  1. I think it depends on your age. We are in our 60s and long time Celebrity cruisers. Tried Virgin this past winter and didn’t care for it at all. The ship’s design is very contemporary which we did not find to be comfortable in terms of public seating as well as the furniture in our cabin. You must wear a wristband at all times and the software required to make reservations for shows and activities

was not reliable. The food was wonderful but navigating the reservation system for the restaurants was frustrating. We found the evening entertainment to be repetitive over the course of 7 days. At the risk of turning some people off I have to be honest and say I wasn’t happy that (most) of the public restrooms were gender neutral. Just not our cup of tea.

  2. We have sailed on Celebrity many times and have just completed a trip on the Silhouette in their "Retreat" class cabin. The food in their dining room (Luminae) was outstanding. It was truly fine dining. We never ate in the MDR but did frequent their buffet for breakfast and found it to be very good though very crowded. I have to take exception to Viking ocean cruises being labeled as premium. We sailed on one just before Covid and found nothing that was any better than the usual mass market ships. It was truly disappointing and was the only ship we have ever experienced a Norovirus outbreak.

  3. Looking for recommendations for a 3-night stay pre-cruise in Puerto Rico in February. It's been many years since we've sailed out of San Juan and I remember feeling that many of the hotels were pretty worn down. Has anyone stayed there recently and can you recommend any place? Thanks!

  4. Covid is here to stay. Masked, unmasked, vaccinated or not people get infected. Just wondering - if you didn’t stop cruising because of the flu or Norovirus or the common cold or Montezuma’s Revenge or food poisoning why stop now? We’ve been on 30+ cruises. Some we have been unfortunate enough to fall ill but on most we’ve been fine. I look at it as a numbers game. I can stay home and get sick from my grandkids but I’d rather continue to travel while we’re still able. Of course if you have underlying conditions that’s a different situation.

  5. I asked 3 simple questions. Only one person had the decency to provide a helpful answer (the eMed test which if anyone had done any checking would know the availability of those tests all expire 12/1 which does me no good). All others responding chose to bash me for daring to question why a FULLY VACCINATED person should be subjected to a 48 hour negative test. Thanks for nothing.

  6. We are sailing on December 5th on the Oasis. I'm concerned about Royal's 48 hour Covid test requirement. We're arriving in Miami Friday for a Sunday sailing. If I understand correctly that means we have to find a testing site in Miami on Friday. Has anyone encountered this situation? I also understand there is LIMITED testing at the port. Has anyone had luck getting their test at the port? Also, I know there are 2 testing sites at Miami airport. Has anyone used them?  We are fully vaccinated and I feel the 48 hour requirement is over the top for vaccinated passengers. Royal are you listening?

    Cabin # - 7309

    Class – Sunset Veranda

Starboard or Port Side -Aft, Portside adjacent to Sky Suite

    Bed near?(balcony or bath) –bath

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – quiet

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstructions. Due to the tiered arrangement of aft balconies, you are fairly visible to those above you. There is minimal overhang for privacy.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal (ie. small)

    Was wind a problem? Nope

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? There was some soot. Not a whole lot but, enough to notice. Don't wear white!

Any specific problems with this cabin? There is a post about eight inches away from the door handle (outside). Took a few days to stop running into it when heading to the martini bar!

Any other comments? A long walk to the nearest elevators.
