  1. where is ROTS terminal berth? Also has anyone overnighted on ship in Venice and disembarked? What are the times starting for disembarkation, can you disembark on day of arrival or do you have to wait til next morning?

We were in two different berths for departure and arrival. Leaving we were farther away because there was a bigger Costa ship in port. When we arrived, we were the biggest ship (there was a little Thompson ship) and we were right in line with the people mover.

We arrived in Venice at 6 AM. Scheduled departures ran from 730-930 based on C&A level and post-cruise plans. We were off the ship, luggage in hand by 810 (and we had a 750 scheduled disembark)

  2. 1. Most convenient location to stay? I am thinking about the area near the train station where we could walk to the Piazzale Roma and then take the people mover. And then walk to the pier. YES to Piazzale Roma. It was so amazing to only drag my suitcases over a single bridge and not have to lug them onto water taxis.

    2. Best way to get between airport and hotel? Is it worth it to book this through the cruise line? We took the ATVO shuttle bus. It was 15 euros round trip a person, and very easy

    3. Best way to go from hotel to cruise terminal? What pier is normally used by Royal Caribbean in cruises sailing out of Venice? I know there are several piers and walking distance will depend on this. And then back when we disembark. I believe we left from something with a 17 in it, and when we came back we were much closer. We took the people mover (1.5 euros a person) and it was very easy....just a bit of a walk getting out to the ship. Nothing a little pre-cruise excitement couldn't fuel

    4. Specific hotel suggestions? Not looking for fancy or expensive hotels but not looking to stay in a dump either. Not sure if this is on the low side but no more than 150€ per night. It will be two nights in separate stays. The night of July 14 and the night of July 25. On our way out, we stayed at Locanda Allogi Marinella. On our way back, Arlecchino. Both had free wifi and breakfast, though Arlecchino's was more extensive. Arlechinno is on the water. Both were wonderful places, both allowed us to be in our rooms by no later than 10 AM. Arlecchino is on the canal. Both were between 150-200 euros a night and were old fashioned yet clean. I used this website to get insight, ideas, and ultimately links to book http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/articles/venice-cruise-terminal-hotels.htm

I also posted in the Trip Advisor forum but I think I can get more specific suggestions here from people who have done this or are even in the same sailing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  3. Just off of Rhapsody June 3-13. I Found the MDR food to be good, but usually not matching my expectations. For example: one night I ordered lobster bisque, a favorite soup of mine. What I got looked and tasted similar to a Manhattan clam chowder. I also felt the portions were on the smaller side. With that being said, the flavors were usually fine, our service was impeccable, and if we ended the night still hungry, we went and grazed at the buffet

  4. Is anyone else having problems logging in on the RCI website?

I went to log into my account to go onto my Cruise Planner, and when I click on something it takes me to the Customer Support page!

Just wondering if it was a problem with my account, or the website!

  5. Depending where u stay in Venice, I highly recommend taking the Alilaguna Blu Line, directly to port/cruise terminal. Very convenient and cheap. Boarded at San Zaccaria.

We also took this line from the airport to our hotel.

    Here's the link:

We are actually staying about 2 streets away from the Plaza Roma, so all we have to do is walk over 2 bridges to the People Mover~ But we are excited to cruise around Venice when we get back!

  6. Hello all,

I am new to cruising, so I am hoping that experienced cruisers can help settle my nerves about embarkation day! We are on Rhapsody's Greek and the Adriatic cruise on June 3rd. When should we expect to get information about the time to arrive at the dock/get on the ship? We are staying in Venice the night before and I am trying to set up a timeline for us that day. What embarkation advice can you offer us?

Another question (because I have read a lot of mixed information here!)...on a 10-day cruise in Europe, how many formal nights should I expect, and what should I REALLY pack (not just what RCI suggests!)?

And finally...we have chosen My Time Dining...do we still make reservations (if so, when do we do this?)

Thank you ahead of time for your patience in answering my newbie questions!
