What about smoking area on the Dawn?

Starboard side by the pool (deck 12).  The whole starboard side on deck 7.  The casino and the cigar lounge (deck 6).  The Dawn is one of the most smoker considerate ships.

I'm a former smoker (almost 6 months) after the worse ship for smokers I've ever been on, Carnival Paradise.  I was given a JUUL for Christmas from my husband.  I was only intending to use it during airport confinements.  I was so fed up after the 1st day on the Paradise that I started ducking into the nearest convenient bathroom to use the JUUL.  Also in the stateroom.  There is no odor.  Although I was pretty ticked off at the time, this is the best thing that's ever happened!  It's total freedom!  No more panic on "where can I smoke".  You'd be surprised how easy it is to get away with using it discretely.  I've even done it on airplanes.

Oh, and I will NEVER be one of those "former smokers" who looks down their noses at current smokers.  After smoking for 40 plus years, my heart is still with you all!

I'm not a fan of FTTF, but it is an individual decision.  Only you can decide if boarding a ship an hour or so earlier than others is worth it.  As far as luggage, if you have a lot, let the porters handle it.  The Paradise is a small ship, so it doesn't have the high guest numbers that the Dream or Vista classes have.

I'm sailing the Paradise 1/24/19 and have purchased the FTTF, yet we've been given and 1-1:30 boarding appointment time.  Should that not be the case?  First Carnival cruise.  Many previous on NCL & RCCL so do not know what to expect compared to those.

  3. Thank you for the updated information! Anyone else have information that I can add to the spreadsheet. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IwhHuxFGVf8GRxIe1V30Bj0elmkPLRuQUxOpmI8LiFE/edit?usp=sharing

A cruise ship with a passenger capacity over 4000 and only one designated outdoor smoking area is BEGGING for "balcony" smokers along with the associated fire hazards. I don't know what genius made that decision ;p

Thank you SO MUCH for creating this spread sheet! I can confirm your information on the Dawn. Smoking on Deck 12/Pool allowed on Port side. Breakaway looks right but it's been a few years since I was on her. Will be on Pearl the first week of October and I'm greatful for your information!

  4. Is it chilled? I've had this before and couldn't use it for a day or so later because it wasn't cold. Would be nice to have it cold when we got to the room so we could drink it right away with the strawberries during the sail away!!

It used to be but since they expanded it to other levels it seems they no longer do that. At least on our June 2017 we just found it warm, sitting on the table.

  5. I am on the November 3 cruise out of Boston and await info I see on line

I also got a refund credit on Jet blue on my flight back to Boston as seats have opened up and a price drop .

they will make changes no charge up till Nov 1. 2017

We're on this sailing too. I'm assuming you did not cancel your flight but got a credit because of the price drop?

  6. Yes, he was on our Labor Day cruise last year and it's good to know he'll be on our 6/30 sailing. We have our granddaughters with us in a two bedrooom suite. In fact it is an extended family vacation. Can't wait.

We have our 14 year old grandson. How old are your granddaughters? Are you part of the roll call for this cruise?

  7. Will Roel return to the Dawn as concierge? I know Leah is on the current sailings. I'm sailing on 6/30.

We had Roel last August and thought he was great! We are also on the 6/30 sailing. Glad to find out he will be on board, although we aren't in a suite this time :(

  8. I just got off the phone with NCL excursion line. They said booking on-line is not a problem and that I will see the credit added to my onboard account after the excursion. And, if I do not have expenses that take the $50 credit, a refund check will be mailed to me as I have already paid for the excursion up front. Whew...good to know.

  9. Here's how I work it with use of the cruise next certs. Book 4 cruises onboard using the Cruise Next program and get $500 OBC. Doesn't matter as you are allowed one change without penalty. When you get back transfer them to a TA to get more OBC from your TA or other goodies such as free gratuities etc,. I have been doing this when booking Suites or the Haven and wind up with almost $1000 OBC every time I cruise and use that to buy more OBC , cameras, Jewelry and watches or free shore excursions and cabanas or for gambling in the casino. Just using their OBC to get me more freebies. Haven''t walked of the ship with a bill on my last 3 cruises.

Do you actually Book the 4 cruises, or just buying the 4 cruise next certificates?

  10. Look at the Flynn Terminal website, it appears that folks are being directed to an open lot on Kennedy Ave with a shuttle to the cruise terminal. We also parked in the garage or the C-1 lot on Terminal St. really close to the Dawn, but things may be changing.

Hummm, we always used the garage too. We are going on 6/30. Guess we'll find out if they prohibit us from parking there.
