  1. Our wedding was aboard the Carnival Splendor last week, so I thought I'd give you all a quick recap. I could not be happier with how the wedding turned out. Dewi, our wedding coordinator from Carnival aboard the ship, was absolutely amazing. We chose to do the one hour reception with hor d'oeuvres and added the DJ. The food was phenomenal. In hindsight, I wish I had asked Dewi or someone from my family to make up a plate to take back to my room because I didn't have a lot of time to eat because I was mingling with guests (we had 39 people total), dancing and taking photos. The time passes quickly, so don't fill it with speeches, bouquet tosses, etc. unless they're really important to you. We gave a thank you speech later that night at dinner. Our photographer was great and even went down to the beach with us after the wedding to take more photos. I posted a few so you could see some ideas of what they take. We negotiated to get a package of photos that we liked and were given the digital rights to everything we purchased. I plan to make an album on my own.

We purchased the social media internet package so that we could broadcast the wedding live on Facebook for our family who couldn't come. It worked pretty well, but the quality wasn't great so it did skip out and get fuzzy at times. I loved that everyone could see it as it was happening though. However, if you want a clear, crisp video of the ceremony, definitely have someone recording it separately.

I wouldn't change a minute of our wedding, and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a destination wedding. Our cruise hit some major snags (the Splendor broke down on the third day and had to turn around for Miami, cancelling half of our ports), but the wedding day itself was phenomenal.

Oh, one side note. If you plan to have a lot of your guests sailing with you, make sure you set aside some time just for you and your new husband. My husband and I booked the chef's table for the night after the wedding (a 3.5 hour long gourmet dining experience). It was fantastic! And it gave us some time separate from our guests, so we could celebrate on our own too.

  2. Only 20 days until our wedding day aboard the Carnival Splendor! We received confirmation today of our wedding times. Our ceremony will be at 11:30 with the reception at noon. I'm excited that is earlier in the day because now we will have time to take pictures down on the beach before the ship leaves Grand Turk.

Sent from my SM-G900V using Forums mobile app

  3. I just found out about it this weekend when one of my guests tools me about their conversion. She said the TA told her it was the best she could do. I plan to contact her tomorrow but wanted to do some research beforehand

  4. My fiance and I are getting married on Carnival Splendor in February and have about 40 people sailing with us. We're booked through a TA and friends and family are calling them directly to book in our group. I was surprised when they were told their rooms would be more expensive than what was listed on Carnival's site for the same room? Is this normal? I want to make sure my family is getting a good deal, and I thought we would be getting a better rate by booking as a group.

  5. Talked to our travel agent today and because we booked as a group we get to pick a gift for in each room for our guests (varies per trip). We decided to pick a $50 on board credit and a bottle of champagne and chocolates for each room. They'll be a great addition to the little welcome bags we're putting in each room and it didn't cost us anything extra! If you have a group traveling with you, definitely check into this.

  6. I think keeping in mind all of the other inclusions now also helps. It's no longer JUST about alcohol.

This is what convinced me. We are getting married on the Carnival Splendor in February. It will be my future-hubby's first cruise and we decided to budget the cheers program. Not only will we get to celebrate worth all of our family and try new drinks we would have skipped, but we will definitely take advantage of the nonalcoholic drinks. My hubby is from Italy and loves his espresso (we're talking 12 cups a day), and he doesn't like to drink tap water, even at home. Now he can have the large bottled waters and San Pelligrino that he loves without worrying. And I can have cappuccino on my balcony for breakfast 😉 And we can still enjoy different drinks and try new things!

  7. I'm so excited I came across this website. I have cruised 3 times so far, and will be getting married on my 4th cruise on May 5th, 2017 on Carnival Inspiration.

I booked the DJ, so does this mean my reception will be in the club? I'm so curious to know where my ceremony and reception will be. It's not like me (the control freak) to be ok with being in the dark about my wedding location. lol

Yes, I believe it will be. I also booked the DJ for my carnival wedding in Feb and they told me my reception would definitely be in the club

  8. I'm sorry I need to learn how to quote two people in one message, until then bare with me.

Nicky, your passport invites are super cute. I will def get in touch with your friend and see what we can come up with. I'm a huge etsy lover.

    Thank you

    Crystal

Hi Crystal. Have fun planning your wedding!

  9. There are actually a total of 4 menus. You can pick and choose and mix and match, the only criteria is that you get 6 hot and 5 cold or 5 hot and 6 cold. I know that doesn't answer you question but it does give you more options.

If you send me your email I'll be happy to send copies of the alternate menus.

Oooh, I'd love a copy of the menus. My FH is a total foodie; extra options will make his day. My address is nickayf321@gmail.com

  10. Hi stingraysfan and dodgingraindrops (and the rest of the 2018 brides)! I love seeing 2018 brides because that means our 2017 weddings are getting closer! My best friend has an etsy shop and she designed my Passport/boarding pass invitations. I don't think she has them listed in her shop, but if you send her a msg through Etsy, she might be willing to do a special order for you. She does amazing work! Her shop is https://www.etsy.com/shop/PrettilyPrintable I payed the proofs of my invites below

  11. I'm keeping things very simple. Not bringing much extra except for sand ceremony jar/sand and if I bring my own flowers. Perhaps gift bags for guests or do room delivery from onboard gift shop. I'm doing Grand Turk too Nickaf. Can you show your finished bouquet when done? What other options did you choose there?

Yes, I definitely will post pictures of it! We are getting married on Carnival Splendor while docked at Grand Turk. Our reception will be in the nightclub because we requested the dj. We decided on the hour long Time to Celebrate with the hor deourvs and open bar, not the luncheon. Since it's the second day of the cruise, we have the remaining 5 days to continue celebrating. I didn't pick any extra decorations or ceremonies; we wanted to keep it simple so we have time to spend with family and friends.

  12. Hi Carnival brides, my cousin cruises all the time and convinced me to open a Carnival Mastercard. Normally I am very anti-credit cards but I looked into it. You get 2 points for every dollar spent on Carnival, and that includes booking your room and wedding package. You get 1 point per dollar on all other purchases, and there is an entire list of online stores (like Macys, Walmart and JCPenney) where you get extra points when you shop online Carnival was even nice enough to refund my wedding package (purchased before I had the card) and rerun it so I got the points. I already have a $200 room credit. We plan to use our room credit towards our photo purchase, especially because everyone recommend budgeting extra for the amazing photos. Just a tip for anyone who hasn't started purchasing everything yet

  13. We are booked on Carnival Splendor sailing May 7, 2016 and are having our ceremony on the beach in Grand Turk May 9th! All our save the dates went out and payments have been made. It feels like all there is left to do is wait.

@SUorange86, congratulayions on your wedding! We're booked for our wedding 2/26/17 on the Splendor and getting married at Grand Turk. Any advice for us?

  14. Awesome, thanks! I'm definitely wearing traditional but my dream dress is super puffy..lol.. I guess I'll go for it and enjoy my day! Lol

Absolutely! It's your day; make it exactly how you want!

I've been reading through the 2015 and 2016 thread and keep thinking the same thing. Everyone I read about seemed to bring on lots of decorations and add ons. Is anyone else planning to keep it simple? We're going to make up little gift bags for the staterooms and give each room a bottle of wine, and I'm making my own wedding bouquet since we have to use silk flowers in Grand Turk anyway. I crochet, so I'm mixing flowers I made in with pretty silk and lace flowers. But other than that, I'm not planning on doing or bringing anything extra. We have about 40 guests coming, but I'm enjoying keeping it simple. To me, the ship and the sea ARE our decorations 😄 Anyone else planning something similar, or am I just being a lazy bride?
