  1. I am looking a booking a cabin near the foward elevators on this class ship and wanted to know if anyone has any experience with a room near them.  I am specifically looking at 12190.  I want to know if the rooms are far enough away to not have much noise from people waiting for the elevators.

We are going to Nassau, but not getting off (someone will get off to present the manifest and then get back on) and we sail away to nowhere. Even non-revenue cruises to nowhere have to stop at a foreign port now.

does that mean you will be there on the 30th?

Actually, my 1st cruise is Nov 25th, 1 week from today. The 21st cruise is the employee shakedown with CEO's and the next 2 days are labeled as "training" per Peter. This is what I have pieced together for a schedule (she may arrive at 0800 tomorrow though):

I will be onboard Nov 25 -29 (first two non-revenue Press and Trade cruises) and then Dec 1-4 for the first revenue cruise. I did see that it is supposed to be sunny and 82 on Sunday!!

We are in an IV for the first two nights so will report back on the IVs and MDRs, a portside midship S1 the second two nights and an aft S1 on the 3 day cruise at the end so will have access to the Retreat life. On the Press and Trade cruises there should be some open cabins/suites to view so that would be a plus. I have a list of questions that have been asked on CC (and my own) and will do my best to find answers.

I will be posting on here frequently throughout those 7 days/nights - I have free Wi-Fi for all cruises (hope it works!).  My goal for this trifecta of mini cruises is to explore, interview, measure, photograph, experience and taste my way through the whole ship. :classic_biggrin:

I am so excited, but panicking a bit about getting ready!!

do you know where the press/trade cruises are headed? will it be nassau(crosses fingers)? would be awesome to catch a glimpse of the ship I am sailing in June while on the symphony next week.

If we gave our laundry to our attendant fairly early, say by 9:00 AM it was back that evening. I brought 3 golf shirts 2 t shirts and 3 pairs of shirts and made it all week. We loved our last Star Class trip on Allure and will probably give it a shot on Symphony if prices come down to ridiculous from completely insane. We did have a great reception for our cabin crawl group, probably 50 people or so total with I think three hot and three cold appetizers plus beer, wine and soft drinks and while we did get a discount it ran about $1,000 plus tips to the staff. It was a lot of fun and well worth it.

this is my first star class.  we got it as soon as symphony went on sale for a bargin compared to what they are now.  thanks for the laundry info.  it will help with my packing.  3 shorts 3 tshirts some smart casual and formal and swimsuits

So, just for giggles (and to talk myself into upgrading from a Sky to a Star class suite) -- I ran the numbers on the freebies included above-and-beyond the Sky class perks. Numbers below assume a 7 day cruise. It looks like the "added value" is just under $1400. Am I missing any other hard ($) discounts?

    One time charges:

    Ultimate Dining Package $168.00

    Chef's Table $95.00

    Thermal Suite Access $99.00

    Prohibition Event $35.00

    Ship Tour $199.00

    Per Day Charges:

    VROOM $16.00/day $112.00

    Deluxe Beverage Package $48.00/day $336.00

    Gratuities $18.00/day $126.00

    Per Use Charges:

    Laundry Service $52.00/use 3x $156.00 1 bag, same day 50% surcharge

Dry Cleaning $23.00/use 2x $46.00 1 suit or dress, same day 50% surcharge

how does laundry work and how quick is it?  sameday/next day or longer? I am trying to pack and want to pack light

WOW bands are complimentary for:  cruisers in JS or above & Pinnacle Club C&A members

    Anyone else  must buy one.

USUALLY you can take an old one and have it reprogrammed or replaced on another cruise.

The cost is $4.95 per band.

thanks for the information.  this will be my first cruise on a ship that has them and also first star class so I am new to it.

Room service is also included and you can have the dining room or specialty restaurant meals delivered as well.

I haven't seen a comprehensive list, but through reading trip reports I've seen a variety of things that weren't directly listed on the website that ended up being included and then on other trip reports people reported they got charged (seafood tower in Chops, extra charge pastries from the coffee shop, etc.)

Some things we took advantage of on Anthem that was no charge because of Star Class:

    - Took advantage of the specialty dining and often swung by Izumi and got sushi to go.

    - Had room service deliver snacks to host a cabin crawl.

    - Daily drink cart came around to the in the afternoon and mixed up cocktails on the spot.

    - Bridge tour and behind-the-scenes theater production tour.  (I believe this is offered to C&A levels and all suites at no charge as well).

You can pretty much ask anything of your Genie and they can figure out how to handle the request and will let you know if there's a charge.  Our Genie escorted us on/off the ship and brought us to the front of the lines for our tender port.  He arranged our dining and entertainment schedules and switched things around for us if we needed to make changes.  He visited us each evening to go over the next day's schedule so we knew what to expect.  We had reserved seats for the theater shows and he walked us to our seats each time.  It's really an excellent experience that spoils you for future cruises without the Genie service!

** EDIT:  @jeeppartsman I will let you know if Symphony has anything additional or unexpected that you should make sure to take advantage of.  I will be getting off the day you get on!

    what room are you in?

Here is a baseline.  Some ships have added extras, such as Starbucks Delivery to your room, engine control room tours, etc.

You can pretty much have anything with exception of food from Starbucks, and Shop items.  Ben and Jerry's is included.

Each time I sailed, I was told by the genie I could use the thermal spa one day and she would take the charge off.  We found a bartender that made his own specialty drink called Tiramisu Martini.  We ordered a pitcher the late the last night in the Suite Lounge to share with our friends, that the genie delivered.

that drink sounds amazing!!! which ship were you on?

  9. But $2150/month for 10months a year (isn’t that roughly the contract time?) is not a lot of money...even if they make $1000/week in tips, that amounts to just $60k/year salary...

New college hires make more than that where I work!

So hopefully these highly trained butlers are making closer to $2000/week in tips that they get to keep!

I am curious as to where you work that college hires make that kind of money?

  10. I’ll take this question as we just left the 9001 suite an hour ago! Window at the front of balcony goes half way up so you do get fresh air (and rain!) out there. There are two doors to balcony so you can open those to get some fresh air in cabin.

Was there much movement in your cabin?
