  1. Definitely need to get it right on the first day then!;)

    Thanks... :)

Think so,although we changed three time in the first three days on our QE trip earlier this year.

We were offered different times different tables ,a choice of two once before we settled, only gave one tip. We came quite friendly with the Maitre d who visited us regularly at the table, didn't do any harm.

Have you read the posts by Deck chair he has sailed 22 times on the QM2.He knows the crack

  2. If you are on various legs of a world cruise, are you allocated new tables at the beginning of each leg? Invariably you are out sightseeing on changeover day, so do you return to your cabin later that day and find a new table card?

    Thanks...

No keep the same table. We did 2 legs on the QE earlier this year and it was the same.

    See you soon.

  3. Thanks David....ofcourse QE....but we are well through our day here and the bar has been open a couple of hours.!

Thanks for the input...it seems to confirm and add a liitle more. Appreciated.

To Tradeboy...of course it isnt. If you don't ask you don't get., Regards to all

  4. We were spoilt on our earlier cruise this year on the QE2 from Hong Kong to Southampton when we were given a nice round table by the large stern windows with interupted views, particularly good when entering ports like Istanbul and the Suez passage.

I read in a review, after the remastering, that the writer had a preference for the 2nd floor and the first tier of the Britannia. His opinion being that he thought it to be a more open aspect and certainly not as closed in as the first floor. Not that the flooring arrangement has been changed during the remastering.

Would anybody like to comment on which floor, first or second and which tier please.

Only a few days to go.

    Thank you

  5. Thanks Salacia.....3 great posts....it just shows how you can have second thoughts and they are just as valuable as the first.

I'm sure you did Hattie a favour,

Can I use my wifes allowance or are the times limited to logins on one 'computer' to one username?

    Regards

  6. Perhaps Hattie could list the various options for Internet. The charges...the allowances for silver, gold etc...if these are per day...per voyage for world cruise sectors, for whole world cruise or whatever and of course per person and not stateroom.

I'm sure that most people are completely bewildered by it all.

Or is it that Cunard have explained somewhere on the dark web

  7. Hi Silverhead6736,

I am on part of your world voyage, from Southampton to Sydney, then disembark for 5 days, before returning for the Sydney to Hong Kong segment and having never been on part of a world cruise, I am curious if the ship settles our on board account at the end of every leg, or just when you disembark?

Hello Lobbylin....sorry its taken a few days to get back to you. Accounts are usuallly settled at the end of each leg by the ship drawing on your nominated credit card. However you can settle when you like. Before disembark I usually get all my cash together, usually dollars, and take it down to the office and cash it in against my account. On each leg , each passenger is entitled to a bottle duty free from the shop to drink in your cabin, its a worthwhile concession. However we found on the QE rtw earlier this year that at a lot of ports you passed through a duty free shop to return to the ship, so you could buy to take aboard. Never short of a drink in the cabin. When we visited Petra from Aquba the captain laid on a chapagne reception on the quay before rejoing the ship....a nice touch.

    Enjoy. Silverhead6736

  8. I am looking to book a tour of the garden route from arrival Cape Town on th e 26th January 2017 to departure from Port Elizabeth on the 29th.

I am enquiring about a tour of Cape town a jouney down the Garden route with overnight stays, a tour of Port Elizabeth before rejoining the ship.

    Do you have any intrest?

  9. Sailing on the Queen Mary 11 round the world voyage and wondering which credit card I should use to pay my account.

I have just signed up with Halifax Clarity and used it for an extended holiday in Mallorca. I am suprised at the so few extra charges, with this card.

Therefore is this the card to use to settle my onboard account and any other expenses, tours etc.

Appreciate others comments particularly with exchange rates as they are.

  10. Thanks everyone. Thought I would ask what I thought was a question that would not provoke such answers. You can see my No. of posts is only about 10 so perhaps I should retire now{go to bed}.

To Roscoe39. Hatties last word was 'Apologies' so maybe she did not consider it aggresive.

To Summergee. I would except for the delay and lack of answers that so many comment on.

  11. Sorry Hattie

I thought it was very clear, would not have written it otherwise.

On world cruises each passenger is allowed to buy one bottle of spirits duty free on each leg of the cruise for there own consumption.

For example on this year's QE world cruise which we joined in Hong Kong we were allowed one bottle each to Dubai and another bottle each to Southampton.

We were also allowed to buy any amount of duty free for taking ashore in Southampton which was only available two days before arrival for taking ashore. Therefore I repeat my question what are the duty free legs on the QM2 round the world in 2017.

or something like that!!!!!it its dated march 2015 so is up to date.

Doing the HK to Southampton leg. Seems a lot of trouble to go ashore in In dia and the organised trips seem to be lacking. Viator is a possibility.

  13. Have read the Cunard excursions and none appeal.

Can anyone help to advise on what we should do when visiting Chennai on voyage Q603.

Maybe we should go for a health check up as recommended on " The Real Marigold Hotel "
