That rooster tail in the middle was horrible 4 years ago, are you saying in all this time they haven’t fixed it?  I can scratch Liberty off the ok list.

Graeme, maybe if you tell Julie that you are going to cruise with a, “wink” friend.  Maybe she will reconsider...

Was still there Jan 2018. I will be back on Liberty in February, so I can confirm again. They did dry dock on her in 16 I believe, so sounds like they didn't fix it then.

Wow 4 boards that's awesome living in Australia it costs a fortune to get one over here to get a outlaw deliver is going to be nearly 800 230 of that is postage, I would love to try a different board I liked the look of the ash one I saw on my last cruise but if I got it and didn't like it I would be gutted, when you say unresponsive do you mean to turn or more for when your doing tricks, also does the channels hamper spinning the board is that why no good for tricks?

Yes I have bought several boards and did not like them, so I sold them. I have learned over time what type of boards I like and don't like. I also prefer different types of boards and on different types of waves. To answer your question about responsiveness. Some boards are like an old 1970's cadillac with a lot of play in the wheel, it takes a lot of pressure to get them to respond, where some boards respond at the lightest touch. And yes, channels keep the board wanting to go straight because of how the water flows. This makes it more difficult if you want to spin and do other things on the wave. Not impossible just more difficult.

  3. Some ships require a SetSail for each guest (Anthem is one), but most still don't.

Allure used to do one pass but a few weeks ago, they switched to the same way the Harmony and Quantum ships do it, where you need two printed passes and you get your keys at the room. We found this out this morning at boarding. Makes me think they’ll probably start rolling it out to all the ships. But this is RCI, consistency isn’t their strong point.

  4. Because 1) room service used to be free 2) food on the ship is still free so I can go to the windjammer and get my own stuff and bring it back to the room... which is what I do. But it’s nice when someone does that for you and I’m glad to tip that person- just not give a “service charge” to a service that should be included. Next thing you know we’ll be paying pool attendants a “service charge” to set up our chairs or a “service charge” to ride the elevators.

Royal is allowed to run this business however they want. If you’re not happy about it, take your money somewhere else. It’s a simple as that but you’ll continue to bitch about it and then continue to give Royal your money and the cycle will continue.

  5. Say what you will about Carnival but you’re right. Guy’s is better and it’s free.

There’s some weird fascination on this board to act like Royal is so much better than Carnival, when both lines have things they do better the other. Overall they are pretty similar.

  6. Received an email 2 weeks ago to upgrade from Oceanview balcony to JS for $400 on the Oasis at end of May. For those having experience with receiving the lucky call, how soon before sailing can you expect the call? Would really appreciate a little extra balcony space!

We got the email but never actually got a call for our sailing tomorrow.

  7. Here’s my thoughts:

    Royal:

Nicer ships ( Carnival doesn’t have anything like the promenade)

    Flowrider (reason we cruise Royal)

    Better loyalty program

    Carnival:

    Way better spa

Better food, Royal completely fails at off dining time food.

The clientele is exactly the same between the two cruise lines. You’ll find a ton of people on CC who try to act like there’s a huge difference between the types of people who cruise each line but there’s not. You cruise short cruises during busy times like spring break, you’ll find a bunch of rowdy partiers. You go longer cruises off peak, it’ll be more subdued.
