  1. Just curious what you did in this port. We're in La Romana twice this fall, but I can't seem to find any helpful suggestions as to what to do/book for this port...just a lot of negative posts along the line as stayed on ship and did laundry.

    Thanks

Same here. We're on the Splendor this weekend!! Will be at La Romana on 6/7. Looking at taking the bus to the caves - OR - doing the Monkeyland excursion.

  2. We are wondering too....We fly in to FLL Friday night, stay at a hotel in Hollywood then need a ride to POM Saturday morning.

We already have reservations with SAS but it's $90 round trip (3 people) plus tips.

Someone mentioned Lyft so I downloaded the app and they give new users a $50 credit ($10 each trip x5)

A ballpark price from our hotel (Quality Inn, Hollywood) will be around $60ish round trip, so $40 plus tips with the Lyft credit.

I know Uber is more popular, has anyone used Lyft?

    Personal experience?

  3. Found this bad boy at a boutique for $15! It's a crushable paper-poly blend with 7" brim.

I've also seen floppy beach hats at Walmart, Target has some cute ones (if you still shop there) and other stores like Bealls, etc

  4. I agree with the other posters - there is no such thing as a 'sylish' water shoe! lol

We LOOOVVVEEEEE Fila Skeletoes. Seriously. They - by far - stay on the best and have arch support. Not the prettiest but do work the best in water and you can wear them from water straight to land. Love them.

  5. I use glass craft blocks to add sand and a pic (with added text of where and date) If you have Hobby Lobby, they are 50% off every other week or you can always get a digital 40% coupon. Or, Mason jars would work too!

  6. I've been wearing gel on my fingernails for years. My natural nails are strong and grow fast so regular polish only lasts maybe 2 days!

We're heading out on the Splendor for an 8 day cruise so I am getting gel on my toes too. Yes, it takes longer to get the polish off, yes you have to soak it. That's known ahead of time and just part of getting a gel manicure, not sure why it's an issue?

  7. Tried to post this specifically on the Splendor forum but for some reason, there's not a 'new topic' button.

I HAVE to have morning coffee and it HAS to be all kids of jacked up.

What flavored creamers does Carnival usually have, if any?

Regular ol' vanilla would be fine.....

I'd rather not pack and tote around a can of my own but will if need be.

    :D

  8. Is there a "welcome to" La Romana or Dominican Republic sign close-ish to the port? We have a tradition of taking a pic wearing our hockey jerseys in every country we visit. Haven't been able to find it online

  9. These threads always make me laugh. Someone posts that they think the drinks are expensive on a cruise.. then everyone rushes to tell them that the drinks in their town are just as expensive.

Its all relative to where you live. Maybe it IS expensive for the OP. I know my usual extra dirty martini is $9 here..and I gladly pay it. I expect to pay that much on a cruise. But a rum/diet is around $4 here..I won't pay the cruise price for it.

Exactly. We're in Texas and "long necks" (bottled beer) are usually around $2

and mixed drinks around $4-$5. We're not big drinkers so the CCL drink package is waaayyyy too much for us. We'll hit the drink specials a night or two, no biggie.
