  1. Happy (belated) anniversary to Andy.

I've met him a few times on ships and at a junket in NYC when they re-branded the Haven by Norwegian with Kevin Sheehan. If Andy goes, NCL will never be the same. There's very few who have put more into the company than Andy. Klaus comes to mind and Camille is always there for her agent side of the house. The true workhorses of NCL!

I'm another NCL cruiser who has been alienated by FDR. I've been dabbling in other cruise lines this year because the NCL I knew and loved has been tinkered with to the point where loyalty means nothing or next to now.

As a fairly new cruiser (1 with Carnival, 1 with Norwegian, and 1 upcoming with Norwegian) What are the negative changes between the past and the present Norwegian cruise line.

  2. I was on the Epic during spring break last year. It definitely had crowds around the bars and pool but I expected this. I certainly never waited 25 min for a drink. I had the UBP and made great use of it. I just had to walk my bottom up to a bar and was always served promptly and courteously. We ate mainly in the specialty restaurants as well as the buffet and I have no complaints. Was it 5 star food? Nope, but again I had no expectation of it being that. Did the room layout or elevator placements bother us, not at all. in fact I really don't understand what all of the fuss is about. We had an aft facing balcony and enjoyed it very much. There was a lot of drinking college kids but with the exception of one idiot they behaved like young dumb drunk college kids behave.

Attitude is everything. If you go looking to find fault and a bad time your going to find just that. I went looking for a fun time and that's exactly what I found.

  3. I don't really care about tablecloths but last year we cruised on the Ecstasy.and I have to complain that I was disappointed with the MDR dinner. Both the service and the food. Dinner took a little over two hours for what I can describe best as airplane food and the service was very slow. Water glasses hadn't been refilled until nearly the desert course and only after much complaining. The staff seemed very overwhelmed. This wasn't only my observation. The whole table (8 people not cruising as a group) had the same opinion. Later in the cruise while eating in the buffet we overheard various other people making the same observation with the term "airplane quality" being the common term.

Now I'm new to cruising so I accept that my expectation was skewed. I believed what I was told by experienced cruisers as to how lavish the food was but really the food was disappointing. Did this in any way ruin my vacation? Absolutely not.But for those posters that complain about the complainers, As consumers we need to make our voices heard when a product that we paid for leaves us disappointed. Internet forums such as CC and social media seems to be the new norm for that outlet.

  4. If a personal ad titled "single happy-go-lucky female age 25" but when you arrived for the date and it was a "married grumpy man in his 70s"..... or you receive an email with subject line "prescription savings" but it included critical attachments for your early retirement ..... bet the title would be important (these are just a fun example)

My point being..... I would be very interested in the H4 suite topic but never would've read the thread because I don't care about room service.... SO a title is equally important to the content of the thread.

Maybe everyone here reads every single post regardless of the title but when I go to the library I look at the title of the book and don't start at the "A's" opening every book to find "War of the Worlds"...

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and we are all right if that's how we see things and it's not ruining my day when someone's differs from mine..... but no one seems to address Moby's unnecessary aggressive post because someone gave more information than the OP expected.... do you agree with that?

    Good point.

  5. Did I say that parents should not be responsible? I simply suggested the poster may be more comfortable in an area that did not allow children. Carnival is a family cruise line. Kids come with that, like it or not.

Sorry, kids may come with that but poop in the pool/hot tub shouldn't. Not everyone else should have to placate those that don't follow the rules.

  6. Your hot tub comment has a much higher chance of contamination of the drunk who has been in there for hours than a child. In our 34 Carnival cruises, I have seen 4 pools closed, one from a small child. If you have strong feelings, Serenity might be a better bet for you...

So instead of enforcing the rule of no un potty trained children in the pool/hot tub, those that choose to follow the rules should then move somewhere else? Sorry my vote is for parents to be responsible.

  7. Out of curiosity... why is it childish? It happens every day/month here in the United States, and I do not see people going to bat for it. It's something like this "If my employer/site/department/team as a whole does not meet certain service standards, it does not matter that I did 150% of what was expected of me, the entire team does not get a bonus."

Sorry, I think removing the gratuity for sub par service should be the norm. If I had subpar service at home at a restaurant..do you really thing I would still tip 20%? Nope.. my money is not handed to me, I work my butt off for it, and so should everyone else.

I agree. We save our vacation time and our money so that my family and I can take what is in my opinion a higher end vacation. Lets face it, this is very expensive. Why should we except sub par service with a smile and a "How's your day going"? Withholding a certain percentage of the overall tip is reasonable with a complaint to GS about the specifics. Again, my opinion.
