I am a expert in Rolex history and manufacturing, you can pick up this special tool to remove the back of any Rolex and see the movement, you cannot fake the movement due to 21 jewels and craftsmanship. Before I purchase any watch I check the movement, if the seller will not allow you to open then walk away. This is the easiest way to tell a real from a copy. I have seen some amazing reverse engineered watches but they never incorporate the jewels because then they could not sell it for 2000.

    There are many other signs but you have to know your watches both the year and the model. Buyer beware

    PS I have had that submariner for 25 years and will bequeath it in my will, it has dived to 110 feet and been through Afghanistan and Iraq, is it worth the money you have to decide
