  1. Going on a closed loop out of Seattle (we are both US citizens), my husband can not find his passport (recently moved - its here somewhere), if we sail on our birth certificates and state issued ID, can we disembark/embark in Victoria, BC?  We know we need to fill out the AriveCAN app etc.  We leave next week.

I have scoured the Canadian Tourism site and it says if traveling by sea that you need a passport or in some cases travel documents.

  2. Hey all!! Experienced cruiser on RCL, going on first NCL cruise.  Curious if there are any special things that will help make our experience better.

    will be on NCL Dawn

Are the “light” cards helpful or necessary?

Do they punch holes for sea cards (not sure what they are called on NCL) or do we need the plastic cover?

For drink package are given a souvenir cup or is it just on your card you have it?

    any other tips or recommendations?

    Thanks!!

  3. New to cruising with NCL, I have the promo of the Adult Beverage Package as well.  It is offering the upgrade to premium plus.

The Plus would be worth it if we will be wanting juices/specialty coffee/energy drinks/bottledwater etc?

Also to clarify, I will be purchasing a drink package for my daughter (16) the only option for her is the Adult/Teen soda package -- but this would not include the above listed drinks either?

We usually do the unlimited package with RCL (or what it used to be called) and we enjoyed the fresh juice and coffee, etc.  Also was nice being able to grab a cold bottle of water before departure and return.  Just trying to make sure I'm making selections that will best suite our style.

  4. We have booked this tour for our upcoming sailing on Oasis. Stupid question, like all tours we are preparing to tip our guide. What is a recommended amount, of course we will take into account experience and over the top service to tip even more. Just didn’t know what a good base would be.

    Thanks!

  5. Trying to figure out a hotel for our cruise in two weeks. I found a Hampton Inn near MCO that has this package:

    Rate Details Port Canaveral Pkg

Book this package and enjoy accommodations at the Hampton Inn Orlando Airport at Gateway Village, plus transportation for two adults to and from Port Canaveral(Additional passengers $50 per person).

It is $100 over the room package. I am going to call them tomorrow to see what the arrival time and shuttle/service is for leaving as well as returning. They offer free airport shuttles, so I'm hoping we can utilize this on the way back to the airport on the return from the cruise.

    Any thoughts or experience?

  6. Cathi!...or anyone else with recommendations.

We will be sailing November 2017 on Oasis! :D YAY!

Currently have MTD booked, when we sailed Freedom last year we had a scheduled seating. Does it matter, is it easier to do MTD on Oasis to ensure we get the entertainment we want?

We also haven't decided if we want to do any specialty dining packages etc. I'm sure that would play into the MTD vs. regular dining as well.

    Thanks for the input!

  7. We did the train ride through RCC in St. Kitts and it was AMAZING! It was long though; between 3-4 hours. You got to see the majority of the island though and they provided free drinks with the ticket. You either ride a shuttle half way there and a train back, or have a short shuttle ride, then train, then longer shuttle ride. Either way it was enjoyable and very educational!

  8. I am about to book a cruise through RCI website, if something comes up I just want to clarify that as long as its not past final payment I can always call and move my cruise/dates (I know I may loose the promotion) but I won't lose the deposit or amount thats been paid up to that point. Silly Question I know, but I'm having a brain lapse this morning.

    Thank you everyone!

  9. I just got a mini selfie stick for my upcoming cruise, plan to use it mostly on the islands. Curious what is a good selfie stick app? I have an Android Motorola phone. Thanks in advance! :D

I bought a $5 selfie stick from walmart. Not with bluetooth so I didn't have to keep it charged. It used the app already on my phone for the camera. I loved it because hubby and I could take the pictures we wanted with both of us in it. I would extend the stick take the picture then put it back in my bag. We weren't swinging it around or taking panoramic pictures with it by any means. Enjoy!

  10. So you can get the coconut mojito in regular and frozen varieties at Boleros? It sounds sooo good... wonder why they wouldn't make it poolside, Sounds like an amazingly refreshing poolside drink.

Yes! Regular and Frozen! Frozen was the best ;) it was so light and refreshing! We would make it habit to stop by anytime we were on Deck 5 (FOS), and to our fortune we were on the 6th deck so it was always on the way[emoji14]

  11. I tried things at recommendation of bartenders (had the package). I tried multiple times to get my coconut mojito (preferred frozen) at various bars to no avail....always told Boleros was only option. We had an awesome bartender one night up at Olive or Twist who made some killer drinks and had a shot he had made up that was blue (all I can remember) that was Ahhhmazing!! If you find a bartender you are comfortable with they will help you find your cruise drink :D

  12. My husband and I plan to disconnect from technology while on our cruise, we will be sailing FOS out of FLL on 11/26/16 -- He needs to submit a document online at 12:01am on 11/27/16 My question is we are supposed to leave port at 5:30 pm. Is there any chance we would still be able to do it off his phone with data at 12:01 or would we be too far away from the coast at that point? We know we can use the internet cafe and pay for the hour, or whatever. Or pay for a day on the VOOM package, just trying to see what our options are.

    Thank you!

  13. 52 Days and counting!

We leave on FOS - Eastern Caribbean.

    Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

    Labadee

    San Juan

    St. Maarten

    St. Kitts

    Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

    I have several questions:

    1) I saw the BOGO Specialty dinning deal going on right now. But with this being our first cruise, we wanted to do Formal Nights in the MDR, the BOGO requires the reservations on Nights 1 & 2. Will this conflict with the formal nights?

    2) We have purchased the ultimate/premium (whatever the new name is) drink package. Any drinks that we need to try?

    3) I have seen on here that if you have issues with being claustrophobic you can go to the gym/spa area and use the showers there. Is there a specific way to go about this?

We are excited and any other advise for new cruisers would be welcomed!

    Thanks!
