  1. Hi, we justreturned from our ABC cruise, sailed with Crown Princess. Not sure if my advicewill be practical since you've already booked a ship tour.

We spent a full day (7 am -10 pm ) inWillemstad and did a full day private island tour with Taxi Max. We are in our mid-50s, very fit and active. We had island tours on Aruba and Bonaire as well, butCuracao with Taxi Max was definitely thehighlight of our cruise! He was generous with his time and informationand he was a wonderful driver as well as tour guide. Very professional, knowledgeable, engaging, well-spokenand exceptionally friendly. He takes hisguests to authentic places and knows the island and locals very well.

The tournever felt rushed and we enjoyed our time there. It felt like a friend showing his hometown.

His vehicle was very well maintained, clean andcomfortable. His driving and concern for our well being was very obvious whichmade our day even more relaxing.

We went totwo fabulous snorkeling sites and swam with big turtles. Taxi Max is great assnorkeling instructor. Not only he tookus to the fantastic beaches away from the crowds, but he was snorkeling alongwith us, pointing to the best spots to view marine life and fish, showing usthings we would have missed on our own.

We didseveral private tours during this and our previous Caribbean cruises and his price is very competitive, while his performanceis at the highest. I would definitely recommend to contact him with yourrequest. There wasn't a question I askedthat stumped him. He replied toall my emails and WhatsApp messages almost immediately, answering all myquestions and concerns right away. Greatand easy communication.

Send me aprivate msg if you want more information.

    Thanks for the suggestion/info.

  2. There will be minibuses and taxis at the port...just tell them what you want ,,they will fill bus up then take you and pick yu up......only pay them when they pick you up...its the normal thing

    Good to know, thanks!

  3. I took the local bus to Nelson's Dockyard. It was very easy and reasonable. The downside was seeing place you might want to stop and take a picture where the bus didn't stop. With a tour you will see more, and stop at the great photo stops.

    Thanks Sunshine002!

  4. Hello Cruisers,

I've booked an excursion "Curacao Highlights and Beach Fun" through the cruise line which ends around 12:30. Our ship is docked until 10:00 p.m. Any suggestions on what to do in the afternoon and in the evening? Any other tours you would recommend? Any decent restaurants and shops near the port?

    Thank you :D

  5. Hello Cruisers,

I've book a boat cruise excursion to the Pitons through the Royal Caribbean which ends about 12:30 p.m. Our ship is in St. Lucia until 5:00 p.m. Any suggestions on what to do in the afternoon? Are there any decent restaurants, shops or public beaches near the port to spend a couple of hours.

    Thank you :D

  6. Lawrence gives a great tour and you can add the beach if you want. It is 40 plus 8 for National Park entrance fee for just the tour 50 plus 8 if you add the beach. I would recommend booking it in advance. You do not have to pay to reserve.

Thanks for your response allentownahoy! Lawrence sounds like a good plan.

  7. Solo traveller on a cruise; will be in Antigua from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In the morning, I'd like to take an island tour to include Nelson's Dockyard and Shirley Heights. In the afternoon, I'd like to go to a nice, calm white-sandy beach which has lockers and is near restaurants and some shops. I can't decide whether to take a RC excursion which is a bit pricey, book a local tour bus (i.e. Lawrence of Antigua) or attempt to do this on my own by a local bus. Because I'm travelling solo, I'm trying to take the least expensive route, but a bit nervous to take local buses on my own. From previous posts, I saw a local tour bus called Lawrence of Antigua. Does anyone know how much they charge and if you have to pre-book online or can you book once arrive in port? Recommendations and advice GREATLY appreciated. MANY THANKS!!!:ship::D:D

  8. The similar tours offered online by various taxi drivers for about the same price, last for about 6 hours. They pick you up at the dock, take you to town for shopping or sightseeing on your own, drive to scenic lookouts as they narrate, drop you at a beach for about 2 hours, then take you back to the ship.

The tours at the dock for $25 may be just a 2 hour tour that takes you to scenic lookouts and drops you in town or back to the ship. You MAY get an offer from a taxi driver at the dock that will include beach time so get clarification before you decide on a tour at the dock.

You can also make a reservation for one of the longer tours. How many in your group?

Thanks for the information Ms411. Booking a tour at the dock sounds like a great idea!

  9. We'll be in St. Thomas from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. We want to go to Magen's Beach, enjoy a scenic tour of and do some shopping. The cruise line we'll be on offers an excursion for 2.75 hours for $35.00 each. It seems a bit expensive for such a short time. Does anyone know if there are inexpensive, similar tours, longer in duration, available to book at the port?

    Thanks.

  10. We'll be in St. Maarten from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and would like to take a taxi or bus to Orient Beach for a few hours and then go shopping. Is this plan doable, or should we book a tour through the cruise line? From what I've read, it appears traffic is a major problem and taxis are expensive. What's the best, inexpensive areas to shop for souvenirs and local artisans jewelry?

    Thanks.

  11. Hello,

We're first-time cruisers. We're doing a B2B 14-day Caribbean cruise. I'm just wondering how much cash to take and should we exchange any USD to local currency before disembarking for the following ports: Jamaica, Mexico, Cayman Isl., Dominican, and Saint Maarten?

    Thanks.

  12. Hello,

We're thinking of booking the Turtle Farm "Adventure Farm" online rather than a tour through the cruise line, so we can spend a little more time there. After, we want to also go to Hell and then to Seven Mile beach on our own. How are the taxis, local bus? We'll be in the Cayman Islands from 7 am to 4 pm. Is this doable? Also, does anyone know if our payment to the Turtle Farm is refundable in case the tender is cancelled due to bad weather?

    Thanks!!

  13. Hello,

We're thinking of booking a day-pass for Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel rather than booking an excursion through the cruise line. How far is Mr. Sanchos from the port? How much will a taxi cost? Are the taxis at the port government regulated? I'll be travelling with my teenaged daughter and worry about safety.

    Thank you.
