnb?

I was hoping to do some whitewater rafting in Denali with the girls (they are adventurous). What are the must see sights in Denali? Should we spend the night there and make it 1 and a half days? Any advice is appreciated!

  8. Laura are you on the June 26 cruise? If so maybe we can take a van taxi to Nice if there's a strike. My guy and I were planning on doing the same as you, minus the relative lunch :-) are you going to the roll call meetups?

Yes - we are on that cruise! I am not sure I am going to the meetups, but if there is a strike we are happy to coordinate a van with you!

feel free to email me at laura.44@verizon.net.

  9. We are on the NCL Epic at the end of June and would love to visit Nice for the day when we are in the Cannes port. How do I find out the train schedules? Is it easier to rent a car? Will parking be difficult in Nice? How far is it to get up to Eze to enjoy the view?

If the car is too difficult, I was thinking we could take the train to Nice and potentially taxi to the old town from the train station, enjoy the flower market and shops in the old town. We plan to meet a relative for lunch around 1:30 in the old city.

We have 8 and 10 year old daughters and I was trying to figure out what else we could see and do before we need to get back to Cannes. Our ship arrives in port at 8 am and leaves at 6 pm.

Any help/ advice would be appreciated!

    Laura

  10. Thanks for the helpful review!

You mentioned that you had an odd-numbered cabin but did not have the port views. I am confused. We will be in 13251 (family balcony cabin) on the Epic on the same itinerary as you. I figured that based on the route, our side of the ship would face the land (or the ports) as we go up the coast of Italy and France. Is that incorrect?

  11. Has anyone taken Epic's excursion to Cinque Terre? We would like to visit Cinque Terre on our stop in Livorno. We looked into private tours - possibly through Italy Tour Sharing. My favorite tour I found was a private tour by boat that included time for snorkling or swimming, but we would have to get to La Spezia or Montorosso and getting there on our own from Livorno would require dealing with the trains or paying for a taxi that would cost almost as much as the tour from the boat!

Does anyone have any insight into NCL's tour and whether it was a good tour? our the toursharing tour? We have 2 kids (8 and 10) who are up for the journey!

    Thanks!

    Laura

  12. We are booked on the Epic in June. Do you get any drinks - soda, lemonade, etc with your meals or do they cost extra? We are mostly water drinkers and are not big alcohol drinkers but maybe a glass of wine or beer or two at dinner on vacation. We are trying to decide if we should choose the beverage package or shore excursion (we also chose the dining upgrade)

Basically, what drinks are included in the regular meals?

  13. Even if I don't need to connect to NCL wifi? It's a jet pack Portable WiFi so I usually connect my iPhone to the jet pack. I am wondering if the jet pack will work (since I don't usually need to connect to other wifi to get internet access).
