I'm sailing on Norwegian and I went independent.   The price was the same.  What swayed me was that I was able to do a B2B tour with the same excursion company and combine a bear wildlife viewing with whale watching.    Only this operator offered the two tours back-to-back, and if it were not so, we never would have been able to fit the two tours into the time window we are in port.

    Which company did you use?

NCL doesn't provide any recommendations of which test to use, they just say "Norwegian Cruise Line will assist with applicable expenses related to any mandatory quarantine that are not covered by a guest's travel insurance only if the guest provides proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 72-hours prior to their sail date. Proof of negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 72-hours of sail date must show guest name, date of birth and date the test was taken in order to be eligible." This is the purpose I'm using this test for.

Many airlines are partnering with Emed.com for international travel testing, but you should do your own research to be sure.

We are just starting to consider a Nov 24 Getaway Cruise, we are considering flying into Athens on the 22nd or 23rd. When they say 72hrs prior to sail, I think the ship has a sail time of 6pm so ami understanding correctly the earliest we can have our CoVid test is 6pm the 21st? I think our flight will depart Florida prior to 6pm, so I wonder if we should do one test in Florida, before departure to ensure we are negative, then either do another test where we have a layover or as soon as we get to Athens?

I hope the option to reserve pre-cruise without paying is not eliminated, since the only way to use OBC to pay for an excursion is on board. (Of course, it would be even better if NCL followed other cruise lines, like Celebrity, and allowed you to use OBC pre-cruise.)

I just called and booked our shore excursions for our Baltic Cruise in Sept, my discount showed online, I was told my $50 credit would be applied and when I called to book no payment was required.

  4. Plastic and paper straws can be recycled.

This is just a ridiculously cheap cost cutting move and could backfire by becoming the poster child for NCL nickel and diming.

It is not just a cost cutting measure, a local city is looking at a straw ban as well...they are horrible for the Oceans.

  5. CHes5904 yep she is definitely in a crappy spot.

N747KT you have a right to your opinion, as a military family of 20yrs we are use to playing by the rules so I do get where you are coming from. However in this situation, my D going into a club to socialize with her BF and us which will impact no one. So we will see, if it works out then great if not then I am sure there will be other things they can do on board.

I was considering a cruise the week before she turns 18, I think I will wait until the week after.

  6. So my DH, D, her BF and I will be cruising Spring Break on the Epic. D is 17 but her BF is 23. I know, I know. All I can say is my D is a College JR (lives away and completely self sufficient) and so far from 17 it isn't funny. So I saw Howl at the Moon says over 18 recommended after 11pm so I assume that wont be an issue. What about other 18+ areas? D doesn't drink so that isn't the question, she just wants to be able to dance, etc with her BF.
