  1. Also, they will find nice weather to sail in for port days, and if necessary, change itinerary. Not only is it too early to tell, weather forecasts change. Every day the weather forecast will be "89 degrees scattered thunder showers", which means 10 minutes of rain occasionally. If it rains more, you will still find plenty to do.

Unless the storm will be at embarkation or debarkation ports, there is someplace that is not rainy. Remember, they do not want unhappy passengers, and they do not want to risk their billion dollar ship.youll have fun if you are flexible and roll with it.

Thanks I will make sure I enjoy my vacation!

  2. If your on the Allure September 11 then you are sailing the eastern route. Hermine is all but done and is up by New York now. The only other system is not expected to develop into a cyclone. Less than 10% chance. It will have rain and wind but nothing to worry about.

  3. I'm not sure this far out ahead you can tell. I sailed last week on the Oasis on 8/27, and all reports were bad, from Invest 99 to Gaston. Before we got on, someone had even posted that our itinerary was already reversed. We prepared ourselves for rain in ports...

Nope. A few moments of rain the evening we sailed (five minutes of drizzles) and a few on the last sea day (10 minutes) and then nothing but beautiful weather.

You made me feel much better :)

  4. I will be sailing with Allure on Sept 11 for Western Caribbean. Do you guys think it will affect my cruise? I check the weather there will be 60% of rain when I arrive to different ports. I don't think I am going to have much fun in rains.

  5. Sometimes it's not a drop off fee, but an airport fee. I've been able to save money in the past by picking up and dropping at two different neighborhood locations rather than using an airport location as a pick up or drop off.

I forgot to mention that if I pick/return at the airport the rate would also be around $40. That's why I am thinking pick/return at the airport when we come back from our cruise.

  6. when did they start charging a drop fee? I use Budget every trip to FLL, pick up at airport and drop off near the pier and have never been charged a drop off fee? I realize you are doing the opposite of me but doesn't seem right that they'd charge in one direction and not the other.

    Anything is possible though.

I believe they do. I checked with Budget as well. If I pick up/drop off at the port location the rate would be around $40. When I pick up and return it to the airport the rate goes up to $70.

  7. Need to rent a car at port Everglades after my sailing with Allure of the Sea. I need to rent at the port and return it at the airport. There are some rental car companies near the port, such as Budget, however they charge drop off fee if I return it at the airport. Maybe I should get my rental car from the airport and return it there. Is there any rental car company at the airport provide shuttle to/from port ?

  8. If you're thinking of doing a couples massage, I would rather have it done on the ship rather than on Lababee. It tends to get very warm in the cabana where the spa is set up on the island. The overhead fans in the cabanas don't always work. Happy Sailing!

Only for my wife. It will be on the ship but too many different massages to choose from, not sure which one is good.

  9. I95 sucks. Turnpike is passable.

Look up watertaxi.com way better than Everglades. Hop on / hop off service with narrated tour around the mansions and yachts of Ft.Lauderdale and stops at all the nice bars and restaurants. Inexpensive. Driving around Florida sucks.

Today it took me an Hour 20 to get from I595 and I95 (port) to Boynton Beach Blvd, a distance of 30 miles, and that was well before rush hour. If I was going south to Miami it probably would have been worse.

How do I get to the airport after the water taxi? Just get a taxi to take us to the airport?

  10. If you decide to rent a car on FLL be sure to buy the toll road pass about $10 even if you don't use it. Some of the toll roads do not accept cash, only passes. If you do not buy this on a rental car the toll roads scan the license plate of the car . Then later you get a penalty fee of around $200, some people get in the mail a month later, some get at the car return.

Are there lots toll roads in the area?

  11. We will be sailing with Allure of the Sea in Sept at Ft. Lauderdale. On the last day our flight would not leave until 7pm, therefore, we have all day to kill.

Need to find a way to pass the time between disembarkation and our flight time. Thinking about doing the Land and Sea excursion from RCI but getting mixing reviews. Had anyone done it before can provide some feedbacks or any recommendations?

    Many thanks

  12. OP is looking to self-cancel on the Princess website. So you can be 99.9% sure he self-booked there.

ETA: well on second though they might have booked through a TA that charges a cancellation fee and are hoping to circumvent it by cancelling direct. (The .01% exception :D)

I booked it myself. I booked a mini-suite and later found out mini-suite is not really a suite. It doesn't come with perks as a suite but just a bigger space with a tub. I would just book a balcony and use the extra $700 for something else.
