  1. Judy,

You do the same when you get your cabin assignment.

Sheffield Lake is a quiet little town, and when we are here (traveling a lot) we like it. We don't get to your area much either, you get too much snow (usually) for us and this summer too much rain for us. However this summer we would REALLY like the rain. We live on the lake shore and it has continually skipped over us, we are in a moderate drought here!

Maybe we will meet in Juneau! Need to check the port schedule.

Assignment came in the last 3 hours (after an upsell this afternoon).

  2. In my opinion the HH is a better room due to location (if not view). Being on the Promenade deck is wonderful for Alaska. Just a few steps (and no stairs) and you are outdoors taking in the views!

Of course, upgrading to a full view D or E on the promenade deck might be worth it!

Showed up between 5PM and 8PM EDT. (It was on the my reservations page and the tags).

One less thing to think about. Printing paperwork.

  3. Just two plus days to go and nothing yet (We leave Saturday for the cruise on Sunday). I am not worried about it, it will work out.

I would be prepared for the last minute.

Now, if I could just get out of the habit of checking every couple of hours, it would be good.

    :)

Just got another email for an upsell. At this time (3 days out), if we don't take it I expect not to have an assignment until we leave.

Probably won't, my SO is of the stand that they have enough of his money at this time. ;-)

  4. Again... nothing this morning... 9 days to go!

Lots of categories now in GTY only, so we'll see!!

  5. Hang in there. A couple of years ago my assignment was done on a Friday morning for a Monday sail. It happened while I was waiting for the car to pick me up as we sailed out of Amsterdam. I had just enough time to print out boarding passes before I left. My TA was beside herself.

I am 5 days from sailing and no cabin number on my luggage tag. I hope to see something by EOD on Friday. If not, I am guessing at the hotel on Saturday or the pier on Sunday.

    Bon Voyage jlz62!!!

Have a great land tour, cruise and a WONDERFUL time!!!

Thanks so much. Really stressing about it now.

  7. Until I leave for the airport.

We choose the northbound in September because of the possibility (remote) of seeing the northern lights, the cost, and the fall colors. I know the weather will probably rainy. We are going to wait until we arrive on the cruise before choosing our excursions, we know what we want, but the weather will dictate which activity we choose (biking down a mountain sounds fun, in the rain not so fun).

I know we will lose daylight, but viewing things in the dark gives a different perspective. One of the most beautiful sites I have seen in my travels was the Grand Canyon at night in the full moon.

I may have a different view of things in 3 weeks.

  8. Aah, eastside. We live in Sheffield Lake and leave 9/11 on the Noordam. No cabin assignment yet here.

We are traveling North (leaving from Vancouver) while you are traveling south. It appears we will pass around Juneau.

I hope you have a wonderful cruise. Please let me know when you get your cabin assignment.

You live about as far west as I live east. Sheffield Lake is a beautiful area. I don't make it out there very often.

  9. Because HAL is going to upsell as much as they can before they give away free upgrades ;). simple math. If someone is willing to pay to upgrade, then they will happily sell the better cabin, rather than give it away. ;)

I assumed it would be at least a few more days since we received the email about upgrading to a new level on Monday.

  10. Are you in the Pacific time zone? It seems to me that a half-dozen or so of ours have showed up between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm Eastern, or around close-of-business in Seattle. Could be my imagination, though! ;)

We are near Cleveland, Ohio, so EDT.

I will look first thing in the morning and not worry the rest of the day.

  11. I am still waiting for assignment for a cruise that departs this Sunday! Hopefully a cabin assignment is made before I fly out. I'm coming from Florida and taking a cruise on the Zaandam out of Seward.

I've done guarantees before and never had them come this close to departure date. Contacted cruise line today and they said they assign within 7 days. Not sure why it is taking so long this time.

You will be leaving the ship when we will be embarking. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I don't have a cabin assignment yet.

This is our first cruise on HAL and our first cruise together. I have only done one other cruise before and it was a group with our cabin assignment when we booked.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your trip.

  12. Once you are about 2 weeks out, be a true HAL GUAR pax and start checking at least 4 times a day. Once you are 10 days out, better up that to 6 times a day, especially late afternoon.

Good luck and let us know!

OK. So I don't feel too bad logging in 4 or 5 times a day and 'printing' my boarding pass.

I think I will fall over when I finally see a cabin number.

  13. Not complaining... We are 11 days out and haven't received our assignment.

We did get an email yesterday offering an upsell to ocean view for $99pp or Suite at $399pp.

I am not worried, just excited. I can't wait to see what we will get.

I won't be worried until we get on the plane the day before.

  14. Fairbanks is our last stop in Alaska. Our tour ends Thursday morning and our flight leaves late afternoon (5:45pm). We will have most of the day to do some things on our own.

Is it worth it to rent a car or just use a cab or car service for the day? Transfers to the Airport are including in the cruisetour.

We will be staying at the Westmark and am looking at visiting the UA Museum.

    Thanks for any comments.
