How does the priority boarding work with the Platinum perks? Last cruise I went on out of New York I found the Platinum check-in line and then was giving a general boarding #. After waiting around I finally saw them board folks in wheel chairs/needing assistance and then they called general boarding. Are you supposed to go to a certain section?

Leaving out of Port Canaveral tomorrow and New York again in April so I appreciate your tips!

Just ask they will point you yo the area you should sit in.  You should not be given a number, if you just ask.

I am not trying to bend rules, just wondered if they really cared about the tiny 5 hr energies?   My friend doesnt drink coffee and thats her form of caffine.  would few scattered through my luggage be noticed?

If not allowed, do they sell them on board?

If you can find Jet-Alert it is what I bring along. It has 200 mg of caffeine and works great.  They sell at the Dollar General Store.

  4. Yes NCL will wait.  A lot of companies are now making sure to get you back.  I would take in to account where you are going and do your research as to the safety and reviews on other sites concerning side trips.  We do both, if the time frame to get to the excursion is long we will use NCL to make sure we get back in time.  Most ports have reputable companyies.  Do your home work.....

  5. Everything is going up.  The cost to see Nascar races, football games, Broadway shows, hotel rooms.  Keep in mind as long as people will pay, the prices will climb.  When the economy down turns and attendance drops off and they are not able to fill there ships or stadiums the prices will go down.  There are always ways to find good prices on cruises you just have to plan and do your home work.  For those of you who still enjoy cruising enjoy your next cruise.  For the complainers hang in there there are other ways to enjoy your vacations.

We have a group of 9, including 3 kids (4 and 2).  I made reservations for the complimentary dining rooms for 8 people because it would not allow 9.  NCL said I have to await until I'm on-board to change.  Will this be a challenge?

Also, we have the dining package and the reasonable (early) dining times were not available online, even though I tried ASAP months ago.  Again, I was told that NCL holds back some dining times until we are on-board.  Again, will this be a challenge for us once on-board?  Any ideas to quickly take care of this or other "tricks"?  🙂

    Thanks!!

Get on board as soon as you can.  Then go straight to the area where dinner reservations can be made or changed.  It always seems to be difficult with groups of your size.  Good luck and have written down what you would like for every night dinners so they can work with you.

You can snorkel from the beach but I doubt the ship's excursion just takes you there.  Most snorkeling excursions take you out on a boat to a reef.  Need to read exactly where the ship's excursion goes and check out any reviews.  Also can post about it on the Private Islands thread under Ports of Call.

Just got back off the Breakaway New Years  cruise.  The snorkeling is interesting however not as good as if you went out off the island.  Their underwater garden is difficult to find,  When I did find it was interesting.  There are plenty of fish to see.  If you ahve your own gear bring it along.

We just booked our dinner & show reservations online this past weekend.  We picked the 5:30 dining time & 7:30 showtime.  We are thinking that a smaller specialty dining venue would not take as long as a crowded main dining room & hopefully will be done in plenty of time to get to the show early enough to get a decent seat.

When the 120 day mark comes.  you will be able to see show times and make reservations, Make sure to be online that day.  if you need to change as soon as you get on ship go to the comedy club and you should be able to make changes. Keep in min about 90 min for dinner, if you let your waiter know you are going to a show they will work with you.

Great Stirrup Cay was recently added to our Encore itinerary, and we are wondering if the beverage package will be honored or if there will be additional fees for adult beverages?  Thanks!

Just got back from a New Years cruise on the Breakaway.  Great Stirrup Cay is very enjoyable.  All you drinks are included  on the beverage package.  The fresh grilled burgers are awesome.  When you find your place to sit there are waiters to get you drinks.  Tipping them a couple of dollars is very appreciated.  Have a great trip.  My wife and I will be on the Encore the week of March 8th and looking forward to the island again.

How far out can I pre book dining?  I have the 5 night package.

    Thanks 🙂

120 days is correct.  Make sure to book at 120 days out .  If you need to change the day you get on the ship they will have a area to book or make changes.  They only book about 30% prior to boarding day.  Some of the restaurants have limited tables.  Booking for 2 is normally no problem.  Larger groups can be an issue.

  11. Thank you for the quick reply.  My wife and I just got back from the Breakaway.  Had a great cruise.  By chance do you have the Hotel Director and the F&B Director names?  Hope to see you at the M&G, have notice a sign up for yet.

I normally book directly with the cruise lines, but for my next cruise on NCL I plan to book with a TA.

Final payment is due 12/31, but I will probably book shortly afterwards due to vacation approvals etc.

I plan to book a specialty dining package.  Can I do that through the TA or will I be able to do it directly with the NCL via the app?

    Thanks!

If you book direct and want your TA to handle after you book.  Reservation can be moved to TA

We are in our late 60’s and have booked travel insurance with the cruise line, however we’re thinking about adding some extra emergency medical insurance and medical evacuation. The cruise lines coverage in those areas are a bit low. Any advice on getting this coverage? Thanks for any input.

I would suggest that you look into Alliance insurance. My wife and I are in our mid 60's also. they offer two different plans.  We have not needed to use them but have heard good results from our travel agent about others that have had to make a claim.  Enjoy your cruise

  14. My wife and I just got back from the Breakaway.  We Velvet the show very enjoyable.  Part 80s music and acrobatics.  We found the food to be enjoyable.  Get there early to get a seat up towards the stage for best viewing.  Burn the floor very good, walk out of Rock of ages felt like it was a high school production.  Was told by an officer that the show will be replace when the Breakaway moves to Port Canaveral in November.  Wine lovers is always a nice way to spend a day at sea.  Have a great trip and just have fun.
