Britannia to the Fjords in April. Sailed Saturday and formal nights were the Sunday and Thursday.

A month or so ago we were on B deck and boarded at 13.30 Lido was definitely before us.

Southampton 75 - I live in Winchester and agree wholeheartedly with what you say. I certainly recognise the scenarios you describe.

Returning from Norway about a month ago on Britannia they were selling Golden Virginia tobacco at £6.40 a packet. This was a saving of over £11 a packet on UK prices.

Long time lurker but joined today to answer this question. I am born and bred in Southampton but now live 8 miles from Southampton. When I cruise I always book a hotel for the night before the cruise even though I live so close. Traffic can really be horrendous on some days especially when there are more than three ships in and there is some attraction going on in town like the boat show, football or pop concert on the common. Please don't be tempted to visit too far out of town as one accident on the M27 or M3 can cause the city to become blocked with traffic. I have known the road to the docks to become so bad that it's taken over three hours to do three miles.

I hasten to add that the vast majority of days are fine but being local I would never stray too far from the town centre on the day of embarkation just in case it's 'one of those days'

Plenty to do in Southampton town centre especially the museums and old town areas all within half a mile from the terminals.
