  1. The non-refundable deposit is an option that started July 1. They still have the traditional $250 deposit and no change fee for North American bookings as well. From what I've seen, it's a slightly lower price for non-refundable.

I'm already booked in an inside at 200% supplement, and the studios were only $100 less when I booked so I passed on it. I've emailed my TA, but this was too good not to share. If it's gone, I'll enjoy my space and double Crown and Anchor points.

I did this same cruise (slightly different itinerary) last Thanksgiving and it was a very nice cruise.

I got 1 Dec 2018 booked- $560.60 total w/25 OBC; website would not take CC payment so I had to call to get it booked. Figured with the $25 on board credit and price diff for a refundable booking I would only loose $19 if I have to change the cruise. 1 studio left for 1 Dec date; Price also available for 8 Dec 2018. Thanks again!

Ahh, okay; thanks for the info. I can't make the one over Thanksgiving but I think the Dec 1 cruise is doable. Been a while since I've seen a solo RCCL cruise deal this good. Good luck on getting the studio cabin booked!

  3. Lots of notice on this one, BUT the deposit is non-refundable and it's $100 to make a change or change to another cruise.

Wow, great price but is this nonrefundable deposit/change fee option a relatively new feature of RCCL cruises? It's been a while since I've checked on a RCCL cruise. I also saw the same price for the Jewel 1 Dec 2018 departure. I've been jonesing for a cruise; gotta give these some thought. Thanks for posting!

  4. I am going to try and answer about the cruise next deposits first.

CND can only be bought onboard for this deal.

I am going to shorten them to CND for this post.

it used to be [and they can change it at any time]

that you bought one CND for 250 and they gave you an instant OBC [onboard credit] of 100.

    about 6 months ago...they started a promo.

if you buy 2 CND for 500 you get back a 250 OBC.

this OBC can be used for Tips and anything else.

    including cigs and liquor.

along with this new promo NCL lets you use 2 CND per cabin for a limited time that they recently have been extending.

the last time I looked it was that you feet had to be onboard a boat by 4/30 2016.

    They may extend this.[update..just checked extended to 8/31 2016!!!}

    https://www.ncl.com/cruisenext

now, if you are a last minute cruiser close to a port this means that you can cruise very cheaply...especially if you want an inside as i find many deals for insides that would be fully covered by a 500 CND.

you should always have 2 of these ready if you are a last minute solo cruiser.

they will work for insides...but only work on cruises 6 days or longer.

ALSO...if you do not have your first 2 CND...do you know anyone who is cruising ncl?

they can buy it for you.

They are transferable.[tell em you will buy em a few drinks or something for their time]

Thanks for the explanation; I wasn't aware of these feature for NCL!

  5. I am finding more and more that Norwegian is offering many great deals for solos. Last night I found an Alaska cruise for 2017 at $799 for a solo oceanview, 7 days from Seward (Anchorage) to Vancouver. The oceanview is $100 cheaper than the inside. Total airfare from Florida would add $500. I am seriously considering this, I have to decide by Monday. Should include the free drinks, too.

Can you share the ship and dates for that sailing; that's a great deal!

  6. when the ncl epic was new the company did a goof and the solo studio was advertised at the rate for 3rd person in a cabin. the deal lasted about 48 hours before the goof was fixed. the months available to choose your sail date was pretty large and i paid $350 for the 7 nights. the cost was $850 before and after the goof the discovered.

I got in on that deal; it was great! My sister and I got studios across the hall from each other :D

  7. I don't know if this has anything to do with RCCL's May sale of Buy 1 Get 50% off guest, but I'm finding some good deals for Brilliance 4 and 5 day cruises in 2015. For example, 7 Nov and 5 Dec come out to approx $435 solo inside; 12 Nov & 10 Dec come out to approx $351 solo inside. A 9 day back to back would be approx $786 solo inside; I'm toying with booking something. I just did mock bookings on Royal's website for the dates I was interested in to price different options.

I grabbed one for MLK week in January

I decided on the 5 & 10 Dec 2015 dates. Will be a nice getaway before Christmas :-)

  9. I am so sorry to think that they are doing away with traditional dining. I love meeting new people and sharing our days activities and hearing about theirs at dinner every night. We did MTD once and hated it because we usually were given a table for 2, which is just like at home! We met no one!

Shirley, My sentiments exactly! I'm really hoping they don't do away with traditional dining across the entire fleet!

  10. I agree with everyone else; the single supplement should only be one factor. Your goal is to find cruises you're interested in at a price you're willing to pay. Then watch for price drops, and be proactive when you see them. I booked a November TA from Barcelona earlier this year, and within a 2 week span, the price dropped 3 times! I ended up saving over $300 and in a balcony cabin for $600 on a 14-night cruise!

There's a great thread under the Solo Cruisers forum that you should follow: "Post CRUISE LINE Single Supplement/Solo Bargains"...Folks will often share good deals they have found. Good luck!

  11. Darn...can't believe I forgot about this deal today!! Just logged into the website to check and my savings certs are gone...I thought they expired at midnight

On hold on the phone now to see if it they can still be applied; if not, I'll wait for another deal

Yay! Just got off the phone and got 10/26/14 FOS booked in a Promanade cabin

with the $75 savings cert applied. The rep said the certs expire online at the end of the business day, but she applied it for me. :)

  12. Several Royal Freedom of the seas Western caribbean sailings Sept 2014 to December 2014

    9/14/14, 9/28/14, 10/12/14, 10/26/14, 11/9/14, 12/7/14

    Promenade cabins for $648.40 total

Who knows maybe its another error lol

  13. Well it seems like Princess legal team figured a way out of the pricing errors.

On my two b2b cruises I booked 4/4 and 4/7 I received this tonight: (glad I did not book a flight)

Yeah, I got that also. I had 3/31, 4/4, and 4/7 booked; 3/31 got changed to 3-day versus 4-day, and the other 2 were canceled. Will call tomorrow to cancel the 3/31 cruise...thankfully I have not made any nonrefundable plans.

  14. Hi, I'm Teresa from Atlanta. Love solo cruising and I do it when I can find a great deal...I've done about 10 so far. I cruise with family and friends also, but I must admit that solo is my preferred method ;)

I too got in on the great solo balcony deal on the 10 Nov RCCL Navigator TA...my second TA and I can't wait!

Also got in on a great Princess Sapphire deal for next spring, so will do a B2B2B on 31 Mar, 4 Apr, & 7 Apr

  15. I'm so thrilled. The promenade photos are great. Thank you for posting them Carol:)

Hopefully you'll love the Promenade cabins...I sure do! I stay in them often as I can seldom afford a solo balcony. They feel roomier to me and the window seat is great to sit and watch the goings on down on the Promenade. Just don't forget to close the curtins when dressing/showering
