  1. Hello, I wore shorts & tshirt over my bikini, my flip flops get attached to you so they do not fall off. Saw some people in bikinis but be aware you are helped into your harness so depends if you worry about someone touching you quite closely as they do up the snaps etc. It is great fun try and have someone on the ground with a camera

  2. I have sailed with Cunard, P&O twice, NCL twice, Princess and one other and none have been perfect, anyone who expects this will be disappointed but all have been very enjoyable.

Why I like P&O is the formal evenings and a good cup of tea and especially tea making fascilities in the cabin. Fooled is good and I enjoy the entertainment.

However we did NCL Spirit last year very informal but I preferred the buffet the choice of pastries, the lay out and choice of hot food. The entertainment was good and a good mixture of people but I did miss the formal evenings. But if a good itinerary came up at the right price I would happily forgo the formal but by choice I like P&O

For younger people and if you like being around Americans then Princess for the Caribbean in January was good when I was in my twenties, unfortunately more than a few years ago.

  3. We went to Brewers so we could snorkel unfortunately it was rough and pouring with rain but had a lovely swim instead. Be aware the toilets (restrooms) when we were there were disgusting and that was to just get changed after swimming. A friend with us walked in and straight out, he didn't want to put his bag on the floor!! Hopefully it was a bad week and they are usually better....

  4. I would suggest going to Mullet Bay for the morning, some good snorkelling and plenty of swimming loads of kids were there and easy swimming. You can hire snorkels, floats etc at the beach, then pack up and walk around the road to Maho beach takes about 10 mins and there is a path next to the road it's an easy walk. Find a spot and watch the planes try standing either end to watch the planes go over or in the middle to have them fly over you. It was rammed when we went and not really anyone swimming much and the sun beds right next to each other all the way along. Have fun and enjoy what ever you do.

  5. Hello, we have recently come back from cruising on Azura and we did the Middleham Falls hike on Dominica. We took Deet spray (20%) because of the Zika virus and any other biting flies etc however we never used it, forgot to put it on for our hike and never had a single bite. If you are concerned just use Deet or any natural spray which you are happy with, go and enjoy yourself.

  6. To be honest it should be an adults responsibility to attend the drill as at the end of the day it is your own life which could be at stake and if you cannot be bothered to attend or when you do talk all the way through then is it the companies fault, unfortunately this happens to often. Even had people on NCL Spirit taking photos despite being asked 3 times to take the drill seriously and put the camera away. Unfortunately no drill will ever replicate a real emergency.

  7. I really can't understand why people complain about black tie formal evenings on P&O, if you do not want to dress up then go with NCL who have no formal evenings. Why should the minority who don't want to dress up think the ship should change their dress code to accommodate them. There is choice out there for everyone with different ships offering different experiences make your choice on this. It a bit like people complaining about a port in an itinery eg Casablanca and yet they knew this was part of a particular cruise. Bizarre. So if you do not want to where a DJ or suit on formal night then don't choose a cruise line who has 4 formal nights or similar, simples

  8. Hello, we have just come back from the Caribbean and we went to Mullet beach first but took a taxi for $8 pp each way only because 5 ships in and thought it would be easiest. Mullet is a lovely beach, if you like snorkling the left hand side by the rocks was great. You can hire snorkel gear on the beach. You can walk around the road to Maho and takes about 10 mins. There was a delay driving over and took nearly 1 HR but only 35 mins coming back even though there was a car accident, fortunately we could drive around this by using a driveway. But we did leave by 1.30 so as to not be caught up in traffic.

  9. We have just come back from Barbados and the check in process took no more than 5 minutes, but it was not busy. You will find the immigration form on the seat of the bus try and fill it n before you get to the 'shed' and it makes it quicker. Enjoy

  10. We were on P&O Azura and had a day in Amber Cove. My partner booked an ATV tour through the ship and I went off ship early with him.

When you are arriving be up on deck or on your balcony as there were 2 X whales which delayed our entrance but swam, played and breached right next to the ship, fantastic.

Back to Amber Cove, my partner went on one of the maga trucks up to the hills to the ATV start and they went up in the hills and saw the 'real' Dominican Republic he loved it.

I went to the pool area and got myself a sun bed next to the shallow pool this is approx 2ft deep you can sit in the centre and it comes up to your chest. The water goes in a circle with 2 pool areas one shallow one deeper but no more than 4ft with channels going under the bridges connecting them. You can walk or swim around.

We rented an umbrella for $8 and drinks were $5 for a non alcoholic cocktail or $2 for a can of Coke. I didn't eat but a lot of people were having burger and chips brought out to their us loungers.

I paid $12 for u limited use of the zip wire which was very enjoyable but I went early so did not have to queue. I also was lying underneath the zip wire but did not think it too loud or annoying.

The tube water slides are free but be aware the walk up is partly on gravel a stupid design but I am sure will be amended soon - we walked up together and then one of us walked back down carrying shoes and sunglasses. The open one is a little scary as I kept thinking I might go over the edge (not even close actually) but if you have any problems with your neck do not do I only did once. The closed slide is dark until you shoot out the end.

Overall I really enjoyed my day of chill out by the pool, if I came again I would, book a trip which takes me into the hills to see the real part of the country.

The shops were mostly open but not into shopping so did not go in and the walk to the pier is a nice amble or just go on the trikes.
