  1. My 16 year old tried getting away with shorts and was told you go and change, this wasn't a chic night either. I had told him no shorts but he wouldn't listen to me - I'm glad he was told to change. Shorts for dinner is a no no for me.

  2. There are germ phobic passengers who wipe down their entire rooms with Lysol wipes, including inside the closets and drawers after the stewards clean the rooms. I've never seen one bring a vacuum aboard though <smile> Some even clean the silverware before they eat but they let the crew do the dishes afterward !

That's so funny!! Talk about extreme[emoji21]

  3. The cars are very fast, and very loud.

From our seats we got to see some good passing, racing and even a number of cars off the track

The race ended without a single safety car (don’t I sound like an expert now) and only a small yellow flag area in front of us for a couple of minutes so it was all over in a bit more than 90 minutes. The fireworks after the race were AWESOME! With nearly two and a half hours before Rihanna would go on, and the fact we had made plans with some friends to meet up for dinner since this was the last night of the cruise, I decided to miss out on the concert that night. I do regret it, but also think it was a good move. Dinner was pretty bad at the track the night before and I am not sure what I would have done for the long time in between the race ending and Rihanna and then getting back to the ship so late if I could find a taxi easily. So we left the track, flagged down and forced (by nearly standing in the road) for a taxi to stop and we all (5 of us) piled into the sedan (Camary). Probably not a good move as the driver could have been fined. We were sure to leave him a nice tip. We were back onboard by just after 7:15p. Not long after I offered our tickets to a few friends who gladly grabbed them and off they went to the concert which I heard they enjoyed but didn’t get to see as they had an early flight out the next morning.

We enjoyed our final evening in Tuscan with a nice meal and a great bottle of wine and reminisced about what we would do for our next adventure.

Next up is our two very full days in Dubai!

    Happy sailing

Quick Jenna with your Dubai post please [emoji12][emoji1360] we are flying out next Friday and sail from Abu Dhabi on Saturday to Dubai arriving in Dubai for 2 nights/3 days from Sunday to Tuesday. I NEED your tips and hints. You really should do this for a living. Reading your posts has been far more interesting and informative than any travel book I've read. Well done. Where's your next cruise?

  4. Have you booked yet for Dec? My family and I are on Fantasia 17th Dec from Dubai. Am lucky to have son and family based in Dubai so I will be spending five weeks out there in total. Great to escape winter weather in the U.K. - temperatures are great in Dubai in Dec - on one visit it reached 32C!

On Skype with son yesterday and it was 38C whilst here in Bristol is was just 12C. Roll on 7th Dec when I leave for my trip.

    Good luck with your plans.

Hi Suzanne, not long now before you go to sunny climes! You are very lucky indeed to be spending 5 weeks in Dubai!

Any temperature above -3 would be good right now! I'm rather in a muddle RE packing however. In Spain in winter even if weather is warm the locals dress in autumn/winter fashion clothes and not the usual summer attire. Is this the same in Dubai/Abu Dhabi/Oman? I don't want to look a complete idiot abroad!!

  5. Just to be thorough and to help folks on future cruises below is a link to the Celebrity Today issues for the entire cruise plus a few other useful documents. Not much new here. The following cruise will likely be more useful as it is a much more rarely traveled itinerary.

This file is over 54mb so be patient to download.

    Hopefully it works.

    Happy sailing,

  6. Thanks folks. A classic package for one of us will be £340 for 9 nights. With a cruise that's mostly port stops with one sea day. I've got the soda package for the teens but still in a dilemma re the package for us as that would be £680, seems a lot to me for alcohol! I need to be hangover free to enjoy the places we plan on visiting, but do love a glass of wine or two and a G&T! Ho hum

  7. If you booked an inside or a guarantee cabin, then you wouldn't qualify for the beverage package as a perk. Unsure what you've reserved? The 18% gratuity on every drink is additional to the daily service charge.

Repricing on a UK booking is totally different than those reserved in the US. On UK bookings, you will lose your deposit by repricing, not so in the States. Only pointing this out so that you are aware of the differences ;).

Thank you. I'm rather confused about Celebrity as it seems very different to P&O, we are looking forward to it though. Is there a list of bar prices anywhere so I can figure if it's worth purchasing a package?

  8. Get him the wifi package, then you are all done! (I've got a similar reluctant 16 year old!) interesting ports are a good one too. Don't whatever you do mention the 'teen club' not cool at all. Let them find their own way on board and hopefully meet other teens. Good luck!

  9. If you have only booked recently I would check with your TA why you haven't got the drinks package included ? Also if you've only paid the deposit it might be worth repricing the cruise today and rebook with the free drinks package - you would lose your deposit but it might be cheaper than paying for all the drinks package on the ship ??

We've already booked in full. I'm beginning to get annoyed with our TA now! I think I might have words with them but they've got our money now so they won't care. Ummm lesson learnt! Thanks guys [emoji44]
