  1. While it is an NCL private island, it is employed by locals who have to get paid somehow. The island also has to be maintained. So you pay for food and drinks on the island (see the Google Drive link above for menus and prices).

Thank you for taking pictures of the map and menus. Sounds like you had the right attitude!! I think NCL did the right thing here since they are taking business away from the Belize port. The locals need jobs too! I did enjoy using my UBP on Great Stirrup Cay, but I only stood in that loooong line for one drink anyways.

Was it obvious to guests that they couldn't use their UBP and would have to pay for food before they got off of the ship? I can understand if people were upset if it wasn't apparent, but like you said it is easy to just walk back on the ship for food/drinks!

  2. If you use the UDP/SDP for your meal you may order multiple appetizers and desserts, but if you chose to order a second entre they will charge you an additional fee ($10 I believe). On a side note, at Cagneys, on the escape, I ordered the bone in rib eye and then decided to add a lobster tail to that and I wasnt up charged.

Do you know how the a la carte menus work with the UDP? I saw something on NCL.com about how there would be like a ~$10 up charge if you use your UDP at one of the a la carte restaurants. But is that per person/dish or per item ordered (like appetizer +10, entree +10, dessert +10)?

  3. Our Western Caribbean cruise on the Getaway isn't until December - but I want to plan everything out to the tee. I'm trying to decide between a spa pass or trying to get to the port early enough for a vibe pass (We'd love the cabana). Honestly, if the price difference isn't that much per person, I'd rather not be rushed/stressed about getting to the port early enough.

We can't purchase spa passes yet, so the prices aren't even showing on ncl.com. Does anyone know how much passes are for a week long cruise per person?

I know vibe has its advantages since it has a bar and won't be crowded but like I said I don't want to be stressed about getting one vs not getting one. What do you guys think? Spa or vibe?
