  1. Thanks, all, for your responses. As I said, we are first time cruisers, and was questioning the advice of a family member who cruises often. I am very much looking forward to our cruise at the end of this month. I have several family members who work in the service industry as servers and bartenders on land and have told me countless stories of people who don't tip. Because of this, I like to give servers a good tip. I'm certainly not trying to "bribe", insult anyone, or imply that I want a "generous pour" that could cost someone their job. That's not how I roll. Thanks for your input and advice!

  2. First time cruiser here. I have prepaid the gratuities for our upcoming cruise on Anthem of the Seas. I've been told by family members who have cruised that we should consider giving the bartenders a generous tip at the beginning of the cruise, so they give us extra good service. I think that's a good idea, but what amount is considered a "good" tip? Thank you!

  3. Hello and thank you in advance for answering my questions!

My husband, myself, and our 19 & 20 year old sons will be sailing on the Anthem of the Seas at the end of the month. The hubby and I went on an NCL cruise for our honeymoon, 24 years ago. I'm sure a lot has changed since then. I spent the better part of the honeymoon trying to get over my sea-sickness...ugh! I'm concerned about getting sea sick again, although my TA assures me that it's unlikely that I will feel the Anthem moving. Any tips or suggestions on how to avoid sea-sickness would be much appreciated!

I'm told we should prepay our gratuities, which I plan to do. I'm assuming the prepaid gratuities do not include tips for the bartenders or room service attendants. What is an acceptable amount to tip them?

I appreciate any and all suggestions!

    Anne
